2 WELCOME Thank you for purchasing one of our industry leading QVIS products. This user s guide is for the PC version of the Qvis Viewer remote monitoring software. Once installed upon a PC workstation, you will be able to remotely connect to your DVR/NVR either via the same local network or via the world wide web (if your PC workstation is connected to the Internet). The Qvis Viwer software provides you with the ability to monitor each camera as part of your CCTV network and to also scrutinise the footage in closer detail using the EPTZ function (Electronic Pan Tilt Zoom). The easy to use and clearly difined user interface, which will provide you an efficient work flow. 3 Downloading the software: Go to and click on the Support link running along near the top of the website. A dropdown menu with six options will appear and you will need to click the Downloads option. Click either the 64 or 32bit Windows CMS/Remote vieing software link (depending on what operating system you re running) under the Cyborg/Terminator heading. This will download the software to your computer. When you open the software, a dialog box will be open in the middle of the screen (highlighted by the red box) to add the device information needed to connect with the recorder. IP Address: This is the IP address assigned to the DVR during installation. Port Number: This is the Port number assigned to the DVR during installation. User Name and Password: Assigned in DVR. There can be multiple users with limited privileges, and these same privileges carry over to the Qvis Viewer as well. Device Name: If the DVR has been named, enter it here. After clicking OK The DVR and cameras will appear on the left side of the screen (as highlighted by the red box). Copyright Qvis. All documentation rights reserved. Page 2

4 There are several menus used to operate the Viewer and NVR: File: When you click this menu, a dropdown menu with a Quit option will come up. This will close Qvis Viewer. Edit: This menu will give you several options to adjust and customize the Viewer to your needs. Select All: This option highlights the cameras in the matrix and allows them to be moved to different boxes by clicking on the box and dragging and dropping it. Unselect All: Unhighlights the cameras in the matrix. Add DVR: Gives you the ability to add more devices and view them all from the same program. Copyright Qvis. All documentation rights reserved. 5 Edit DVR: Click on the chosen DVR and click this option to change any of the info entered in the Add Device box. Remove DVR: Click the DVR on the left side of the Viewer, then click Remove DVR. A box asking if you are sure you want to remove the device will appear. Click Yes to remove or No to cancel. DVR Settings: This option allows you to log into the DVR and change the settings. A log in screen identical to the log in screen of the DVR will pop up and you will enter your username and password. Backup Video: This option will also bring up the log in screen to the DVR. 6 Preferences: After clicking on this option, a submenu box will open with several customizable choices and their options Layouts Sequence Thumbnails Playback Bandwidth Sessions View: This menu allows you to change the appearance of the Qvis Viewer menu. Show Toolbar: By clicking this option, you can check and uncheck whether or not the toolbar is visible: on the Viewer. Show Status Bar: Clicking this option will check and uncheck whether or not the status bar is visible on the Viewer. Show Devices: Clicking this option will check and uncheck whether or not the devices connected to the Viewer are visible on the window. Show Selected: This option allows you to only display certain cameras in the viewing matrix. By holding the Ctrl button while clicking the cameras you want displayed and then clicking this option, a custom matrix will appear on the screen showing the chosen video feed. 7 Sequence: Allows you to show selected cameras, one by one, in a timed interval. Click the cameras you want in the rotation while holding the Ctrl button, then click this option to view the rotation. Sequence All: Allows the viewer to show all the cameras, one at a time, in a timed rotation. Tools: There are 2 tools listed under this menu, the Playback tool and the IP Camera tool. Playback Tool: By clicking this, a new section on the left hand side of the Viewer window will pop up. The top row of buttons Rewind, Play, Pause, Stop, and Fast Forward the recorded video you are reviewing. 8 IP Camera Tool: This tool allows you to search for and configure IP cameras connected directly to the computer instead of an N Help: Clicking this will bring up the information and version number of the Qvis Viewer program (highlighted by the red box below). 9 The toolbar below the program menus repeats many of the same options listed above, but more conveniently located. This tool bar can also be hidden. You can design custom layout, depending on the number of cameras desired to be displayed. Click on the matrix you want then drag and drop the cameras from the left to the matrix box. Copyright Qvis. 10 EPTZ: This function give the user the ability to digitally zoom in and out of the video, without having to use a motorized Pan, Tilt, Zoom camera. Place mouse cursor over the matrix window you would like to zoom on. Right click the mouse, and click the E-PTZ option. The Pan-Tilt-Zoom window will open. The arrow pan and tilt functions are not available on a regular camera. However, you can digitally zoom in and out of the video feed. When done, click the Done button to close.
