2 MISSION STATEMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS AND COMMUNITY, THE DISTRICT SHALL CREATE AND SUSTAIN AN ENVIRONMENT TO MAXIMIZE THE POTENTIAL OF EACH LEARNER VISION STATEMENT INSPIRING STUDENTS THROUGH INNOVATIVE EDUCATION BELIEFS The following Forney ISD Board beliefs guide district decisions: Truth and honesty are non-negotiable Graduates should be equipped to pursue whatever path forward they desire (career, higher education, technical) We will provide the best opportunity for students to become productive contributors to society Each child has a right to an education that will allow him/her to maximize his/her abilities Schools should foster a secure and safe environment that instills a student s desire for knowledge and a love for learning People are our best resources Quality educators are the foundation for quality education We should be fiscally responsible with taxpayer money Students are our focal point and all decisions should be made in their best interest A partnership between community and the district is essential for developing a quality educational system

3 Forney ISD District Goals Goal # 1 Accountability and Learning We will effectively deliver a rigorous and relevant curriculum using technology, assessment data and other effective instructional strategies to engage all learners in meaningful learning experiences. Goal # 2 Business/Finance In order to maximize taxpayer dollars, Forney ISD will work diligently to ensure fiscal responsibility in all areas throughout the District. Goal # 3 Operations FISD will work to increase efficiency in district operations while ensuring a safe, orderly and healthy environment to support and promote student learning. Goal # 4 Communications/Community and Business Relations Through open and timely communication, FISD will partner with parents, community and businesses to provide the best educational opportunities for our students.

4 Forney ISD District Objectives Forney ISD Division: Accountability and Learning We will effectively deliver a rigorous and relevant curriculum using technology, assessment data and other effective instructional strategies to engage all learners in meaningful learning experiences. Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Goal: Will ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach his/her fullest potential by aligning, enriching, and differentiating our curriculum and instruction within and across grade levels; using a team approach; focusing on data, re-evaluating and revising for continuous improvement; and providing appropriate professional development. Objective 1: By , 90% of FISD teachers will use the Scope and Sequence, Year Overview, and appropriate Planning Guides for creating engaging lessons in Forethought. Objective 2: By , 90% of FISD professional development opportunities will increase student academic achievement through improving teacher and principal quality. Objective 3: By , 90% of FISD assessments will be used to measure both the objectives of the curriculum and what is being taught. Student Services and Special Programs Goal: Will provide quality services and programs, support and professional development. Objective 1: Provide quality services to the students, parents, faculties and communities of Forney ISD. Objective 2: Provide quality programs to the students of Forney ISD. Objective 3: Provide support and professional development to the staff and faculty of Forney ISD. Special Populations Goal: Will provide individualized services by putting student needs first, serving all campuses, and implementing procedures to help insure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Objective 1: Putting Students First by improving the ARD process to increase active participation by all required committee members. Objective 2: Serving Our Campuses by establishing lines of communication with campus administration and providing quality professional training for Special Population staff Objective 3: Protecting Our District by identifying program areas in need of improvement and implementing procedures to insure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Objective 4: Improve Parent Communication to foster an atmosphere of collaboration between home and school.

5 Forney ISD District Objectives Forney ISD Division Goal 1: Accountability and Learning We will effectively deliver a rigorous and relevant curriculum using technology, assessment data and other effective instructional strategies to engage all learners in meaningful learning experiences. Technology Goal: Focus on the Technology planning process. Objective 1: Maintain oversight of technology innovation and planning. Objective 2: Maintain a process to ensure software purchases are cost effective. Goal: Provide personnel with advanced tools to provide adequate technology support and sustain minimal service downtime. Objective 1: Provide technical staff with advanced tools to efficiently manage and support district technology. Goal: Provide FISD with access to a robust infrastructure for technology resources. Objective 1: Provide all workstations with high speed internet access. Goal: Optimize resources to ensure sustainable technologies through a Lifecycle Management Plan. Objective 1: Maintain a 5-year update cycle on district laptops. Objective 2: Maintain a 5-year update cycle for district desktop computers Objective 3: Provide access to current application software. Objective 4: Ensure every student has access to advanced computer peripherals and supplies. Objective 5: Maintain viability of network infrastructure.

6 Forney ISD Division Goal 2. Business and Finance In order to maximize taxpayer dollars, Forney ISD will work diligently to ensure fiscal responsibility in all areas throughout the District. Business Operations Objective 1: Safeguard all assets by maintaining appropriate insurance levels and facilitate claims, when necessary, cost efficiently Objective 2: Ensure all contracts are executed and maintained in the best interest of Forney ISD Objective 3: Ensure PEIMS coding is accurate so all state aid dollars entitled to Forney ISD are collected Payroll Objective 1: Provide a high-quality, low-cost benefit package to employees Objective 2: Ensure all employees receive an accurate employee paycheck Objective 3: Demonstrate compliance with local, state, and federal laws Accounting Objective 1: Ensure accurate, transparent data is presented to stakeholders Objective 2: Demonstrate compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines Objective 3: Maintain segregation of duties for all accounting functions Accounts Payable Objective 1: Objective 2: Objective 3: Provide stakeholders with mechanism to request, order, and receive products and services necessary to meet their needs Demonstrate compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines Ensure functions exist to minimize duplicate payments or inaccurate payments

7 Forney ISD Division Goal 3: Operations FISD will work to increase efficiency in district operations while ensuring a safe, orderly and healthy environment to promote student learning. Athletics Goal: Will produce a holistic program committed to the physical, mental, and emotional development of student-athletes. Our defining goal will be to guide learners to reach their full potential, producing success through junior high, high school, and life beyond. Objective 1: Objective 2: Vertical Alignment Define, communicate, and facilitate the linear progression of learners through a systematic developmental process. Participation Rate - Maximize the number of learners impacted by the program through available personnel, resources. Objective 3: Objective 4: Objective 5: Efficiency in Operation Accurately predict the resources necessary to keep participants safe, engaged, and improving. Positive Impact- We believe that school pride = patriotism, standards of student behavior = citizenship, and highly competitive habits = upward mobility. We will increase awareness of program goals and expand shareholder base. Focus on Character Development We will develop a common theme of character development throughout the athletic program. Objective 6: Highly Competitive, Consistent with Abilities We will measure progress of each program and initiative and demand levels of action aimed at overachieving. Objective 7: Consistency in Accountability and Management We will develop and communicate clearly-defined expectations and practices for participants, coaches, parents, and fans. Objective 8: Responsibility and Discipline We will communicate and reliably enforce expectations of behavior, scholarship, and level of effort for student-athletes. Objective 9: Facilities Thousands of first impressions of our schools will be of athletic facilities. We will enact systems to ensure safe and wellcared for athletic buildings, courts, fields, and venues. Objective 10: Participant Safety We will seek avenues to maintain or improve the level of safety offered to our participants.

8 Forney ISD Division Goal 3: Operations FISD will work to increase efficiency in district operations while ensuring a safe, orderly and healthy environment to promote student learning. Child Nutrition Goal: Provide healthy, nutritious and appetizing meals to the students and staff of Forney ISD. Objective 1: Prepare and serve healthy meals that are appealing to students Objective 2: Implement new meal guidelines of Healthy Hunger-Free Act of 2010 Objective 3: Operate the child nutrition department to be financially solvent Fine Arts Goal: The FISD Visual and Performing Arts will compete and be recognized among the finest in the area with superior/excellent recognition in group as well as individual competitions Objective 1 (Music): UIL Ratings will reflect superior/excellent performances in all categories of competition (Marching, Concert, Sight- Reading) and individual student accomplishments will excel in All Region, Area, State and Solo-Ensemble competitions Objective 2 (Theatre): Public and UIL Theatre productions will demonstrate an excellent understanding of acting, technical, choreography, Objective 3 (Dance): and musical competencies Dance Teams will demonstrate superior performances at half-time football games, stage performances and competitions throughout the year Objective 4 (Visual Arts): Students will excel in public shows, VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), Young American Talent (Booker T. Washington School of the Arts), Area, State and National competitions, demonstrating an excellent understanding of all visual arts techniques Health Services Goal: Promote wellness & safety with all staff & students to increase productivity and effective learning. Objective 1: Increase employee wellness and safety awareness Objective 2: Increase student awareness of a healthy lifestyle Objective 3: Standardize operations within the Health Services Department to increase the quality and efficiency of the care being provided

9 Forney ISD Division Goal 3: Operations FISD will work to increase efficiency in district operations while ensuring a safe, orderly and healthy environment to promote student learning. Human Resources Goal: To facilitate all Forney ISD departments maintaining a high quality work force. Objective 1: Reduce turnover rate to 12% Objective 2: Facilitate the implementation of a functional, systematic means of managing employee data Objective 3: Achieve a fill rate of at least 99% for openings requiring substitutes Maintenance and Energy Management Goal: Maintain an energy efficient, safe, clean and secure environment that is conducive for learning. Objective 1: Budget maintain a functional budget Objective 2: Custodial - maintain a clean environment for students and staff Objective 3: Grounds maintain a safe and manicured outside environment Objective 4: Maintenance maintain functional school buildings Objective 5: Energy Operate and record energy efficiency

Safety and Security Goal: To help support and provide a safe and secure school environment for all students, staff, parents and community members. Objective 1: Create and maintain a safe environment for all students and staff Objective 2: Promote awareness training to students and staff to better understand the role of law enforcement in education Objective 3: Build and cultivate a rapport of respect with students based on law enforcement, counseling and teaching Transportation Goal: The purpose of the Forney ISD Transportation Department is to provide safe and efficient pupil transportation in the most economical means for serving all of the eligible students residing in the school district. Objective 1: Set operations, policies and standards to implement safety procedures for the FISD Transportation Department Objective 2: Plan, organize and manage all phases of the department to ensure that the work is accomplished in an efficient manner consistent with local, state and federal guidelines Objective 3: Analyze expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, or budgets for improving services

Communications Objective 1: Expand the modes and timeliness of communication to employees Objective 2: Broaden the content of communications to include all departments (Accountability and Learning, HR, Business, Technology, Professional Development, etc.) Objective 3: Create and manage an interactive communication for all staff (blogs, etc.) Community and Business Relations Objective 1: Expand the modes and timeliness of communications to the community and business Objective 2: Evaluate and develop marketing opportunities for businesses Objective 3: Evaluate and develop a Partners in Education program
