3 2 P a g e ProQuest BULK SMS GUIDE OUR INTERFACE Figure 1 SEND SMS Sending SMS is of three ways: Single SMS, Bulk SMS and Group SMS. Send Single SMS This option allow you to send SMS message to one cell phone number at a time. The cell number of the recipient is to be typed starting with the country code as indicated in the prefix in figure 2. Meanwhile, the Sender Name is to be typed using the customized sender ID you chose as written in the End User Sub-Licensed Agreement bearing in mind that sender ID must not exceed ten character text with spaces if any is provided. Type your message in the message box provided bearing in mind that 160 character text is considered as one sms (i.e. one sms unit credited), and if more than 160 character text is typed then it will deliver for the price of two sms units. Then click Submit button to deliver your message.

Open a new notepad 2. Type the phone numbers of your recipient starting with your country code first, followed by the network operator code, and then the phone numbers. Each individual phone number is typed in a separate line as shown in the diagram below. Figure 3

Login to your SMS account and click on Bulk SMS as indicated with the red arrow below Figure 4 5. Select message type as text 6. Select Upload file by clicking the Choose File to attach the notepad file that you created earlier, which contains your recipient s phone numbers 7. Type your Sender ID 8. Type your message in the message box provided. 9. Click Send to deliver your message.

6 5 P a g e ProQuest BULK SMS GUIDE Send Group SMS Go to Group SMS 1. Click on Import Contact, this is assuming that a contact list has been created already in the Address Book. 2. Select the Group that your message is to be send to by clicking the radio button as shown with the arrows below, and then click import. Figure 5

SHEDULE BULK SMS Bulk SMS scheduler enables you to define multiple messages, save and schedule them separately. You might need to send birthdays and season s greeting and don t want to forget about it, or maybe you just need to send SMS to persons in a different time zone. You do not need to initiate a Send/Receive in order to send the scheduled messages. Our messaging system will automatically do the delivery for you. Each time you add a new SMS message, you will be able to choose a particular date, time and recipient, then click send, the SMS will be sent automatically at the specified time without any user interaction. USE THE FOLLOWING STEPS TO SCHEDULE YOUR MESSAGES. 1. Type your Sender ID 2. Type your message in the message box provided.

Select date and time that your message should be delivered 6. Click send. DELIVERY REPORT A confirmation from the SMSC that your SMS message has been delivered to your recipient handset, waiting on the gateway or not delivered. When you submit an SMS message to the mobile network (to an SMSC), you get a submission report, that contains an ID field called message reference. This report indicates that your SMS message was accepted by the SMSC for delivery. The message reference in this message submission report is a number or a string that identifies your message in the SMSC. The message stays there until delivery becomes possible. This delivery can happen much later, for example if the recipient mobile phone is offline, and comes online later, if the phone number is not in use, or if the phone number is incorrect. It can take days.

9 8 P a g e ProQuest BULK SMS GUIDE When the recipient mobile phone becomes available, the message is delivered to it. After the delivery is successful to the recipient mobile phone a so called delivery report is returned. The delivery report indicates that the SMS has arrived to the recipient handset, and it contains the timestamp of delivery. Follow the steps below to view SMS report Figure 8 1. Select Report on your screen left pane. 2. Select SMS Report 3. Click Status to view different report options. 4. Select the Date when SMS was sent. 5. Then, click Search Group SMS With Group SMS you can send SMS text message to a group of contacts. This allow you to send your Group SMS or Bulk SMS with more control. This feature is also ideal for marketing campaigns. Group SMS will show you the groups that are already defined in your Address Book. You can also create new groups and modify existing groups. You can add contacts and remove contacts from groups. HOW TO CREATE GROUP USING THE ADDRESS BOOK 1. Click the Address Book on the left pane of your screen

On the Manage Group type your group name in the text box provided, and click Add as indicated with the arrow and your group is created. 4. You can view the groups you have created by clicking on the Select Group dropdown list indicated with the arrow. Figure 9 ADD CONTACT TO GROUPS There are two ways to add contact in the group. One way is doing it manually as described below. While another is by importing the contacts into the Contact List. ADD CONTACTS MANUALLY 1. Click the Group Name Drop-down list and select the particular group you wish to add a contact. 2. Type the contact Name and Contact Number on the text box provided as shown in the diagram below. 3. Click Add and your contact will be added as shown in the contact list below.

11 10 P a g e ProQuest BULK SMS GUIDE Figure 10 IMPORT CONTACTS INTO CONTACT LIST All Contacts should be in a line separated format. Names should be without spaces E.g. JoeSmith,1111 or John,22222 Names and Numbers within a contact should be comma(,)separated. For Example:Mike, Number You can Copy(Ctrl+C)-Paste(Ctrl+V) numbers from files. STEPS TO IMPORT CONTACTS 1. Click the Group Name Drop-down list and select the particular group you wish to import contact into. 2. Click the Import Contact and the screen as shown below will appear. 3. Copy contacts from your source and paste it in a way that all contact is in a line separated format, such that Names and Numbers within a contact are comma(,) separated. 4. Click the Import button as shown below, and your contacts will be imported automatically.

12 11 P a g e ProQuest BULK SMS GUIDE Figure 11 CREDIT DETAILS The credit detail tells you the amount of SMS Credit allotted to your account, the amount used, and the balance you have left in your SMS account.
