1 The Event Teams f peple cmpete in a quiz. One f the runds f questins will be based n the yellw theme t tie in with Big Yellw Friday. Yu culd cnsider hlding a raffle t increase prceeds (remember that there are certain regulatins abut hlding a raffle; ask fr ur infrmatin sheet abut this). Spread the wrd n scial media Scial media is a great way t spread the wrd abut yur event, whether it be t get peple t help, r t cme alng. Set up a Facebk event r tweet abut what yu re ding, and dn t frget t let CLDF knw t! Get sme tp tips and find ut mre at bigyellwfriday.rg/spreadthewrd Venue A suitable venue wuld be a club r rm with a bar, r a church, village r schl hall. Try t think f the peple wh are likely t attend, and then cnsider if the venue is likely t be easy fr them t get t, park etc. Planning and Organising Find a venue and negtiate a reasnable price. Explain that it is a charity event and try t get a discunt. Try pubs, clubs r similar but preferably with a bar. Cnsider what refreshments will be available and if these will be suitable. Yu will need peple t help with the rganisatin. Decide wh will be respnsible fr different activities, applicatin frms, spnsrship f teams, perhaps raffle prizes and refreshments etc. The event culd be held any evening but Friday r Saturday is likely t be the best t attract the mst peple. Publicise the event by putting up psters where necessary, and perhaps mail lcal cmpanies etc. Remember CLDF have psters, stickers, ballns etc t help yu advertise and supprt yur event. Decide whether yu are ging t have a raffle. If s, apprach lcal businesses and ask fr dnated items as prizes. Failing that, yu can buy prizes and take the csts ut f the prceeds. Yu will need t keep dcumentatin f this. Decide n the size f each team, and prduce registratin frms accrdingly. Include spaces fr the name f each team member, the team name and a cntact. Determine a prcedure fr receiving the frms back: is it n a first cme, first served basis? Or will yu nly send ut the same amunt f frms as there are team places, t avid verbking? 2 Decide wh will lead the quiz. It is prbably best that the rganiser des nt act as Quiz Master as that persn will need t be available t see that everything runs smthly. Yu culd ask a friend, family member r perhaps smene wh wrks at the venue. It is imprtant that the Quiz Master speaks clearly and is nt nervus when speaking in public. Obtain a set f quiz questins frm ne f the recmmended websites r write yur wn (althugh this culd take sme time!) Get the yellw rund f quiz questins fr CLDF! Quiz nights can smetimes get quite nisy, especially if it is being held in a pub. A micrphne will ensure that everyne can hear the quiz questins and n ne gets annyed! 2-3 Weeks Befre Check venue table arrangements and hw yu wuld like t layut the rm. Cntinue t check attendance expected. Cntact yur lcal newspaper. Can they cver the event? If yu haven t already, send a press release with infrmatin abut the event. Appint a phtgrapher t cver event. D nt frget t buy raffle tickets, if applicable. On the Day Arrive early t arrange the tables at least 2 hurs befre. Hld a briefing sessin t ensure everyne knws what they are ding.
