1 For Immediate Release The 2 nd Hong Kong Public Relations Awards 2014 Now Calling For Entry (Hong Kong, February ) The Hong Kong Public Relations Awards 2014 (HK PR Awards 2014) was formally launched on 13 February, The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. John Chan, Chairperson of the Organising Committee; Professor Paul S N Lee, Vice Chairperson of the Organising Committee and Chief Judge of the Judge Panel, Ms. Grace Lam and Ms. Maria Cheung, Vice Chairperson of the Organising Committee, Dr. Linda Tsui, Secretary-General and Ms. Eppie Tam, Deputy Secretary-General. Organised by the Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals Association (PRPA), the awards aim to give due recognition to organisations, teams and individual public relations practitioners who have planned and executed excellent and highly effective public relations campaigns that have contributed to the success of the organisations that they serve. Firstly launched in 2010, the HK PR Awards recognise excellent PR campaigns and PR professionals of outstanding performances. This year, awards will be granted on PR Campaign and Individual Award basis. Individual Awards will continue to be granted for the Distinguished Professional of the Year and the Young Professional of the Year. Campaign Awards to be consolidated in to the following categories: Reputation Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Stakeholder Communications, Integrated Marketing Communications, Event Management and New Media Communications. For each category, one GOLD award and two SILVER awards will be presented. A Grand Award of Excellence will be presented to the overall winner among the GOLD award winners. Judging Panel for this year s awards is leaded by Prof Paul S N Lee, Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong s School of Journalism and Communication. It comprises of 15 professionals coming from the commercial, PR, media and the academy fields. Dr. John Chan, Chairperson of the 2nd HK PR Awards 2014, said that the industry has seen rising expectations of the public and the respective stakeholders of business corporations, government and non-government organisations on the transparency and social responsibilities of these different entities. The rapid technological evolution of the various new media platforms including social, online and mobile media has also necessitated a high degree of creativity in the application of these communication channels by public relations practitioners. Essentially, the public relations industry must continuously uphold and enhance its professional standards to embrace new challenges and opportunities. Since its establishment in 1995, the PRPA has been dedicating to promote the PR professions and stage conferences and forums for exchanging ideas and expertise to further the industry s quest for excellence.
