1 NIHR Clinical Research Network Learning Management System (LMS) The LMS is an online system to enable researchers undertaking NIHR portfolio related research to access a variety of online and taught courses. Pan Birmingham Cancer Research Network can provide local research staff with access to this system and will manage course approvals. To access the course directory, please follow the link to register for an LMS account at: When registering, please complete all fields including: Please select NCRN: NIHR Cancer Research Network Please select Pan Birmingham Cancer Research Network Please complete details about your research role Please create a username & password (N.B The First name and Surname entered here will be displayed on all attendance certificates) Please enter a telephone number so that we can expedite booking authorisations and/or contact you in the event of changes to courses You will receive confirmation of your username and password please retain these log-in details as you will need them to download certificates of attendance and access course materials. Courses that you are eligible for will automatically appear in your Learning Plan. This can be accessed via the second tab on the bar along the top of the screen. 2 Booking training via LMS: Introduction to GCP Details of all courses in the BBC CLRN / PBCRN region are listed online: You can book a course immediately after you have created your account or if you have an existing LMS account sign in to the LMS system at: using the username and password that you created when you registered. Go to your learning plan - this can be accessed via the second tab on the bar along the top of the screen. You can view, book and cancel courses in the learning plan as well as access course information. ***N.B. courses listed in your learning plan are not compulsory, simply available to you should you wish to access them*** To book a one day GCP workshop in the Birmingham & Black Country region: 1. 3 Other GCP Introductory courses The one day Introduction to GCP course is applicable for all research staff. However, there are now specific courses for staff working in PAEDIATRIC settings and PRIMARY CARE settings. To book a one day Paediatric GCP Workshop: 1. 4 GCP Refresher courses The half day GCP refresher course is applicable for all experienced research staff. This course is designed to provide an update to GCP and is not suitable for anyone who is new to GCP or who has not previously completed an Introduction to GCP course. 5 E-learning GCP course The NIHR e-learning GCP module is designed to provide a basic introduction to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the EU Directives, UK Regulations and Research Governance Framework requirements covering research conducted within the NHS. Primary and Secondary Care pathways are included. The course has been specifically designed to focus on the practical application of GCP in the conduct of research in the NHS and is aimed at people who are recruiting participants and gathering study data in local research sites. It may be used as part of an induction programme and consolidated by attending a taught introductory course, or as a stand alone training option for new or returning researchers. You should expect the course to take you up to half a day (approximately four hours). To request access to the e-learning module: 1. Select the link to GCP e-learning which will open in a new window 2. Select to Request access to the course 3. Your request will be authorised by a member of the NIHR national workforce development team usually within one working day.
