8 Ferris ISD 2013 Accountability Summary Ferris ISD- Met Standard Ferris HS- Met Standard Ferris JHS- Met Standard Ferris Intermediate- Met Standard McDonald Elementary- Met Standard This was the first year of the new accountability system. The district and all campuses achieved the highest accountability rating awarded by the Texas Education Agency.

9 Hazel Ingram Elementary School PreK and Kindergarten campus with 389 students No TEA campus rating Instituted Breakfast in the Classroom for all students Recently completed reroofing project All grade-level staff members plan collaboratively during their PLC time The groundwork for learning is set at Ingram Elementary. Students develop their school related habits that they will carry with them throughout their education career.

10 Lucy Mae McDonald Elementary School First, Second and Third Grade campus with 519 students TEA- Met Standard campus- The highest TEA rating Highly organized PLC (Professional Learning Community) aids staff in planning and preparing for excellence Very active PTO program Hosts numerous community related activities: Annual Art Gala, Family Fiesta, Crime Watch meetings, and others Excellent student Art and Music programs

11 Ferris Intermediate School Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth grade campus with 522 students. TEA Met Standard campus-tea s highest rating. Award winning Choir and Band program Students are very active in Academic UIL and the Ellis County Science Fair Staff using PLC planning and preparation strategies Campus houses Elementary Police Officer Smith

12 Ferris Junior High School Seventh and Eighth grade campus with 391 students. TEA- Met Standard campus. TEA s highest rating. Students begin to participate in UIL regulated sports. Students also participate in cheerleading, choir and band. Students can take for credit high school courses in: Spanish 1, Algebra 1, and Ag. Science 101. Faculty and staff sponsor the annual Kyle King Scholarship Fun Run

Installed State of the Art Graphic Design lab Implemented new CATE offerings in Floral Design and Horticulture Scholarship total for 2013 graduates exceeded $650,000 Band program received Superior rating with many students qualifying for All Region Band Choir program wins top recognition at competition FHS club participate in numerous local and area events: Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, Pennies for Patients, Carter Blood Drive, Ferris Earth Day Activities, Pioneer Day, and many more.

18 Fine Arts Accomplishments McDonald Elementary and Ferris Junior High School hosted A Night with the Arts Band and Choir participation is up at Ferris Intermediate, Ferris Junior High, and Ferris High School FHS Solo & Ensemble- 12 advance to State Solo & Ensemble Competition. 3 receive First Division ratings. 1 student is competing for ALL State Band. First Division rating in UIL Concert and Sight Reading Competition. First Division rating in UIL Marching Competition & Area Qualifying Band. Bands & Choirs host very successful Holiday Concerts Ferris JH Choir wins Great Wolf Lodge Choir Competition

19 UIL Athletic Achievements Football 11-3AAA District Champions with 28 named to All District. 3 players on 2 nd Team All State Academic Team. Volleyball 11-3AAA Bi-District Runner-Ups with 4 players named to All-District. Cross Country- 11-3AAA District Runner-Ups. Boys and Girls CC teams competed at Regional Meet. Baseball 11-3AAA District Champions with several All District awards. Softball-11-3AAA District Champions with several All District awards. Track- 11-3AAA District Champions in all 4 areas with several competing at Regionals. Lyndsey Hulgan 3 rd place at State UIL Track Meet Shotput Golf- 11-3AAA District Champs Boys & Girls PowerLifting- 3 competed at Regional Meet Soccer- Both Boys & Girls played for the Area Championship Two FHS Athletic Trainers attend TCU Athletic Trainers Camp FJHS- 280 students in the JH athletic program Most students ever to participate in FISD athletics

Teams participated in Area and State competitions at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Ferris FFA Members attended the State FFA Convention in Dallas. FCCLA, FFA, and various classes participated in local parades NHS at FHS sponsored: Angel Tree, Pennies for Patients, Cystic Fibrosis Run, Race for the Cure and Canned Food Drive Ferris FFA continues to show livestock and shop projects at various shows throughout the state

21 District Wide Activities Held 6 th Annual Family Fiesta at McDonald Elementary Hosted College & Career Fair with over 50 major universities, trade schools, and armed service recruiters attending Open our campuses/facilities to: Pee Wee Football, Ferris Soccer, Ferris Little Dribblers, Neighborhood Crime Watch, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Kyle King Scholarship Run, and Pioneer Day 5 K. Held Choir and Band Concerts for Holiday season All staff members and students participated in Red Ribbon Week

22 Student Experiences Ferris HS Student Athletes served Thanksgiving dinner to over 100 homeless and less priveleged citizens Ferris ISD students took educational field trips to: Perot Museum, Dallas Holocaust Museum, Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Symphony, Dallas Theatre Center, and others Ferris JHS students participated in the ELECT Student Leadership Development Program Ferris students participated in the Ellis County Spelling Bee and the Ellis County Science Fair 12 Ferris HS students served at the George Bush Memorial Library Dedication Ceremony Ferris ISD hosted Dunbar School alumni at Yellowjacket Stadium

23 General Information Continue to recognize HERO recipients at Ferris ISD Board meetings Offering Night-time ESL classes for parents at McDonald Elementary Purchased over 700 I Pads for student use throughout the district. I Pads are in use at the campuses All teachers and administrators were issued I Pads for instructional enhancement State of the Art Graphic Design Mac Lab installed at Ferris High School Greenhouse for Floral Design and Horticulture classes built at FHS All classroom computers have been replaced and upgrades Network Switching System has been replaced with upgraded system

24 Ferris ISD Areas of Concern Student performance on state assessment testing. Developing instructional delivery system that brings all students up to state expectations State & Federal Funding of Public Education Competing with surrounding districts for top students. We must upgrade course offerings and make Ferris ISD attractive The increasing number of FISD students that qualify as At Risk and qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch Program. These students require additional services. Keeping FISD students safe and all of our facilities secure
