1 Rawdon Investments Limited & Aldi Stores Limited Former Barkers Nursery, Clitheroe Servicing Management Plan Technical Note No. 6 Project: Former Barkers Nursery, Clitheroe Planning Application 3/2014/0890 Title: Servicing Management Plan Date: 23 July Aldi Site Specific Operational Requirements 1.1 The site layout is illustrated in the Damson drawing P103 Rev J, included in Appendix A. Drawing /ATR-03 attached in Appendix B to this report illustrates the swept path of an Aldi 16.5 metre refrigerated articulated vehicle accessing and egressing the proposed site. 1.2 The store manager will have an allotted time each day by which the main delivery will have taken place. The driver will be furnished with a mobile phone and is able to inform the distribution centre if any delay is likely. However, this is very rare and allocated delivery times are consistently met by the distribution teams. 1.3 Delivery practices are identical at each store. oods delivery is a one-man function carried out by the driver. The vehicle is reversed down the delivery ramp to the loading bay which is fitted with a dock leveller to provide a flush ramp from the floor of the lorry to the floor of the storage area. 1.4 The driver gains access to the building by means of a driver s door located next to the loading bay. The driver opens the roller shutter door from within the building then unloads the foods directly into the storage area. The driver is then responsible for locking the shutter and the side door before leaving. Contact with the store manager is only required where site-specific special arrangements dictate. 1.5 There are no site entrance barriers to be installed at the site; therefore there is no requirement to fit service vehicles with transponders. 1.6 Operational characteristics of the store can be summarised as follows: 131/TN6 1

2 Rawdon Investments Limited & Aldi Stores Limited Former Barkers Nursery, Clitheroe Servicing Management Plan There will normally be up to four Aldi Articulated HV deliveries per day; Servicing and deliveries to and from Aldi shall not take place other than between the hours of 07:00-21:00 Monday to Friday; 07:30-21:00 Saturdays and 09:30-17:00 on Sundays and Bank Holidays. The daily HV delivery arrival journeys will normally take place outside peak highway network hours; The standard delivery period is ½ hour to 1 hour; and Vehicular access to the service yard will be through the car park. In addition, all manoeuvring will be supervised and assisted as necessary by the store manager. 1.7 It should be noted that over recent years Aldi s service vehicles have benefited from operational safety improvements including: Rear Cameras; Audible Warning Systems; and Reversing Object Sensors. 2.0 Pets at Home Site Specific Operational Requirements 2.1 The site layout is illustrated in the Damson drawing P103 Rev J, included in Appendix A.
