Development practitioners have to master and abide by all the components of a project - right from strategy setting/initiating, program development/planning, resource mobilization/financing, implementation and monitoring, project closing and evaluation. An effective project requires that the ideas for implementation have to be well thought out right from the outset. This therefore requires that a robust and evidence based project proposal must precede any project or program before implementation. No benefactor is ready to commit funds into your project unless you demonstrate competence with sufficient rigor while articulating your ideas in the proposal - backed by evidence that you have well constituted implementers (proposed staff competence). Finance Management in Project Cycle: Financial management - refers to the efficient and effective management of funds in such a manner as to accomplish the objectives of the organization. It is the specialized function directly associated with the top management. A donor audit checks whether grant terms and conditions have been followed. Project management on the other hand is the application of knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently. It is a strategy for organizations that enables them get results from the projects which are directed towards achieving the set goals, hence better competency in serving their clients. In Project Cycle Management, practitioners have to master and abide by all the components of the proposed program plan, utilize effectively and efficiently its mobilized resources/finances, implement and monitor its inputs, activities, outputs and outcomes as the project is being implemented and subsequent project closing and final evaluation. Finance officers stand at the heart of the blame in case of misappropriations or inefficient practices because money controls the heartbeat of the project. Careful institutional cash management is therefore very crucial for the success of the project. WHY THIS COURSE? VENUE The course will take place in Kampala, Uganda. The exact hotel will be communicated to you in due course. Organizations which prefer to host this event at their preferred location are encouraged to apply for the tailoredcorporate arrangement, which in many cases is more cost effective for the client. COST The course tuition fees is US$900 per person (break tea and lunch are provided) only, excluding taxes. If you would like to reside at the hotel (training venue), we will advise you contact the hotel directly for booking. However, if you would like us to book on your behalf, we will do so, provided you confirm to us your interest so that we will send you an invoice with accommodation fees and airport transfer fees inclusive. Please note that accommodation in Kampala approximately ranges between US$70 - $150 per night depending on the hotel. Participants can come from any departments and/ or field provided they are working in and with the communities. Participants residing at the venue of the training should bring their sports attire as there will be recreational facilities offered by the hotel, plus any other essentials that you think will be necessary. For visitors traveling from outside Uganda, and they are not East African Nationals, you might be expected to acquire a VISA, either on arrival or before.
