3 A Virtual Training Platform for real emergencies Real-life training is an excellent way to develop competences, but is often time-consuming and expensive. RescueSim is an incident management simulator that prepares safety and security professionals for incidents by letting them train in a realistic virtual environment, without the dangers, costs and time associated with traditional training. RescueSim allows emergency crews to experience the incident as they would in real-life. They assess the situation and determine the best response strategy, implement it and then observe the consequences of their decisions. With RescueSim, users experience can try different response strategies for each incident. Professional Instructors can easily build any incident scenario using the intuitive toolbox and have full control over events during the exercise, changing the incident on the fly. For after action debriefing, a detailed log of all actions allows evaluation and assessment after the exercise. The benefits of virtual incident command training Train whenever, wherever without the need for extensive logistics and material Improve operational preparedness of the emergency response organisation Avoid high practical training costs Multidepartmental training with different emergency services is possible Learn new skills in a safe environment Specialised training courses offered in cooperation with partners Realistic 3D training environments, company specific or generic Complete control and flexibility for the instructor before & during scenarios Logging of all actions and decisions for debriefing Rescuesim allows Toledo Fire And Rescue Department members to train in a safe and controlled environment whenever and wherever convenient. Thomas Jaksetic Deputy Chief Of The Toledo (USA) Fire & Rescue Dept
4 Realistic exercise locations: More than 150 different exercise locations, high level of realism Key elements of RescueSim incident command training Generic, country-specific or fully customised environments Accessible buildings, dynamic damage visualization Unlimited incident scenarios: Flexibility to create any incident in any exercise environment Incident scenarios are easy to make using drag-and-drop Extensive objects database with over 530 interactive objects Dynamic scenario evolution using timeline, triggers, waypoints Multiple incidents possible in a single exercise Interactive roleplaying functionality: Participant experiences the incident as in real life and is able to use all available equipment, tools and people at his disposal. Scalable training setups Adaptable to each incident command level STRATEGIC Coordination of response for large-scale incidents Resource planning and infrastructural impact management FOR Emergency operation centers Municipal crisis teams TACTICAL Team management Communication Processes and protocols Coordination of response strategies FOR On-scene commanders First response coordinators OPERATIONAL Specific protocols Communication Operational discipline FOR Emergency response units First responders - 4 -
5 SCALAble training setups RescueSim allows for multidepartmental training involving different emergency services all taking part in the incident. It caters for full cooperation, communication and coordination training during any incident. ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING Train a specific role during an incident. An individual trainee is trained by the instructor. Due to the direct communication and feedback that the instructor provides, the trainee is able to achieve predefined learning goals. For a trainee, this training method is frequently experienced as an in-depth approach to their day-to-day activities. By involving largescale scenarios the trainee will be prepared for the incidents which can not be trained in reallife exercises. The smaller scale scenarios are used to prepare the trainee for evacuation, observation and taking the appropriate first steps. CLASSROOM TRAINING An instructor and multiple trainees participate. One trainee is assigned the leadership role and takes the controls during the scenario. The other participants assist and discuss which decisions are to be taken. This module focuses on the interaction between the trainees. During this training, trainees will each have a different approach to an incident. By discussing and simulating these various approaches, the group of trainees will learn to determine the best possible solution to a realistic problem. MULTI-USER TRAINING This training method allows multiple users to participate in joint training exercises simultaneously. Multi-user exercises can be done either with different roles within a single agency or with multiple agencies and departments. Multi-user training allows full coordination training between different emergency services and departments simultaneously, and enables training at operational, tactical and strategic level
