5 The Partners Cass Business School London, UK The Sir John Cass Business School is a modern, forwardlooking institution with over 40 years at the leading edge of business education. Established in 1966 as City University Business School, it was renamed Cass Business School in Since then it has continued its upward trajectory. Copenhagen Business School (CBS) Copenhagen, Denmark Copenhagen Business School is a private educational institution. It was established in 1917 by the Danish Society for the Advancement of Business Education (now known as FUHU). University of St. Gallen (HSG) St. Gallen, Switzerland Founded in 1898, the University of St. Gallen (HSG) continues to pursue the goal of providing students with a practice-oriented education, guided by an integrated conception of business, economics, law, and social sciences. While the five Bachelor programs provide general and diversified education, the Master programs (the majority of which are taught in English) allow students to attain a greater depth of understanding of theoretical and practical subjects. 7 BRIC Destination Indian Institute of Management (IIMA) Ahmedabad, India IIMA was established on 11 December 1961, with the mission to help India and other developing countries improve their managerial practices both in the private and public sectors, and adopt superior public policies. It seeks to do this through producing risk-taking leaders and managers who will pioneer new management practices and set new standards; through producing teachers and researchers who will generate new ideas of international significance; and through purposeful consulting aimed at helping client organizations scale new heights. Keio University Tokyo, Japan Keio University is a private, comprehensive higher education institution located on six campuses spread across the Greater Tokyo area. It offers an environment of academic and research excellence in a wide range of fields, and includes a university hospital. Founded in 1858, it is Japan s first modern institution of higher learning, and over the last century and a half it has established itself as a leader in Japan through its continued commitment to education, research and medicine. BRIC Destination Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) Moscow, Russia MGIMO is the diplomatic school of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. It is the oldest and the most renowned school in Russia for preparing specialists in international relations and diplomacy. MGIMO was founded on 14 October 1944, when the USSR Council of People s Commissars reorganized the School of International Relations of the Moscow State University into an autonomous institute. MGIMO provides training in the fields of international relations, political science, global economy, law, management, journalism and public relations to 4,500 undergraduate students as well as graduate researchers. Queen s School of Business Kingston, Ontario, Canada Queen s is one of Canada s leading universities, with an international reputation for scholarship, research, social purpose and spirit. 9 The State University of New York (SUNY) Albany, New York, USA SUNY offers rigorous academic programs taught by worldclass faculty, who, along with their students, pursue and enjoy challenging opportunities. Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium Founded in 1425, the Université Catholique de Louvain is one of Europe s oldest universities. Its headquarters are located in Louvain-la-Neuve, a recent university town in the Brussels metropolitan area. Its department of economics (now the Economic School of Louvain) is home to two well-known research centers, CORE and IRES and has a doctorate program that is ranked amongst the best in Europe. UCL finds it important that students take responsibility for their own academic careers. Most faculties participate in the Manage your education project, which, amongst other things, aims to make the curriculum more flexible, allowing students to personalize their studies by mixing different forms of education (e.g. lectures, tutorials, group assignments, individual assignments and general knowledge courses), or by taking classes in other departments. Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) Lisbon, Portugal After a long period of planning, the Portuguese Bishops Conference launched the project of a University in Over the years Universidade Catolica Portuguesa has established its position through its high quality teaching, demanding training programs, the prestige of its faculty, and the many leading managers, lawyers, officials, businessmen it has taught and who have been successful both in Portugal and internationally. Divided into 18 faculties, UCP currently offers 45 degree programs, over forty post-graduate and master courses, is attended by 11,300 students and has around 1,000 teaching faculty. Universität Mannheim Mannheim, Germany Founded in 1907, Universität Mannheim is one of the leading universities in Germany and in Europe. It is renowned for its economic and social sciences which are closely intertwined with humanities, law, mathematics and computer science. Its schools and research institutes cooperate in numerous international research networks. As of today, there are a total of around 11,000 students and 166 professors. 10 University of Melbourne Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a publicspirited institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research, learning and teaching and engagement. It is consistently ranked among the leading universities in the world, with international rankings of world universities placing it as number 1 in Australia and number 34 in the world. The University has 22 discipline-specific faculties and graduate schools, over 47,000 students and 6,500 staff members. There are more than 12,000 international students enrolled from 130 countries. University of Sydney Business School Sydney, Australia Founded in 1920 as the Faculty of Economics, the University of Sydney Business School has around 7,000 students and 300 faculty members. University of Queensland (UQ) Brisbane, Australia Founded in 1910, the University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia s premier learning and research institutions. Internationally renowned for its highly awarded teaching staff, world-class facilities and superior campus environment, 43,700 students, including 10,465 international students from over 130 countries, choose to study at UQ. Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) Vienna, Austria With about 24,000 students from Austria and abroad, WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is the EU s largest educational institution for business and economics, business law, and social sciences. WU s students benefit from its outstanding faculty and its wide selection of degree programs at the bachelor, master and PhD levels. Internationally-oriented programs are attracting a constantly increasing number of international students to WU. Currently, 26% of WU s degree students are from outside Austria, and within the English-taught MSc programs the percentage is even higher. WU is the only university of its size to be accredited by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System). This distinction has been granted to only 130 universities worldwide, and it is WU s most important quality indicator. 10

11 BRIC Destination Fudan University, School of Management Shanghai, China Fudan University was founded in the year 1905 in Shanghai and today is one of the most renowned universities in China. Its School of Management is Bocconi s main Chinese partner. The University has over 36,000 current students, 2,800 of whom are foreign students. The faculty has 2,100 professors. It has 29 schools and departments with 70 disciplines and 225 Master degree disciplines. Fudan has established cooperation agreements with universities from over 30 countries, including Harvard University, Yale University, the University of California at Berkeley, Cornell University and MIT. 11
