1 Ms. Nicholas Spring VIDEO GAME DESIGN LESSON PLANS April 15-19, 2013 All week (in this order) Game 3 Ping Pong, Game 4 Break Thru, and Game 5 Pin Ball Use your time wisely FIND INFO IN TEACHER TEMP Review skills from previous lessons Create a 2-player game Create a scoring display system Using old and new skills, develop a game similar to the original Pong Assignments: Ping Pong Due Tuesday, April 16 1) Unit 3 Ping Pong PowerPoint Read and Comprehend 2) Build Ping Pong Game according to instructions 3) Modify the game so that the a sound plays when the players hit AND miss the ball (different sounds) 4) Also modify the game so that each time the players hit the ball, the ball speeds up. Save it as pingpong April 15-19, 2013 All week (in this order) Game 3 Ping Pong, Game 4 Break Thru, and Game 5 Pin Ball Use your time wisely Using old and new skills, develop a game similar to the original BreakOut Destroy blocks and gain points. Create a game that transitions from room to room, once all the blocks are gone. After 3 balls, the game will end and the score will be displayed on the high score table. Assignments: Break Thru Due Thursday, April Develop a game similar to the original BreakOut *Must have at least 3 rooms after completing 1 st move to 2 nd. Utilize all color blocks with different point values. As game progresses, speed of ball increases. After 3 balls, game ends and high score is displayed. Save as breakthru APRIL 19 BEGIN PINBALL LESSON 1
2 April 11-12, 2013 Review skills from Introduction Create a background Add simple object control (up and down) Add how to create a simple scoring system Using old and new skills, develop a game of paddle ball Assignments: 5) Unit 3 PowerPoint Read and Comprehend 6) Build Paddle Ball Game according to instructions 7) Then modify the game so that the ball and paddle move faster (increase the difficulty of the game). Save it as Game 2A The instructions are provided as a. There are 3 assignments at the end of this lesson that will require students to make modifications to the game they just created.
