PSTN r VIP telephnes. The gatekeeper f each academic institute cmmunicates with the central gatekeeper. The central gatekeeper maintains the addressing scheme fr gunet.gr and grnet.gr. 8 Service Characteristics Use f a natinal addressing scheme (using 10digit numbers). Use f an internatinal addressing scheme (E.164) fr calls t and frm the internatinal academic cmmunity cnnectecd t ViDeNet (internatinal VIP netwrk) The numbering scheme f all the academic institutes that participate int the service is maintained by the central gatekeeper. The requirement fr high availability f the service is satisfied by a secndary gatekeeper, which receives the requests f the institute gatekeeps when the primary gatekeeper ges ut f service.
