New Features With this release the following features were introduced to BACKUP EAGLE Configurable automatically checking of results With the automatically checking results can be marked as checked automatically. Automatically checking is controlled by check rules. Check rules can be defined like re-evaluation rules. For each check rule a server, domain/savegroup, node/client and return code can be defined. Rules will only be applied to results matching these settings. For each check rule a comment has to be specified. The comment describes why the result can be automatically set to checked. [BE-22] 1.2. Check multiple results at once In Client Control > List View multiple results can be selected an marked as checked at once. This is useful when lots of results with the same reason or message exist. [BE-921] 1.3. BACKUP EAGLE «DOC» The following new Features where introduced to BACKUP EAGLE «DOC» Combined reports and automatically report dispatch BACKUP EAGLE «DOC» can now combine multiple reports into on PDF file. With this you can create a daily report consisting of your "favorite" reports. BACKUP EAGLE «DOC» reports can now automatically send a an . Two new newsgroups were created: Documentation: Sends reports as single PDF files. Creates on mail with multiple PDF attachments. Documentation (zip): Sends all reports compressed into one ZIP file as attachement. Further custom rules can be defined to select individual reports to be packaged into ZIP files or to be sent as single files. Also the maximum size of the PDF files to be sent can be specified. 4 Definition of custom reports Custom reports can now be defined within BACKUP EAGLE «DOC». Custom reports are based on custom selects against the TSM database or custom queries against NetWorker servers. Data queries and report layouts are configured using XML configuration files. Custom reports are (like the build in default reports) created during every BACKUP EAGLE «DOC» report creation. Custom reports can be automatically send by . [BE-1059] Report layout simplifications and extensions With this version the following reports were extended or the report layout was simplified: Library, Drives, Device Classes, Libvolumes, Storagepools, Paths. A new two section report layout is introduces. Reports start with an overview section. This overview section contains a table that shows all important information. This table allows a quick overview of all configuration objects. In the second part of the report all configuration details of the configuration objects are listed. This guarantees the completeness of the information. [BE-1059] New reports The following new reports were added in this version: Backupsets, Storage spacetrigger, Node groups. [BE-1059] 1.4. Redesigned configuration dialog The BACKUP EAGLE configuration dialog was redesigned. Configuration groups are now shown on the left side of the dialog and can be accessed directly be clicking on the group name. It is no longer necessary to scroll to all the configuration groups. [BE-1001]/[BE-1058] 1.5. Performance improvements in Client Control Loading of results is now faster. A limitation of max. 15,000 results was added. This means that the loading of results stops when 15,000 results were loaded from the database. The loaded results are then displayed in Client Control. A message appears that shows that not all results were loaded. The limitation can be modified using the configuration dialog. In the historical view of results a maximum of 100 results was added. This speeds up the display of results for nodes/clients with lots of daily backups (e.g. hourly database backups). The limit can be changed using the configuration dialog. 5 [BE-1100] 1.6. Protocols are now stored in ZIP containers Text protocols, PDF protocols and protocol base files (scdbif files) are now collected and stored in ZIP files. This brings the following improvements: Fewer files have to be stored in the file system. In a BACKUP EAGLE environment with two results per node/client per day (e.g. standard and logfiles project result) the number of files is reduced by factor 14. With three results per day it is factor 21. If there are nodes/clients with multiple daily backups (e.g. 24 x database backup per day) the factor for these nodes is > 150. The used space in the file system is reduced. By compressing the files less space is needed. It is ensured that protocols can be easily be found by file name conventions when searching in the file system or backup-/archive systems. This value is computed using the current systems date. A result with start time 10/29/2011 that is processed on 11/05/2011 will be packed into the following ZIP container: "rzcaix001_protocols_ _ _ _0000.zip" gepackt. (F) Sequential number This ensures that the delayed arrival of backup results does not lead to the creation of ZIP containers that may be already have been deleted from the file system. This makes sure that no deleted ZIP containers will be replaced in backup or archive systems. If more than 1,000 files are stored in a ZIP container or a ZIP container is larger than 10MB an new ZIP container is started. The sequential number is incremented by one. 6 [BE-70] 1.7. TSM commandline added To run TSM commands a TSM command line was added to BACKUP EAGLE. With the TSM commandline commands can be send to TSM servers registered in BACKUP EAGLE. The output of the commands is shown within the user interface. A history of the last commands is available. Commands can be automatically be repeated for a definable number of iterations. The following image shows a screenshot of the TSM commandline. [BE-1150] 1.8. Minor improvements This BACKUP EAGLE release contains the following minor improvements: Description When installing BACKUP EAGLE an custom SSL key is created. A notice where to find this key is displayed during the installation process. In Client Control check dialog for results a new button "Next Unchecked Result" was added. When exporting an audit check list the dialog to choose the export file name now accepts the "Enter" key to press the "OK" button.
