1 District #2358 Tri-County Schools World s Best Workforce Report Summary In accordance with 2013 Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.11, a school board, at a public meeting, shall adopt a comprehensive, long-term strategic plan to support and improve teaching and learning that is aligned with creating the world's best workforce. The school board must transmit an electronic summary of its annual report to the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education each fall. Data Used to Establish District Student Achievement Goals 2013 MMR Rating of 64.95% at Karlstad Elementary, which made us Celebration Eligible 2013 MMR rating of 75.84% at Tri-County Secondary 2013 TC District MCA Scores-Mathematics MN Scores All Students-64.0 % proficient 60.2% Free/Reduced Students-61.9% proficient 41.2% Special Education Students-33.3% proficient 31.9% 2013 TC District MCA Scores-Reading MN Scores All Students-64.6 % proficient 57.6% Free/Reduced Students-64.5 % proficient 38.8% Special Education Students-36.4% proficient 33.0% 2013 Tri-County District Proficiency Index Rates Proficiency Index Targets White Students Math Free/Reduced Students Math Special Ed Students Math White Students Reading Free/Reduced Students Reading Special Ed Students Reading
2 Attendance Rate Graduation Rate Tri-County District MN Tri-County District MN % 94.9% % 94.7% % 94.8% % 95.0% % 91.8% % 92.8% % 76.9% % 77.6% Based on State Assessment data, as well as Early Childhood Screening, STARS, EXPORE, PLAN, and ACT data, high school credit completion and graduation rates, we have identified the following needs increase proficiency in reading and mathematics at the elementary and secondary levels for all students, reduce the readiness and achievement gaps between White, identified Free/Reduced and Special Education, increase credit completion and graduation rates for high school student. Student Achievement Goals were established to address these needs.
3 Goal Areas Goal Area 1 All Students Ready for Kindergarten Student Achievement Goal: All students will be provided a high quality Early Childhood program/education. All students entering Kindergarten will meet their age appropriate color band as measured by Teaching Strategies assessments and Creative Curriculum assessments in the following areas: Physical Development The Arts Personal Development Language and Literacy Mathematical Thinking Early Star Literacy assessments are also used. Tri-County School Readiness Plan The Tri-County School Readiness Plan will be followed. The curriculum used will be Teaching Strategies and Creative Curriculum. Students were assessed 3 times during the year for pre-school skills with a battery of assessments from the Teaching Strategies and Creative Curriculum. All students met their age appropriate color band as measured by Teaching Strategies assessments and Creative Curriculum assessments. Students were also assessed with Early Star Literature tests. Parent-Teacher conferences were held Fall, Mid-Winter and Spring.
4 Goal Area 2 All Students in Third Grade Achieving Grade-Level Literacy Student Achievement Goal A: 75% of 3 rd grade students that demonstrate 85% or greater attendance during grades K-3 will meet proficiency as measured by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, and the Star Reading Report. Student Achievement Goal B: 80 % of K-2 students that demonstrate 85% or greater regular attendance during the school year will demonstrate growth in reading as measured by the Star Early Literacy Report and the Star Reading Report. District #2358 Tri-County School Local Literacy Plan Follow plan as outlined Can be found at Student Achievement Goal A: 77% ( 8 of 11) of 3 rd grade students that demonstrated 85% or greater attendance during grades K-3 met proficiency as measured by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, and 100% showed growth as measured by the Star Reading Report. Student Achievement Goal B: 98 % (41 of 42) of K-2 students that demonstrated 85% or greater regular attendance during the school year demonstrated growth in reading as measured by the Star Early Literacy Report and the Star Reading Report.
5 Goal Area 3 Closing Achievement Gap(s) Student Achievement Goal A: 2014 Proficiency Index Rates will exceed Proficiency Targets for White, Free/Reduced, and Special Education students in math and reading. Student Achievement Goal B: 2014 Index Proficiency Rates will improve over 2013 Proficiency Index Rates for White, Free/Reduced, and Special Education students in math and reading. Title I, Special Education Plans, IPAD Implementation Plan Title I services K-6 in reading and math, SPED services k-12 in reading and math, Study Table is provided for grades 7-12 four days a week after school, One on One IPAD implementation for students in grades 10-12, ipads implemented for supplemental reading and math in grades k-9, Paraprofessionals are present in math classes grades k-10 Student Achievement Goal A: 2014 Proficiency Index Rates exceeded Proficiency Targets for White, Free/Reduced, and Special Education students in math and reading. Student Achievement Goal B: 2014 Index Proficiency Rate Improvement White Students Math did improve Free/Reduced Students Math did improve Special Ed Students Math did improve White Students Reading did not improve Free/Reduced Students Reading did not improve Special Ed Students reading did not improve 2014 Tri-County District Proficiency Index Rates Proficiency Index Targets White Students Math Free/Reduced Students Math Special Ed Students Math White Students Reading Free/Reduced Students Reading Special Ed Students Reading MMR Rating of 66.12% at Karlstad Elementary, which made us Celebration Eligible 2014 MMR rating of 70.20% at Tri-County Secondary
6 Goal Area 4 All Students Career and College-Ready by Graduation Student Achievement Goal: All students will be provided a challenging, rigorous, and relevant curriculum that includes basic skills/knowledge, elective career exploration, and College in the High School opportunities. Tri-County High School Schedule, Tri-County Registration Manual, TRIO Program Strategy/Action Steps: All students are encouraged to register for challenging courses, which include College in High School courses and online courses. Explore Assessment, Careers Class, PLAN Assessment, and ASVAB are required of all students at Tri-County Schools. Student College and Career Readiness is measured by the ACT results of those students who take the ACT. Tri-County Public School District offers a variety of Concurrent Enrollment (College in the Schools) courses taught by teachers in the high school setting who have met the qualification requirements of the college. These courses are offered as dual-credit. In addition to concurrent enrollment courses, students in grades are allowed to enroll in Online College courses. Other Career Activities Students are required to complete Careers class in grade 10 Students attend Career Fairs Student/Parent meetings regarding College and Career Planning FAFSA meetings to offer assistance and preparation Student trips to local College Fairs College visits at the high school Career and College individual planning sessions with our guidance counselor During the school year, 14 students earned a total of 144 credits in College in the High School courses. 4 students earned 11 credits in Online College in the High School courses. Several 2014 graduates earned over 20 college credits through CIHS/Online. Ten of sixteen Class of 2014 Tri-County graduates enrolled in post-secondary classes in fall, 2014.
7 Goal Area 5 All Students Graduate from Tri-County High School Student Achievement Goal: 100% of students that begin in Tri-County Schools in Grade 9 will graduate prepared for career and college opportunities.
