Snow covered the countryside, and I enjoyed the crunching noise my boots made in it. We ate delicious croissants filled with jam. Then we took time to talk. I enjoyed listening to the adults conversation. They discussed the weather and how old times used to be. At 10:00 we left the house to walk to the church, which stood on top of a hill in the village. It took more than an hour to arrive there. Sometimes the light of the moon shining on the snow would make us almost forget that is was night time. Whole families joined us, and we were soon walking in a procession. Once we got into church, we took time to contemplate the birth of Jesus. The church service began at half past eleven. Songs and choirs followed one another. Christmas! It was beautiful and, for a young boy, unforgettable!
