Section Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim. D. Section Gutters and Downspouts. E. Section Joint Sealers: Field installed sealants DESIGN & PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. General: 1. Design, materials, construction and quality of roof assemblies shall comply with design criteria specified in the Contract Documents and applicable requirements of the governing building code, including but not limited to FBC-B CHAPTERS 15 and 16 (including HVHZ provisions), and ASCE 7. a. Refer to FBC-B SECTION 1620 for wind loads; minimum Basic Wind Speed shall be as specified in this Section and as indicated on the Structural Drawings. b. The entire application method of metal panel roof system shall be as detailed in the Product Approval and FBC-TPHVHZ RAS-133, as applicable. (1) Perimeter flashings shall meet the material sizing and attachment requirements set forth FBC-TPHVHZ RAS-111. (2) Wood blocking shall be secured to the substrate in compliance with FBC-TPHVHZ RAS All perimeter flashings shall meet the material sizing and attachment requirements set forth FBC-TPHVHZ RAS Underlayment shall be in accordance with FBC-B CHAPTER 15. B. Design Loads: Metal roofing components, roofing systems and roofing assemblies, including substrate and structural support system, shall comply with requirements of the governing building code, criteria indicated on the Structural drawings, and as follows: 1. Design Loads shall include vertical live loads and wind loads, in addition to dead loads. 2. Vertical Live Loads: As indicated on Structural Drawings, but not less than City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

2 20 PSF. a. Wind Load (Maximum Design Pressure) Design Criteria: (1) Basic Wind Speed (3-second gust): 146 miles per hour. (2) Building Classification (FBC-B TABLE and ASCE 7 Table 1-1): Category II. (3) Wind Importance Factor (FBC-B TABLE ): (4) Wind Exposure Category (FBC-B SECTIONS and ): C. (5) Maximum Design Pressure Ratings of roofing components, roofing systems and roofing assemblies shall be not less than design pressure requirements indicated on the Structural drawings. C. Performance Requirements: Provide complete roofing assemblies, including roof panels, clips, fasteners, connectors, and miscellaneous accessories, tested for conformance to the following minimum standards: 1. General: a. Metal roof panels shall comply with performance requirements without failure due to defective manufacture, fabrication, installation, or other defects in construction. b. Complete weathertight system tested and approved in accordance with ASTM E Product Approval: Metal roof panels shall be tested in accordance with the requirements of FBC-B SECTION , and shall have an approved and current Miami Dade Product Approval NOA meeting the wind pressure requirements shown on the structural drawings. 3. Delegated Design: Design metal roof panel assembly, including comprehensive engineering analysis by a qualified professional engineer, licensed in the state of Florida and employed by the system manufacturer as a full time employee, using performance requirements and design criteria indicated. Extrapolation of testing results beyond the allowable pressures listed in the Florida Product Approval or NOA is prohibited. 4. Wind Uplift: UL Class 90 wind uplift resistance of UL Fire Resistance Classification: The panel system shall be listed as a Class A fire rated roof covering and shall be acceptable for use in a Class A rated roof assembly, as determined by UL Air Infiltration: Maximum cfm/sq ft at air pressure differential of 15.0 lbf/sq ft, when tested according to ASTM E Water Penetration: No water penetration when tested according to procedures and recommended test pressures of ASTM E1646 (5 gallons/hr per sq ft, at a test pressure difference of 15.0 lbf/sq ft, for a test period of 15 minutes). Perform test immediately following air infiltration test. 8. Dynamic Pressure Water Penetration: The panel system shall be tested in accordance with AAMA and exhibit the following levels of performance: a. No leakage at 70 MPH wind velocity for 5 minutes. b. No leakage at 100 MPH wind velocity for 1 minute. 9. Hydrostatic-Head Resistance: The panel system shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E2140 and exhibit no leakage when submerged under 6 inches of water for 6 hours 10. Structural Performance: Provide metal roof panel assemblies capable of withstanding the effects of gravity loads and the following loads and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated, based on testing according to City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

3 ASTM E1592: a. Wind Loads: Determine loads based on ASCE 7 calculations with criteria specific to each roof area. b. Deflection Limits: Metal roof panel assemblies shall withstand wind and snow loads with vertical deflections no greater than 1/180 of the span. 11. Thermal Movements: Allow for thermal movements resulting from ambient and surface temperature changes. Base calculations on surface temperatures of materials due to both solar heat gain and nighttime-sky heat loss. a. Temperature Change (Range): +/- 220 degrees F b. Interface between panel and clip shall provide for unlimited thermal movement in each direction along the longitudinal direction. Panel and seam cap configuration shall provide for the complete isolation of the sealant beads from the panel clip to prevent degradation of sealant from thermal movement cycles. c. Panel system manufacturer shall demonstrate, by means of a report from an accredited third party testing laboratory, that the panel has been physically tested to simulate thermal expansion and contraction. (1) Testing shall consist of a minimum of 100,000 cycles with a stroke distance of not less than 2 inches per cycle. (2) Satisfactory performance shall require that the panel system show no indication of material wear through or sealant degradation. 12. Energy Performance: Refer to SRI criteria specified in LEED Requirements. D. LEED Requirements: 1. Heat Island Effect - Roof: Standing seam metal panel roof system shall meet or exceed requirements of LEED-NC SS Credit 7.2 (for steep sloped roof) by means of reducing thermal gradient differences through high reflectance and high emissivity in accordance with the following criteria: a. Solar Reflectance Index (SRI): 29 or better, when calculated according to ASTM E1980 based on testing identical products by a qualified testing agency SUBMITTALS A. For submittal procedures, refer to Section 2 - General Terms and Conditions and Section 3 - Supplemental Terms and Conditions. B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including: 1. Construction details, material descriptions, dimensions of individual components and profiles, and finishes for each type of roof panel and accessory. 2. Summary of test results, indicating compliance with specified requirements. 3. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations. 4. Installation methods. 5. Specimen warranty. C. Product Approval: Submit a current Miami Dade Product Approval NOA meeting the wind pressure requirements shown on the structural contract drawings. D. Shop Drawings: Include layouts of roof panels, details of edge and penetration conditions, spacing and type of connections, flashings, underlayments, and City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

4 special conditions. 1. Show roof panel system with flashings and accessories in plan and elevation; sections and details. a. Include metal thicknesses and finishes, panel lengths, joining details, anchorage details, flashings and special fabrication provisions for termination and penetrations. Indicate relationships with adjacent and interfacing work. 2. Show work to be field-fabricated or field-assembled. 3. Shop drawings to be prepared exclusively by metal roof panel manufacturer. 4. Include structural analysis signed and sealed by qualified structural engineer, indicating conformance of roofing system to specified loading conditions. E. Delegated-Design Submittal: For metal roof panel assembly indicated to comply with performance requirements and design criteria, including analysis data signed and sealed by the qualified professional engineer responsible for their preparation. F. Engineering Calculations: Submit negative wind uplift pressure calculations. 1. Calculations shall be signed and sealed by a professional engineer licensed to practice structural engineering in the State of Florida and employed by the panel system manufacture as a full time permanent employee. 2. Extrapolation of testing results beyond the allowable pressures listed in the Florida Product Approval or NOA is prohibited. G. Samples: 1. Selection Samples: For each roofing system specified, submit color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns. 2. Verification Samples: For each roofing system specified, submit samples of minimum size 12 inches (305 mm) square, representing actual roofing metal, thickness, profile, color, and texture. H. Test Reports: Indicate compliance of preformed metal roofing system to specified requirements. I. Warranties: Submit specified manufacturer's warranties and ensure that forms have been completed in City's name and are registered with manufacturer. J. LEED Submittals: 1. General: a. Collect and submit data as required for completing the applicable LEED Submittal Template(s). 2. SS Credit 7.2, Heat Island Effect - Roof: Submit documentation for Solar Reflectivity, Emissivity and Solar Reflectance (SRI) Value. 3. Product Data for Credit MR 4.1 and Credit MR 4.2: For products having recycled content, submit documentation required to complete the recycled content calculation table in the LEED Submittal Template, including but not limited to: a tabulation of each such material, including a description of the material, the manufacturer of the material, the product cost, the pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content percentages (by weight), and the source of the recycled content data QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer must specialize in the manufacturing City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

5 of metal roof systems, and shall have successfully manufactured the specified roof system for a minimum of ten (10) years. 1. The Project Manager reserves the right to require evidence of adequate financial responsibility. B. Installer Qualifications: The selected roof contractor must be trained and approved by the panel system manufacturer and minimum of three (3) years experience specializing in the installation of standing seam metal roofing. 1. The Project Manager reserves the right to require evidence of adequate financial responsibility. C. Testing Agency Qualifications: Qualified according to ASTM E329 for testing indicated. D. Pre-Installation Conference: Conduct conference at Project Site. 1. Meet with Project Manager, Consultant, testing and inspecting agency representative, metal roof panel Installer, metal roof panel manufacturer's representative, deck installer, and installers whose work interfaces with or affects metal roof panels including installers of roof accessories and roof-mounted equipment. 2. Review and finalize construction schedule and verify availability of materials, Installer's personnel, equipment, and facilities needed to make progress and avoid delays. 3. Review methods and procedures related to metal roof panel installation, including manufacturer's written instructions. 4. Examine deck substrate conditions for compliance with requirements, including flatness and attachment to structural members. 5. Review structural loading limitations of deck during and after roofing. 6. Review flashings, special roof details, roof drainage, roof penetrations, equipment curbs, and condition of other construction that will affect metal roof panels. 7. Review governing regulations and requirements for insurance, certificates, and testing and inspecting if applicable. 8. Review temporary protection requirements for metal roof panel assembly during and after installation. 9. Review roof observation and repair procedures after metal roof panel installation. E. Quality Assurance Inspections: Roof panel manufacturer shall provide at no additional cost to the City, a minimum of three scheduled field inspections which shall include a written report from the panel manufacturer upon pre-installation, upon 50 percent completion, and upon final completion. 1. Inspections shall be conducted by a salaried employee of the roof panel manufacturer. 2. Inspector shall be registered with the Project Manager prior to project commencement. 3. Inspections conducted by roofing system distributors / dealers, or third parties will not be acceptable. 4. The field inspector reserves the right to review and report to the Consultant the level of acceptability of work completed and to subsequently issue a report of items not acceptable-if required. 6 1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver components, sheets, metal roof panels, and other manufactured items so as not to be damaged or deformed. Package metal roof panels for protection during transportation and handling. B. Unload, store, and erect metal roof panels in a manner to prevent bending, warping, twisting, and surface damage. C. Provide strippable plastic protection on prefinished roofing panels for removal after installation. D. Store roofing panels on project site as recommended by manufacturer to minimize damage to panels prior to installation, and as follows: 1. Stack metal roof panels on platforms or pallets, covered with suitable weathertight and ventilated covering. Store metal roof panels to ensure dryness. Do not store metal roof panels in contact with other materials that might cause staining, denting, or other surface damage. 2. Protect strippable protective covering on metal roof panels from exposure to sunlight and high humidity, except to extent necessary for period of metal roof panel installation PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Weather Limitations: Proceed with installation only when existing and forecasted weather conditions permit metal roof panel work to be performed according to manufacturer's written instructions and warranty requirements. B. Field Measurements: Verify actual dimensions of construction contiguous with metal roof panels by field measurements before fabrication COORDINATION A. Coordinate sizes and locations of roof curbs, equipment supports, and roof penetrations with actual equipment provided. B. Coordinate metal roof panels with rain drainage work, flashing, trim, and construction of deck, parapets, walls, and other adjoining work to provide a leak proof, secure, and noncorrosive installation WARRANTIES A. Manufacturer Warranties: 1. Weathertightness Warranty: Furnish manufacturer's standard 20-year weathertightness warranty, covering failure of metal roof panels, attachment system, flashings, penetrations, underlayment, field-applied gutter liner material and edge details, and agreeing to repair or replace roofing that fails to keep out water within specified warranty period. a. Warranty shall clearly state that the design wind speed will not limit weathertight and blow off protection up to that wind speed. 2. Finish Warranty: Furnish manufacturer s standard 20-year finish warranty, covering failure of factory-applied exterior finish on metal roof panels and agreeing to repair or replace panels that show evidence of finish degradation, including significant fading, chalking, cracking or peeling, within specified warranty period. 7 a. Finish degradation includes, but is not limited to, the following: (1) Color fading more than 5 Hunter units when tested according to ASTM D2244. (2) Chalking in excess of a No. 8 rating when tested according to ASTM D4214. (3) Cracking, checking, peeling, or failure of paint to adhere to bare metal. B. Installer Warranty: Furnish an installer warranty stating that the roof system, as installed, is free from defects in installation workmanship, including the roof panel installation, underlayment, flashing, accessories, attachments, and sheet metal installation integral to a complete watertight roof system assembly. 1. Correction of defective workmanship and replacement of damaged or affected materials is the responsibility of the metal roof system installer. All costs associated with the repair or replacement work are the responsibility of the installer. 2. Warranty Period: 2 years, commencing upon the effective date of Substantial Completion. C. Continuance of Warranty: Repair or replacement work that becomes necessary within the warranty period must be approved, as required, and accomplished in a manner so as to restore the integrity of the roof system assembly and validity of the metal roof system manufacturer warranty for the remainder of the manufacturer warranty period. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. Preformed Aluminum Panels: Factory-formed panels with factory-applied finish. 1. Aluminum Panels: a. Alloy: Aluminum conforming to ASTM B209; temper as required for forming. b. Thickness: Minimum inch (0.8 mm). 2. Standing Seam Panel Width: 16 inches (nominal). 3. Profile: Standing seam, with minimum 2.0 inch (51 mm) seam height; concealed fastener system; with mechanically-seamed batten cap. 4. Texture: Smooth. 5. Finish: a. Exposed Surfaces: Factory-applied, AAMA 620, 3-coat fluoropolymer finish containing not less than 70 percent PVDF resin by weight in color coat. (1) Prepare, pre-treat, and apply coating to exposed metal surfaces to comply with coating and resin manufacturers' written instructions. b. Concealed Surfaces: Factory-applied pretreatment and manufacturer's standard white or light-colored acrylic or polyester backer finish, consisting of prime coat and wash coat with a minimum total dry film thickness of 0.5 mil. 6. Length: Maximum possible length to minimize lapped joints. B. Underlayment: Two plies of ASTM D226 Type II, per manufacturer s City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

8 recommendation. 1. Underlayment shall conform to applicable requirements of the governing building code, including but not limited to HVHZ requirements and roofing system Product Approval requirements. 2. Product: Fast Felt by Fast Felt Corporation (Miami-Dade Product Approval NOA No ), or equal STANDING-SEAM METAL ROOF PANELS A. General: Provide Preformed Aluminum Panels designed to be installed by lapping and interconnecting raised side edges of adjacent panels with joint type indicated and mechanically attaching panels to supports using concealed clips in side laps. Include clips, cleats, pressure plates, and accessories required for weathertight installation. B. Preformed Aluminum Panels to be formed with vertical ribs at panel edges and intermediate stiffening ribs symmetrically spaced; designed for sequential installation by mechanically attaching panels to supports using concealed clips located under one side of panels and engaging opposite edge of adjacent panels, and installing mechanically seamed battens over panel joints. C. Acceptable Manufacturer: 1. Basis-of-Design: Innovative Metals Company (IMETCO); Tucker, GA; Tel a. Product: IMETCO Series 300 (NOA No ) roof panel system with mechanically seamed batten cap. 2. Substitutions: Subject to compliance with contract requirements, equivalent systems and components by other manufacturers may be proposed for consideration in accordance with Section 2 - General Terms and Conditions, Article 48. a. The burden of proof of the merit of the proposed substitution is upon the Contractor. b. Requests for approval will not be considered unless accompanied by all test reports and design calculations listed in DESIGN & PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS and SUBMITTALS. c. All requests for approval must be submitted through the manufacturer's certified roofing contractor. d. The contractor shall cover all costs affecting the building structural and weather tightness integrity explicit or implicit resulting from the acceptance of proposed substitution by the A/E or Record and Owner ATTACHMENT SYSTEM A. Concealed System: Provide manufacturer's standard stainless steel or nylon-coated aluminum concealed anchor clips designed for specific roofing system and engineered to meet performance requirements, including anticipated thermal movement FINISHES City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

9 A. General: 1. Comply with NAAMM AMP 500 for recommendations for applying and designating finishes. 2. Protect mechanical and painted finishes on exposed surfaces from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering before shipping. 3. Appearance of Finished Work: Noticeable variations in same piece are not acceptable. Variations in appearance of adjoining components are acceptable if they are within the range of approved Samples and are assembled or installed to minimize contrast. B. Panel Finish: 1. Exposed Surfaces: Factory-applied fluoropolymer coating system. a. Manufacturer s standard multi-coat thermocured coating system, including minimum 70 percent fluoropolymer color topcoat with minimum total dry film thickness of 0.9 mil (0.023 mm); color and gloss as selected from manufacturer s standards. (1) Prepare, pre-treat, and apply coating to exposed metal surfaces to comply with coating and resin manufacturers' written instructions. b. Color: IMETCO 'Silver Cloud', or approved equal. c. Solar Reflectance Index (SRI): Refer to DESIGN & PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS. 2. Concealed Surfaces: Factory-applied siliconized polyester or acrylic enamel coating. a. Apply pretreatment and manufacturer's standard white or light-colored acrylic or polyester backer finish, consisting of prime coat and wash coat with a minimum total dry film thickness of 0.5 mil ACCESSORIES AND MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS A. Roof Panel Accessories: Provide components approved by roof panel manufacturer and as required for a complete metal roof panel assembly including trim, copings, fasciae, corner units, ridge closures, clips, flashings, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items. 1. General: a. Match material and finish of metal roof panels unless otherwise indicated. 2. Concealed Standard Anchor Clips: Two-hole clips shall be 16 gauge galvanized steel, with projecting legs for additional panel alignment and provision for unlimited thermal movement in each direction along the longitudinal dimension. a. Clip must maintain a clearance of a minimum of 3/8 inch between panel and substrate for proper ventilation to help prevent condensation on underside of panel and eliminate the contact of panel fastener head to panel. 3. Closures: Provide closures at eaves and ridges, fabricated of same metal as metal roof panels 4. Closure Strips: Closed-cell, expanded cellular, rubber or cross linked, polyolefin-foam or closed-cell laminated polyethylene; minimum 1-inch thick, flexible closure strips; cut or pre-molded to match metal roof panel profile. a. Provide closure strips where indicated or necessary to ensure weathertight construction. B. Flashing and Trim: Formed from same material as roof panels, pre-painted with City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

10 coil coating. Provide flashing and trim as required to seal against weather and to provide finished appearance. Locations include, but are not limited to, eaves, rakes, corners, bases, framed openings, ridges, fasciae, and fillers. Finish flashing and trim with same finish system as adjacent metal roof panels. C. Gutters and Downspouts: 1. General: a. Gutters and downspouts to be formed from same material roof panels. 2. Gutters: a. Match profile shown in drawings. b. Provide complete gutter system, with end pieces, outlet tubes, and other special pieces as required. c. Fabricate in minimum 96-inch long sections, of size and metal thickness according to SMACNA (ASMM). d. Furnish gutter supports spaced a maximum of 36 inches o.c., fabricated from same metal as gutters. e. Provide wire ball strainers of compatible metal at outlets. 3. Downspouts: Finish downspouts to match gutters. a. Fabricate in 10 foot long sections, complete with formed elbows and offsets, of size and metal thickness according to SMACNA (ASMM). 4. Refer to Section for additional requirements. D. Sealants: As specified in Section Exposed sealant must cure to rubber-like consistency. 2. Concealed sealant must be non-hardening type. 3. Seam sealant must be factory-applied, non-skinning, non-drying type FABRICATION A. Joints: Factory-install captive gaskets, sealants, or separator strips at panel joints to provide weathertight seals, eliminate metal-to-metal contact, and minimize noise from panel movements. B. Fabricate and finish metal roof panels and accessories at the factory to greatest extent possible, by manufacturer's standard procedures and processes and as necessary to fulfill indicated performance requirements. 1. Comply with indicated profiles and with dimensional and structural requirements. C. Panels shall be furnished full length with no end laps, unless otherwise specified by the Consultant. 1. Field forming of panels will only be considered for panel lengths in excess of 80 feet, and must be pre-approved by the Consultant. 2. Per FBC-TPHVHZ RAS-133, Metal panel continuous lengths shall not exceed 32 feet for aluminum. It is the responsibility of the successful subcontractor to prequalify the system which they bid meets the thermal movement requirements set forth in FBC-TPHVHZ RAS-133, to be issued a case by case approval for panels to be factory fabricated and installed in lengths greater than 32 feet. D. If site forming is pre-approved by the Consultant, field rolling equipment must maintain factory quality, employing the exact amount of roll forming stations at the factory equipment. 11 1. A full time employee of the manufacturer must operate and maintain the site roll forming equipment at all times. E. Provide panel profile, including major ribs and intermediate stiffening ribs, if any, for full length of panel. F. Fabricate metal roof panel side laps with factory-installed captive gaskets or separator strips that provide a tight seal and prevent metal-to-metal contact, in a manner that will seal weathertight and minimize noise from movements within panel assembly. G. Sheet Metal Accessories: Fabricate flashing and trim to comply with recommendations in SMACNA (ASMM) that apply to the design, dimensions, metal, and other characteristics of item indicated. 1. Form exposed sheet metal accessories that are without excessive oil canning, buckling, and tool marks and that are true to line and levels indicated, with exposed edges folded back to form hems. 2. End Seams for Aluminum: Fabricate nonmoving seams with flat-lock seams. Form seams and seal with epoxy seam sealer. Rivet joints for additional strength. 3. End Seams for Other Than Aluminum: Fabricate nonmoving seams with flat-lock seams. Tin edges to be seamed, form seams, and solder. 4. Sealed Joints: Form movable joints in metal to accommodate elastomeric sealant to comply with SMACNA standards. 5. Conceal fasteners and expansion provisions where possible. Exposed fasteners are not allowed on faces of accessories exposed to view. 6. Fabricate cleats and attachment devices of size and metal thickness recommended by SMACNA (ASMM) or by metal roof panel manufacturer for application, but not less than thickness of metal being secured FINISHES A. General: 1. Comply with NAAMM AMP 500 for recommendations for applying and designating finishes. 2. Protect mechanical and painted finishes on exposed surfaces from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering before shipping. 3. Appearance of Finished Work: Noticeable variations in same piece are not acceptable. Variations in appearance of adjoining components are acceptable if they are within the range of approved Samples and are assembled or installed to minimize contrast. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances, metal roof panel supports, and other conditions affecting performance of the Work. B. Examine primary and secondary roof framing to verify that rafters, purlins, angles, channels, and other structural panel support members and anchorages have been installed within alignment tolerances required by metal roof panel manufacturer. 12 C. Examine solid roof sheathing to verify that sheathing joints are supported by framing or blocking and that installation is within flatness tolerances required by metal roof panel manufacturer. D. Examine roughing-in for components and systems penetrating metal roof panels to verify actual locations of penetrations relative to seam locations of metal roof panels before metal roof panel installation. E. Do not begin installation of preformed metal roof panels until substrates have been properly prepared PREPARATION A. Broom clean wood sheathing prior to installation of roofing system. B. Coordinate roofing work with provisions for roof drainage, flashing, trim, penetrations, and other adjoining work to assure that the completed roof will be free of leaks. C. Remove protective film from surface of roof panels immediately prior to installation. Strip film carefully, to avoid damage to prefinished surfaces. D. Separate dissimilar metals by applying a bituminous coating, self-adhering rubberized asphalt sheet, or other permanent method approved by roof panel manufacturer. E. Where metal will be in contact with wood or other absorbent material subject to wetting, seal joints with sealing compound and apply one coat of heavy-bodied bituminous paint INSTALLATION - UNDERLAYMENT A. Self-Adhering Sheet Underlayment: Apply primer if required by manufacturer. Comply with temperature restrictions of underlayment manufacturer for installation. Apply at locations indicated on drawings, wrinkle free, in shingle fashion to shed water, and with end laps of not less than 4 inches staggered 24 inches between courses. B. Apply slip sheet over underlayment before installing metal roof panels. C. Install flashings to cover underlayment to comply with requirements specified in Section INSTALLATION - METAL ROOF PANELS A. General: 1. Provide metal roof panels of full length from eave to ridge unless otherwise indicated. 2. Retain first paragraph below to allow thermal movement for panels. Delete for fixed panels. a. Thermal Movement. Rigidly fasten metal roof panels to structure at one and only one location for each panel. Allow remainder of panel to move freely for thermal expansion and contraction. Pre-drill panels for fasteners. (1) Point of Fixity: Fasten each panel along a single line of fixing located at ridge. City of Miami Project No. B of 15 PREFORMED METAL ROOF PANELS

13 (a) Avoid attaching accessories through roof panels in a manner that will inhibit thermal movement. b. Install metal roof panels as follows: (1) Commence metal roof panel installation and install minimum of 300 sq. ft. in presence of factory-authorized representative. (2) Field cutting of metal panels by torch is not permitted. (3) Locate and space fastenings in uniform vertical and horizontal alignment. (4) Provide metal closures at rake edges, rake walls, and each side of ridge, and hip caps. (5) Flash and seal metal roof panels with weather closures at eaves, rakes, and perimeter of all openings. (6) Install ridge and hip caps as metal roof panel work proceeds. (7) Install metal flashing to allow moisture to run over and off metal roof panels. c. Fasteners: Metal roof panels shall be secured to the supports in accordance with the approved manufacturer's fasteners. In the absence of manufacturer recommendations, stainless steel fasteners shall be used. d. Anchor Clips: Anchor metal roof panels and other components of the Work securely in place, using manufacturer's approved fasteners according to manufacturers' written instructions. e. Metal Protection: Where dissimilar metals will contact each other or corrosive substrates, protect against galvanic action by painting contact surfaces with bituminous coating, by applying rubberized-asphalt underlayment to each contact surface, or by other permanent separation as recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer. (1) Coat back side of roof panels with bituminous coating where roof panels will contact wood, ferrous metal, or cementitious construction. f. Joint Sealers: Install gaskets, joint fillers, and sealants where indicated and where required for weatherproof performance of metal roof panel assemblies. Provide types of gaskets, fillers, and sealants indicated or, if not indicated, types recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer. (1) Seal metal roof panel end laps with double beads of tape or sealant, full width of panel. Seal side joints where recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer. (2) Prepare joints and apply sealants to comply with requirements in Section B. Batten-Seam Metal Roof Panels: Fasten metal roof panels to supports with concealed clips at each batten-seam joint at location, spacing, and with fasteners recommended by manufacturer. 1. Install clips to supports with self-drilling fasteners. 2. Apply battens to metal roof panel seams, fully engaged to provide weathertight joints INSTALLATION - ACCESSORIES A. General: Install accessories with positive anchorage to building and weathertight mounting and provide for thermal expansion. Coordinate installation with flashings and other components. Install components required for a complete metal roof panel assembly including trim, copings, ridge closures, seam covers, flashings, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items. B. Flashing and Trim: Comply with performance requirements, manufacturer's written installation instructions, and SMACNA (ASMM). Provide concealed fasteners where possible, and set units true to line and level as indicated. Install work with laps, joints, and seams that will be permanently watertight and weather resistant. 1. Install exposed flashing and trim that is without excessive oil canning, buckling, and tool marks and that is true to line and levels indicated, with exposed edges folded back to form hems. Install sheet metal flashing and trim to fit substrates and to result in waterproof and weather-resistant performance. 2. Expansion Provisions: Provide for thermal expansion of exposed flashing and trim. Space movement joints at a maximum of 10 feet with no joints allowed within 24 inches of corner or intersection. Where lapped expansion provisions cannot be used or would not be sufficiently weather resistant and waterproof, form expansion joints of intermeshing hooked flanges, not less than 1 inch deep, filled with mastic sealant (concealed within joints). C. Gutters and Downspouts: 1. Gutters: Join sections with riveted and soldered or lapped and sealed joints. Attach gutters to eave with gutter hangers spaced not more than 36 inches o.c. using manufacturer's recommended fasteners. Provide end closures and seal watertight with sealant. Provide for thermal expansion. 2. Downspouts: Join sections with telescoping joints. Provide fasteners designed to hold downspouts securely 1 inch away from wall/column; locate fasteners at top and bottom and at approximately 60 inches o.c. in between. a. Connect downspouts to underground drainage system indicated. 3. Refer to Section for additional requirements. E. Roof Curbs: Install curbs at locations indicated on Drawings. Install flashing around bases where they meet metal roof panels. F. Pipe Flashing: Form flashing around pipe penetration and metal roof panels. Fasten and seal to metal roof panels as recommended by manufacturer FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Manufacturer's Field Service: Engage a factory-authorized service representative to inspect metal roof panel installation, including accessories. Report results in writing. B. Remove and replace applications of metal roof panels where inspections indicate that they do not comply with specified requirements. C. Additional inspections, at Contractor's expense, will be performed to determine compliance of replaced or additional work with specified requirements. D. Installation Tolerances: Shim and align metal roof panel units within installed tolerance of 1/4 inch in 20 feet on slope and location lines as indicated and within 1/8-inch offset of adjoining faces and of alignment of matching profiles. 15 3.07 CLEANING A. Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films, if any, as metal roof panels are installed unless otherwise indicated in manufacturer's written installation instructions. On completion of metal roof panel installation, clean finished surfaces as recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer. Maintain in a clean condition during construction. B. Replace metal roof panels that have been damaged or have deteriorated beyond successful repair by finish touchup or similar minor repair procedures 3.08 PROTECTION A. Do not permit storage of materials or roof traffic on installed roof panels. Provide temporary walkways or planks as necessary to avoid damage to completed work. Protect roofing until completion of project. B. Touch-up, repair, or replace damaged roof panels or accessories before date of Substantial Completion.
