5 Construction of Thermal Power Plants construction of Thermal Power Plants Based on Steam-Power and Gas-Steam Cycle By rough estimate, due to tremendous growth of the rate of global economic development, growth of population, and other geopolitical and economic factors, power consumption in the world will at least double by the middle of the XXI century. So far, power engineering, without any alternative, has been the major driving force behind the world progress. Despite major breakthroughs in the field of technical innovations, and rapid development of alternative power sources, traditional power engineering (power plants using the steampower and gas-steam cycles) is still the basis of the world energy supply. According to different sources, 39 % of all electric energy in the world is produced with oil, 27 % with coal, and 24 % with gas. Advantages of traditional thermal power plants are obvious long-term experience of construction engineering, relative tie-in to the fuel deposit locations compared to other types of power plants, and also absence of seasonal fluctuations in power production. Traditional power engineering has been developing progressively. And although a few decades ago preferences were given to the building of power plants using steam power cycle, now the intensive search for higher efficiency has given rise to the development of gas-steam technologies, and the increase in the number of newly commissioned CCGT plants. Experience of the gas-steam technologies use in power plants has demonstrated substantial growth of efficiency factor. A combination of the gas-turbine and steam-turbine plants in one power-generating unit made is possible to raise the efficiency of the use of fuel to 60 %, i.e. up to the level, which other thermal machines cannot attain. The use of the CCGT installations also made it possible to improve ecological characteristics of the TPPs, in particular, due to lower emission of nitrogen oxides. All these obvious advantages have brought about a situation, where almost 70 % of commissioned power plants today all over the world use the combined-cycle installations. 3

10 Technopromexport Power-Generating Units of 210, 215, 225 MW Considering the global process of buildup of generating capacities, company Technopromexport offers construction of the TPPs with power-generating units, capacity 210, 215 and 225 MW, having increased steam parameters. Implementation of such projects provides solution to two major closely interrelated problems: raising the power plant efficiency and reducing the harmful emissions of SO 2 and NO x into the atmosphere. Depending on the natural environment, the type of fuel, and the construction site specifics, Technopromexport offers different sets of equipment and types of configuration for the TPP of specified parameters. Depending on the type of fuel and the operating conditions, we manufacture and deliver to the facilities with high-pressure power-generating units, capacity of 210, 215 and 225 MW, one-drum-type steam generators with natural circulation, gas-tight, with steam reheating, to be installed in the boiler room of the TPP main building or on the open site under the tent. Together with the steam generator, the following boiler auxiliaries are delivered: smoke exhausters, forced-draught fans, smoke exhausters for recirculation of the smoke gases, and so forth. The steam turbines with turbine generator sets arranged either transversely or longitudinally are installed in the power house of the main building of the power plant. The turbine-generator set bay accommodates: the exhaust-steam feed heater, the oil system, the condensate and feed pumps, and other auxiliaries, which are providing operation of the turbine-generator set and the entire power-generating unit. Reliability is a characteristic feature of the turbine-generator sets of the TBB series with hydrogen and water cooling delivered with the generating units, capacity 210, 215 and 225 MW. They feature high efficiency, maneuverability, reliability, improved vibrating conditions, higher heat stability, they are convenient in maintenance and operation under various environmental conditions, and provide a possibility for operation in reactive power consumption modes. Turbines of this type feature high reliability, maintainability, and also high stability of technical and economic parameters, which makes it possible to have practically unchanging estimate of economic parameters throughout the power plant s life cycle. Each generator unit has a three-phase stepup transformer, capacity 250 MVA, type ТДЦ , installed in the unit. The house transformers are provided for auxiliary power supply. 14 Technopromexport Power-Generating Units of 300, 330, 350 MW When constructing thermal power plants (TPP) with power-generating units of 300, 330 or 350 MW company Technopromexport offers equipment for operation at supercritical parameters of steam: pressure 24 MPa and temperature С. For presented thermal power plants Technopromexport also offers different modifications of layout and configuration of basic power equipment. Technological structure of TPP with powergenerating units of 300, 330 or 350 MW has the most simplicity and the least cost of systems of main pipelines. Owing to optimal length and also minimum quantity of fittings and welded joints in system of pipelines there is achieved essential reduction of energy loss and significant growth of operational reliability of unit as a whole. Depending on kind of fuel and operating conditions the steam generators for power-generating units of supercritical pressure of power 300, 330 or 350 MW are supplied, as a rule, in oncethrough, gas-proof, with steam reheat, singlecasing modifications of Т- or П-shaped layout. Steam generators work on natural gas, fuel oil, coal and lignites. As a part of power-generating units of 300, 330 or 350 MW Technopromexport supplies turbogenerators of series ТВB with direct hydrogen cooling of rotor winding, water cooling of stator windings and thyristor static excitation system. Installed in the unit with each generator is three-phase double-winding transformer of power 400 MW of type ТДЦ /220 or ТДЦ /400. For power supply of auxiliaries of power plant provision is made for installation of package house transformers. The most widespread models for operation at supercritical parameters of steam are modernized modifications of turbine К (К and К ) three-cylinder, single-shaft, with steam reheat and nozzle governing. During operation of TPP there is an opportunity of controlling turbine power by method of sliding pressure, both for load variation mode, and for modes of starting-up and stoppage of power-generating unit. Duration of starting-up and stoppage of unit at sliding parameters is minimum, at that losses of heat and condensate are reduced. In regions with deficit or high temperature of cooling water provision is made for successively operated steam turbine of grade К , which is the modification of turbine К , specially designed for installation at such TPP. These turbines are operated at TPP, built by Technopromexport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, Greece, China and other countries. This model of turbine is characterized by high reliability and serviceability. At will of customer Technopromexport implements delivery of equipment and construction of TPP with power-generating units of unit capacity MW with sub-critical parameters of steam pressure MPa and temperature С. 12

16 Technopromexport Large Power-Generating Units, Capacity 500, 525, 660 and 800 MW Technopromexport offers construction of thermal power plants with large power-generating units of individual capacity of 500, 525, 660 and 800 MW. For the power plants with power-generating units of 500 and 525 MW, which use bituminous coal as the main fuel, Technopromexport delivers the units with the steam generator, type Пп , with supercritical pressure, direct-flow, gas-tight, balanced-draft, steam reheating, single-body, T-configuration, with regulation of flue gases and solid slag disposal. For the power plants designed for using brown coals, we offer a modified boiler. Boilers of this type have no own cradle and are suspended to the building structures by means of a special metal framework. The boilers are equipped with necessary fittings, devices for steam and water sample taking, instrumentation, and the state-of-the-art systems for suppression of harmful atmospheric emissions. The processes of feeding, steam temperature control and burning in the boiler are automated. Taking into account the world trends in boiler manufacturing, Russian manufacturers are continuously working on perfection of the boiler equipment. For instance, they widely use two-layer flat-stud tubes, hinged expansion loops, augmentation-type packing of regenerative air heaters and other improved equipment to raise reliability and increase useful life of the steam generators. The equipment is produced using highly mechanized and automated processes. Steam boilers are equipped with the state-of-the-art systems for suppression of harmful emissions. The machine bay of the 500 and 525 MW powergenerating units accommodates a steam turbine with a turbine-generator set. The steam turbine is a state-of-the-art upgrade of К the four-cylinder, one-shaft turbine with steam reheating. The turbine design provides for additional steam extraction for the power plant s own needs. The turbine is characterized by high reliability and is convenient in operation. The turbine-generator set includes the TBB 500 2Е turbine generator with direct hydrogen cooling of the rotor winding and water cooling of the stator windings, the generator has an independent thyristor excitation system. 18 Technopromexport For the power generating units of 660 MW, Technopromexport delivers boiler units Пп (ТПП-660) with supercritical pressure, direct-flow, gas-tight, steam reheating, single-body, T-configuration. Steam capacity of one boiler is 2225 tons of steam per hour at the outlet steam pressure is 24.8 MPa. The boilers are manufactured with special margin for strength and thickness of the pipes. The boiler is suspended to own cradle with the intermediate metal structures (center sills and inter-center sills). The service life is 50 years. The turbine-generator set includes the TBB-type turbine generator with direct hydrogen cooling of the rotor winding and water cooling of the stator windings, the generator has an independent thyristor excitation system. A three-phase transformer, capacity 630 MVA, type ТНЦ , can be delivered with each turbine-generator set. The house transformers are delivered to satisfy the power plant s own needs. For the 660 MW power-generating unit, Technopromexport offers to deliver four-cylinder steam turbines K with steam reheating and developed feed water regenerative heating system. Along with a number of competitive design solutions, for the first time in Russian practice, this turbine uses honeycomb seals, which, as a whole, allow us to attain one of the highest efficiency factors in the world. The machine bay accommodates the condensing steam turbine with a turbine generator. The condensing steam turbine, type K , (the latest modification of turbine K ), developed and manufactured by power machinebuilding concern Power Machines, is a fivecylinder, one-shaft turbine with steam reheating and six exhausts in two longitudinal condensers. The size of the power house bay is 54 х 72 m. The long experience of operation of similar turbines under variable load conditions has demonstrated their unique reliability and maneuverability. On the customer s order, additional uncontrolled steam extraction can be provided for the power 16

The power generating unit of 800 MW includes the TBB-800-2Е turbine generator with direct hydrogen cooling of the rotor winding and water cooling of the stator windings, and active power of 800 MW. 23 Construction of Thermal Power Plants TPP Mezhdunarodnaya, Russia The TPP Mezhdunarodnaya (phase II) is a power plant, where the Technopromexport specialists have included the most advanced solutions and developments of the power engineering industry in the design. Such power plant is an optimum solution for municipal power engineering in big cities because the area of power plant construction site complies with the most stringent requirements of the compact urban development. The area of the plot of land and that of the TPP buildings and structures is 1.88 ha and 1.61 ha respectively. It equals the area of a district thermal plant (DTР) for a large community area. An important factor is also a possibility to arrange the TPP facilities in close proximity to the consumers of thermal and electric energy, and for fitting the TPP in the new community areas. Ecological requirements to the plant operation meet the most stringent specifications applied in the world power engineering. The main building of the plant is characterized by compact arrangement of the main process and auxiliary equipment. Installed on the roof of the power house of the main building are the units of the dry-air cooling towers to remove excessive heat generated by the TPP gas-steam cycle, and also the units of the integral cooling systems for various plant equipment: oil systems of the GTP and the steam turbine. The dry-air blower-type cooling tower is equipped with controlled swiveling louver mechanism to automatically control the cooling air flow depending on the cooling water temperature. The plant uses frequency regulation of the electromechanical equipment, which helps to increase the service life of the equipment and to reduce consumption for own needs. The state-of-the-art water purification technologies using reverse osmosis (membrane technologies) help to achieve the required quality of water with the use of a compact-size TPP watertreatment system. The output power is 20 kv and 110 kv voltage. The 110 kv gas-insulated switchgear and control gear is an enclosed cubicle of the latest design, which practically requires no operational expenses. For the first time, the TPP Mezhdunarodhaya uses small-size monolithic three-phase bus ducts with polymer filling. The plant capital equipment has local monitoring and control systems combined in an integrated PCS. The high degree of automation of the process and electrical equipment helped to minimize handwork during the plant start-up and normal operation. The equipment monitoring and control is carried out by the power-generating unit operators from the main control panel using computer network. The period of the plant construction has been considerably reduced to 17 months instead of the scheduled 24 months. 25 Construction of Thermal Power Plants TPP Sisak-3, Croatia The new power-generating unit using gas-steam cycle, capacity 230 MW, currently under construction by Technopromexport will increase the plant electric capacity to 640 MW and additionally produce 50 Gcal/h of thermal energy. The steam-gas unit of the TPP Sisak-3 consists of the heat-recovery boiler, type ПР-230, produced by OJSC Podolsk machine-building factory, gas-turbine installation ГТЭ -160, produced by OJSC Power Machines, and the heating steam-turbine plant, type К-80/65 7.0, produced by OJSC Power Machines with matching generators. Ecological requirements to the plant operation comply with the most stringent specifications applicable in the European Union. The unit is designed for seismic intensity 8 on the MSK-64 scale. The power-generating unit cooling systems will use the direct-flow cooling system from the Sava river. The TPP is characterized by compactness of arrangement of the key process and auxiliary equipment. Design of the main building provides for accommodating the hardware and software complex, the unit control room, the engineering stations and the offices. The power-generating unit will use the most advanced distributed control system, local monitoring and control systems of the main equipment of the plant are designed and delivered by OJSC Interautomatics. The operator in charge of monitoring and controlling the equipment will receive complete information of the process, condition of the equipment, and the monitoring and control systems in the most convenient format. 27 Construction of Thermal Power Plants Power-Generating Unit CCGT 400 MW of Nizhnevartovsk State District Power Plant, Russia Power unit CCGT-400 MW of the Nizhnevartovsk power plant, currently under construction by Technopromexport, is a binary gas-steam installation with three steam generation circuits designed for production of electric power. The main and standby fuel of the power-generating unit is pretreated associated petroleum gas from deposits of the TNK-BP company one of the construction owners. The CCGT main equipment includes multipleshaft power installation 109FA, produced by General Electric with gas turbine PG9351FA and steam turbine 109D12 installed on different shafts and connected to their own generators, and also heat-recovery boiler П-143 produced by JSC EC ZIOMAR. The power-generating unit will use the most advanced distributed control system based on Siemens equipment, local monitoring and control systems of the main equipment of the plant are designed and delivered by OJSC Interautomatics. Ecological parameters of the installation will comply with the requirements of Federal Law 7-FL On Preservation of Environment dated January 10, The power will be delivered into the electric power system through the ОРУ-500 kv available at the state district power plant. For connection to ОРУ-500 kv, an outpost with the 500-kV gasinsulated gear will be built. The design provides for connecting the powergenerating unit to the existing direct-flow water system of the Nizhnevartovsk state district power plant from the Vakh river. 29 Construction of Thermal Power Plants Power-Generating Unit CCGT 450 MW Yuzhnaya CHP-22, Russia Expansion of Yuzhnaya CHP-22 using gassteam combined cycle was carried out with a view of providing electric and thermal power to the industrial and communal facilities of St. Petersburg by building CCGT- 450 MW. When developing the project Feasibility Report, specialists of Technopromexport have made provisions for further expansion of Yuzhnaya CHP-22. The new power-generating unit was erected in the heat generation plant territory as a separate building connected by process lines with the existing facilities. The new power-generating operates in the basic roundthe-clock mode and with the maximum possible number of hours of use of electric and thermal energy according to the loading schedule. To effectively use the limited territory of the construction site of a new gas-steam powergenerating unit, use was made of vertically configured heat-recovery boilers. This helped to significantly reduce the construction site area. The use of forced circulation in the HP and LP circuits of the vertical heat-recovery boiler increased its reliability in low-load operation and in starting conditions. The main equipment of unit 4 of CCGT-450 of Yuzhnaya CHP-22 included: two gas-turbine installations, type ГТЭ-160, produced by OJSC Power Machines (LMZ), two heat-recovery boilers for two pressure ratings produced by OJSC Podolsk machine-building factory, and one steam-turbine plant of the heating type with adjustable steam extraction for heating produced by OJSC Power Machines. The equipment has been tested at the main power-generating unit CCGT-450 installed at the North-West CHP in St. Petersburg, and also at other similar facilities Kaliningradskaya CHP-2, and CHP-21 and CHP -27 in Moscow.
