3 Lecture: Learning Goals Global Engineering/ CSCW/ Groupware Methods and techniques to analyse, select, developeand introduce CSCW/ Groupware Applications Non-technical aspects: virtual teams, inter cultural communication combining CSCW and SWE Lab: Learning goals Experience: Electronic meeting rooms Video conferencing studio Desktop Conferencing BSCW but also: - presentation techniques - working with research papers - writing skills (scientific style) Focus: NOT on overal functionality and general usage BUT on special features for team support/ CSCW Students shall be able to choose the right groupware for a given team 3

Stefan Werner Requirements for lectures: Fundamentals of Software- Engineering - Development methods (structured analysis and/or object oriented analysis) - Software life cycle Programming at least basic knowledge in one programming language Sample exam at the end of the semester Acquaintance with standard software (word processing, graphic program...) Lab: Registration Lab: Online registration required Website for online Registration Registration is open till Oct 28th Choose the correct degree course during registration! Lab schedule and group assignement will be published before November. Lab exercises do not start before November. Check Website for anouncement 4

5 Lab Groups consist of 3 (4) students Group assignment will be done by the institute!!! Special wishes (time, group mate,...) shall be send via (before Oct 28th) to [email protected] After the official announcement of group assignment and lab schedule their is no chance for any changes!! Lab attendance is mandatory as well as giving a final presentation and writing a paper Website for online Registration Lab Lab attendance is mandatory. Onlysuccessful Lab attendance guarantees all credits of CSCW & Software Engineering. Successful lab attendance will be documented on your Experiment manuals For students who miss more than one experiment the attendance can not be documented. 6 Lab Attandance Sheet Successful attendance can be documented on very experiment manual by two signatures Bring experiment manual to every experiment to get signatures!!! Students are allowed to do the antestat only if they finished all required preparation tasks in advance at home!! and if they show required results from the last experiment Website for online Registration Material Lectures: slides Lab: Manuals all material will be available online at latest one week before lecture/lab. All material can be downloaded from our institutes website: follow links to CSCW & Software Engineering folder It is mandatory to bring the respective experiment manual to every lab exercise 6
