Course descriptions are available on request. The classes that are enrolling new students are as follows: If you require a different time from the ones listed below, please inform us and we shall advise you as and when vacancies arise for your children. 2 Stanford University s Education Program for Gifted Youth Hong Kong Exclusive Center Member of ISTE, USA InfoKids IT courses - for the Elite 1 junior (for Age 5-8) Surpasses and leads Course Outline 2 for each year (10 months starting Sept ending July) are as follows: Year 1 is our Beginner course and Years 2 is our Intermediate courses for the Elite Juniors. They make extensive use of school projects in US primary school for teaching. Year 1 Year 2 Around the world - a junior geography course with introduction on graphics and simple word processing techniques My Stationery Pack an introduction on graphics course making labels, cards and banners with internet download My Favourite Math - a junior mathematics course with introduction on the use of a spreadsheet and charting Brain Teasers- a thinking skills course with emphasis on the use of color and patterns Musical instruments- a junior music course with introduction on the sound aspects of a computer. My Disney Tour- a junior internet course with introduction to simple publishing skills making a book on the Tour Legoland- a junior map reading course with introduction to virtual reality application on computers Robotics - a junior robotics course with introduction to simple programming using logo as a language My Photo Stickers learning to use digital camera and making lovely photo stickers with simple photo editing skills Ocean Adventures- a junior marine biology course with introduction on using a scanner to make a multimedia screen saver Simulation a junior simulation course to introduce the use of simulation in daily projects and how to tackle problems. Windows 98 - Basic understanding of operating system and hardware The following courses will also be offered from time to time: Calendar making, T shirt making 1 Elite Junior courses are suitable for children aged 5 and above. They are being prepared to continue with the main stream IT courses for Elite Senior 2 Subject to curriculum changes from time to time. Each course in year 1 and 2 is normally for 8 lessons of 1 hour each.
3 Stanford University s Education Program for Gifted Youth Hong Kong Exclusive Center Member of ISTE, USA InfoKids IT courses - for the Elite 3 senior (for ages 9 +) - Surpasses and leads Course Outline 4 for each year (10 months starting Sept ending July) are as follows: Year 1 is our Beginner course and Years 2 and 3 are our Intermediate courses. They make extensive use of school projects in US middle school for teaching. Courses from Year 2 onwards are not offered in primary or secondary schools in Hong Kong. They start preparing students with active involvement into the IT world. Year 4 is our Advanced courses and make use of real life samples in preparation for the students to accept the challenges of universities and the working environment. Year 1 Year 2 Windows 98 - Basic understanding of operating system and hardware Word Processing - Basic knowledge of font, text wrap, images to compile stories, letters, school projects. Graphics - understanding images and differences between bitmap and vector. How cliparts are compiled? Design posters, name cards and charts. Spreadsheet - understanding how repetitive calculations are simplified using the computer, collecting data and presenting as charts Internet - understanding about the WWW, , gopher, Ftp, telnet and how downloads and search engines help in data retrieval. Presentation learn to use a multimedia electronic slide show s magic to capture an audience s attention Advanced Report Writing - all there is in a Harvard University report to learning full formatting, tables, headings, table of contents etc. Basic Programming Use Lego to build a greenhouse model and use logo to program, experiement and control it. Photostyling learn the basics of colors and background editing in your images and photos. How to blend images together? Photoshop applications real life examples on applications to web design and comic making Desktop publishing - full integration of text and graphics into newsletters, catalogues and flyers Animation - Understanding animated cartoon. How to make a simple animation with sound and background? How to morph? Year 3 Year 4 Communication - learn to make use of your computer as a center of communication - fax, chat, file transfer, internet phone and video conferencing. 3D learn the basics of 3D 2D drawing, extrusion, coloring and rendering making use of cinema models. Advanced Web Publishing learn basic gif animation, frames, mapediting, cgi forms and java scripts also combine 3D skill applications Database - understanding the full power behind a database. How to create, query and report based on data you have collected. Intermediate Programming Pascal : in preparation of your high school computer course Video Editing learn to capture and edit video image and sound. Learn transition effects, chroma keys and multi - channel control and rendering. Flash Web animation with programming to enhance design on web games. Tie in with your web publishing skills. Auto CAD learn pedit, region, array, evolve, section in 2D/3D drawings as well as building and setting multi-layer structures and objects. CD Design and Creation the ultimate multimedia CD design using Macromedia director as the tool. Advanced Programming C Stanford University EPGY course The following courses will also be offered from time to time: Simulation, LegoCAD 3 Elite Senior courses are for students 9 years + and prepare them for advancement to Stanford University EPGY Programming courses 4 Subject to curriculum changes from time to time. Each course in year 1 and 2 is normally for 8 lessons of 1 hour each while courses from year 3 onwards may run up to 16 hours per course.

One month s notice in writing is required if withdrawing from the course. 7. InfoKids reserves the right to change the date, time and venue of the course offered. 8.
