1 WHO IS AUSTRALIAN EVENTS ACADEMY The Australian Events Academy (AEA) is the specialist provider of education & training of venue and event management, to individuals and organisations involved in meetings, conferences, exhibitions and events. As the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) of the events industry association, Meetings & Events Australia, the AEA is the provider of choice for events related education and training, delivering accredited qualification and nonqualification programs and specialist education workshops. PROGRAM PURPOSE This nationally recognised qualification based on industry consultation and designed to equip learners to work as senior managers within the venues and events context. Learners who successfully complete the program will be awarded the nationally recognised qualification. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This program is ideal for those currently working in or looking to work in a role associated with the organising of events, either as a meetings and events organiser or from a corporate or venue perspective. This course covers a broad range of topics providing the skills and knowledge to aid career advancement to a senior management level. PROGRAM OUTCOMES The qualification CUE60403 Advanced Diploma of Venues and Event, provides the individuals with the ability to analyse, diagnose, design and execute judgments across a broad range of technical or management functions and teaches a wide range of specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills. They are also responsible for group outcomes. As such the qualification reflects the skills of a senior manager working in a Venues and Events context. On completion of the course students will be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Venues and Events CUE LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT PERSONNEL The course is delivered by qualified trainers/assessors, industry practitioners and professional speakers/ presenters who are Involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of the program and are suitably qualified according to national standards and recognised as industry leaders in their field. AEA presents a strong network of industry and learning and development professionals who can motivate, lead and inspire you through the program. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for the Advanced Diploma of Venues and Events (CUE60403), applicants should be aware that students will be required to demonstrate the application of their knowledge with depth in areas of specialization, in contexts subject to change and skills using initiative and judgment in planning, design, technical or management functions, with accountability for personal outputs and personal and team outcomes within broad parameters in order to graduate and work in a senior management position. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) This is an assessment process that assesses an individual s formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of a qualification. If you can verify that you have achieved some of the goals of the course already, you will not have to do that part of the course. This means you may finish the course earlier and it will reduce your workload. The is recognised within the Australia Qualifications Framework and issued under the authority of the NSW Vocational Education and Training Act 2005.
2 INDUSTRY VALIDATION The AEA is committed to continuous improvement in its assessment practices, tools and outcomes. Included in the program management of each qualification is a process of quality review and control. This is achieved by facilitating focus groups of likeminded professionals from both the meetings and events industry and the Vocational Education and Training sector at least twice annually and conducting validation sessions. The type of approach used is Assessment Partnerships, Consensus Meetings and External (validators or panels). WHERE TO FROM HERE? PRE PROGRAM PREPARATION CLIENT INFORMATION Before you enrol or enter into an agreement, AEA must inform you about the training, assessment and support services provided, and about the roles and responsibilities of both parties. This information is detailed in the Student Handbook available to view or download from the AEA website by contacting the AEA on training@a-e-a.edu.au and will be covered in the program induction session. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) Prior to the program commencing, you will have the opportunity to present evidence for recognition of applicable skills and knowledge relevant to the outcomes of the. Information on applying for RPL will be provided on receipt of your course registration or you can contact training@a-e-a.edu.au. PROGRAM INDUCTION The program induction is the first session and will be an introduction to the course providing you with the course resources and materials as well as outlining the obligations and opportunities required to commence and successfully progress through the program. DELIVERY DETAILS CLASSROOM-BASED 2 x 4hr sessions per month 1 x 6hr weekend session per month EMPLOYMENT-BASED ASSESSMENT DETAILS Candidates are assessed through a variety of methods including:- RTO / Enterprise 80 hrs per month Portfolio Submissions comprehensive portfolio submissions provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate competence in a practical format, encompassing a range of documents that reflect the requirements of achieving outcomes within a workplace setting. Written Assessments including short answer quizzes, case studies and projects that focus on the application of theoretical knowledge. Observation including role plays and simulated workplace scenarios which allow a demonstration of practical skills. Interviews as appropriate to the situation, assessors may conduct interviews with you as a learner to gather information on your skills and knowledge, receive feedback on your learning process and ongoing development. SUPPORT All learners and candidates are provided with suitable and ongoing support by AEA and relevant AEA Industry Practitioners. The primary goal of this support is to ensure that as a learner you are provided every opportunity to assist you in your learning and development journey and achieve your goals. The is recognised within the Australia Qualifications Framework and issued under the authority of the NSW Vocational Education and Training Act 2005.
3 COMPETENCY CLUSTERS A key feature of the is its method of assessment. By using a technique of grouping competencies often referred to as clustering, your assessment can cover more than one unit of competency at a time. This means that one assessment task representing a standard employment-based / simulated work function can cover multiple units of competency. The process of gathering evidence can apply to part of a unit, a whole unit, and a cluster of units or an entire qualification. PROGRAM OVERVIEW Cluster 1 Quality Meetings and Customer Service This cluster looks at customer service and how to develop and implement strategies to improve and manage customer relationships. You will also learn how to effectively manage business meetings from coordination to reporting meeting outcomes and how to maximise the efficiency of the meeting process to drive quality outcomes. This cluster looks at managing workplace relations from an industrial relations perspective. SITXHRM008A Manage workplace relations SITXHRM006A Monitor staff performance Cluster 3 Marketing and Communications In this cluster you will learn how to apply marketing concepts to events and conduct a strategic analysis of an organisation s marketing performance, identify and select the right markets for events, attract sponsorship and develop a comprehensive marketing plan which incorporates e-marketing and social media. 4 Cluster 5 Advanced Venue Creative Events are the only elements of the marketing mix that are totally interactive and experiential. This cluster looks at using production to create immersive event concepts and experiences that engage all five senses, incorporating technical, styling and design, multimedia and entertainment elements. You will also learn how to create effective pitches and proposals and determine event feasibility.
