CONFIRMED AND PLANNED PRESENTATIONS TUESDAY, 16 FEBRUARY through THURSDAY, 18 FEBRUARY 2016 António Garcia, Banco de Portugal will be presenting on the PORTUGUESE CASH CYCLE RECENT DEVELOPMENT AND FUTURE TRENDS/CHALLENGES Over the last few years, CIT companies have gained more and more relevance in the cash business. In Portugal, they essentially took over the cash management function from Commercial Banks and major retailers. To cope with that reality, the Banco de Portugal soon realised that they had to establish a good regulatory environment. Thus, monitoring recirculation activities of 3rd parties and training their professional cash handlers, as well as a close and open dialogue with the key players in the cash cycle (mainly CIT companies and Commercial Banks), became essential to the Banco de Portugal s Issue and Treasury Department. One of the main challenges for the future is to ensure the continued provision of good quality services on cash at the least cost for society. Alternative models for efficient functioning of our cash cycle (including NHTO) should be evaluated, involving all relevant economic agents, and an approach considering all payment instruments should open the way towards this objective. Maria da Conceição RomãoTeixeira Carrapeta, Grupo Jerónimo Martins will be presenting their experience with CASH IN THE RETAIL INDUSTRY How companies in the retail industry are adapting to answer the difficult equation of maximizing the client s experience by broadening the payment options available, and at the same time ensuring that the costs and complexity do not increase. I certainly enjoyed the end-to-end experience of the seminar and recommend attendance to my colleagues in the industry. -Bank of Ireland

Excellent international platform for sharing cash cycle industry solutions! -ORFIX INTERNATIONAL Maria Da Glória Fonseca Carriço Morão Lopes, ESEGUR will present about THE ROLE OF CMC/CIT COMPANIES IN THE INNOVATION & OPTIMIZATION OF THE CASH CYCLE This presentation will focus on how CMC/CIT companies contribute significantly to optimizing the cash cycle through logistics and adequate operational processes both in transport and in cash centers. The systematic search for the best solutions in terms of equipment and software based on the best management practices allow CMC/CIT companies to offer innovative and cost-effective solutions to the market. The success of CMC/CIT companies activities also depends on customer monitoring and the ability to understand their businesses and needs. Leonor Machado, Caixa Geral de Depositos and EPC s Cash Efficiency Working Group Chair will be leading a PANEL DISCUSSION ON CURRENCY RECIRCULATION Customer transactions and volumes. In short these are the only two key variables which justify currency recirculation expenditures. To nobody s surprise, the motivation continues to be focused on cost savings. Effective cash recirculation carries along with it the increasing benefits of focusing on the cash cycle supply chain by means of reducing the amount of times currency is transported / counted by the stakeholders in any given market. Some market s regulatory authorities have encouraged this with legislation while others have simply allowed the markets to define how best to get on with their business, establishing instead regulation and compliance frameworks describing the manner in which their recirculation devices may pay out currency back into circulation. But does one model suit all and what other variables are placing limitations on these frameworks? There is equally a general understanding that cash recirculation only applies to professionals but can this go the major step forward and also involve normal citizens and small retailers? The panel discussion will attempt to respond to these and other issues and involve different stakeholders point of view so that the discussion may have a balanced view from the marketplace.

Benedita Maria Guimino, Banco de Moçambique will present about a case study on THE IMPACT OF LOW DENOMINATION BANKNOTES AND COIN IN MONETARY CIRCULATION IN MOZAMBIQUE Cash management is one of the main responsibilities of the Banco de Moçambique, and it aims to ensure the efficient supply of good quality Metical banknotes and coins to the economy. Banco de Moçambique analyzed the impact of the low denomination banknotes and coins in circulation in Mozambique and the strategies that the Bank has been using in spreading the circulation of these denominations in the economy through different financial educational programs. The aim of these activities was to encourage the usage and circulation of low denominations of banknotes and coins for low-value transactions. Due to the velocity of rotation of the low denomination banknotes, the paper substrate banknotes were susceptible to high levels of degradation. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of these banknotes, in 2011 the Banco de Moçambique introduced banknotes on polymer substrate, and the analysis made so far in the life cycle of these denominations shows that it has increased significantly. However, despite of the increase in circulation of the low denomination banknotes and coins, the Banco de Moçambique is still facing challenges and continues to encourage commercial banks to provide these denominations due to shortfalls in meeting demand. Alain Gerbier, Banque de France will be presenting STRATEGY ON THE NEW CASH CENTER OUTLOOK The New Cash Centers project is part of a national plan led by Banque de France. For 2020 the cash centers network will be downsized from 71 to 38 centers. Two highly automated cash centers will be built in the North of France (delivery at the end of 2015) and Ile de France (delivery at the beginning of 2018). The objectives of the cash centers are: Improving working conditions; Improving the quality of the services delivered to our customers; Enhancing security in terms of values, customers, and staff members; and Improving operational performance.

Manuel Mourato, Laboratório de Polícia Científica da Polícia Judiciária will present A SUBSTRATE VIEW BY A FORENSIC EXPERT FROM THE PORTUGUESE JUDICIARY POLICE: POLYMER, HYBRIDS AND PAPER When the Reserve Bank of Australia issued the first banknote made of polymeric material in 1988, one would never suspect that, in a conservative and risk-averse environment, as is the case of Central Banks and Issuing Authorities, the polymeric substrate would conquer the position it holds nowadays. Many things happened in the industry since then and more recently we have observed the arising of new substrates for banknotes, the so called hybrid substrates. There are however some misinterpretations about these types of substrates and this presentation aims to take an overview about the alternative substrates for printing banknotes: Polymer and the various types of hybrid substrates. What is the potential growth for these types of substrates in the banknote production market and how will they contribute to prevent banknote counterfeiting? From this perspective, what are the new challenges for forensic analysis? Some examples of these substrates and their comparative analysis including some of the security features in use will be offered. I enjoyed the friendly international atmosphere, which made it easy to get in touch with other participants. -Deutsche Bundesbank Arkadiusz Manikowski and Joanna Kołodziej, National Bank of Poland (Narodowy Bank Polski) will present THE PRESENT STATE AND MEDIUM TERM OUTLOOK OF THE CASH CYCLE MODEL IN POLAND According to the guidelines of the European Payment Council, the Centralized Cash Cycle Model has been implemented in Poland whereby the Central Bank plays a crucial role in the cash circulation process. The last actions undertaken by the National Bank of Poland (Narodowy Bank Polski) tend to streamline and simplify the regulations referring to the cash cycle. The presentation will give information about the organizational structure and legal environment regarding the cash market in Poland and the main trends within it. The presentation will also focus on the most important projects and initiatives by Narodowy Bank Polski concerning the cash market and meeting the challenges for the future. The introduction of these strategies would enable achievement of an efficient cash cycle and as a result also reduce the overall cost of cash for the economy. The strategic actions will be also presented with a description of the predicted consequences of their implementation. Additionally, discussion of the usefulness of various indicators in identifying the Cash Cycle Model will be described.

José Azevedo, SIBS will be discussing SIBS CASH MANAGEMENT SERVICE SIBS presents the Cash Management service model developed to address cost reduction and increase cash availability in ATM and Branches. The model provides an optimal balance between all the operational parameters enhancing the economical return of each cash point. The service provided relies upon the crossed analysis from the whole of variables and business indicators in order to reduce operational costs and/or increase money availability in cash points and, at the same time, reducing internal resources assigned to cash management function. Oliver Pannke, Giesecke & Devrient will advise how to RAISE YOUR EXPECTATIONS IN THE CONNECTED CASH CENTER Don t accept less in business than at home. Today s cash processing goes far beyond stand-alone, off-line banknote counting systems. Instead it requires connected systems meeting the IT-network, security, and communication protocol requirements of the modern IT-infrastructure they are embedded in. On top of this, software solutions are integrated into a bank s or a cash center s business processes. An ecosystem of related banknote processing, data management, and IT-security applications will support this integration and ensure cost efficient, future-proof cash management. Crane Currency will present about ENGINEERING TRUST INTO THE BANKNOTE The Cash Cycle begins with the confidence we place in cash as a physical payment medium. Crane Currency, as a global supplier of banknotes and banknote papers, will present on its role in producing some of the world s most trusted currencies, among these the US dollar. Crane will provide a perspective on the contributions of material science, security technologies, and design that combine to create the highly engineered products that we know as banknotes. The presentation will touch on how banknotes designed with the goal of inspiring confidence perform in an increasingly automated world. I found ICCOS very interesting and a useful networking opportunity - the presentations were concise and well delivered. -VAULTEX UK LTD.

Zaba Bank will be presenting THE ZAGREBACKA BANKA CASE STUDY ON CASH HANDLING AUTOMATIZATION AND FORECASTING NEEDS IN CROATIA This presentation focuses on the reduction of cash handling and cash in transport costs in Croatia since ZABA Bank was facing many challenges due to a lack of cash centres, lack of client service, and education, as well as the prevailing mindset of the population, which included a resistance to change. The Bank adopted practices and cash handling solutions that resulted in increased efficiency in the processing of much higher volumes of cash. Commercial Bank (TBC) will advise about how to INCREASE PROCESS EFFICIENCY AND COST OPTIMIZATION WITH CASH RECYCLING The true cost of cash management goes well beyond simply investing in boxes. The hidden costs managing cash are significant, not to mention security. Any time a human being touches cash there is a built-in level of inefficiency along with the potential for loss. The real answer lies in end-to-end optimization of cash processes. Retailer (TBC) will present will present about the OPTIMIZATION OF CASH CYCLE PROCESSES IN RETAIL Cash is still and will also be in future an essential aspect of retailing throughout the world, but cash handling is labor and cost intensive, with security risks within the process. This presentation will be about how to future proof retail business processes and make cash work for retailers. Prosegur Portugal will also be presenting during the seminar on EFFICIENCIES IN LOGISTICS AND CASH MANAGEMENT. Make sure to join us in Lisbon to learn more about this subject and learn from all the presentations above.

SPONSOR BREAKOUT MEETINGS TUESDAY, 16 FEBRUARY through WEDNESDAY, 17 FEBRUARY 2016 Cash Management Software: Partnership Makes the Difference by Giesecke & Devrient Cash management software has a big impact: It is the key to paperless, secure and efficient cash operations. On the other hand it requires changes in processes, organizations and habits. Modularity and scalability make the first steps easier and at the same time give you a clear perspective for the full software integration of your cash center. Cash management software projects need much more than software experience. Essential is the know how in cash center processes to design the right approach. Having the right partner who brings in all skills makes the difference. The Path To One-Touch-Handling Of Cash: Smart Automation And Standardization by Giesecke & Devrient The standardized container revolutionized the shipping and logistics industry in the middle of the 20th century. Is our industry ready for revolution? A standardized banknote tray, designed for logistics and automation can develop a similar impact in the cash world. Integrating the standardized banknote tray into advanced automation solutions is paving the way to one-touch-handling of cash. Our breakout session will provide a case study how partners in the cash cycle developed a winwin strategy for secure, efficient and future leading cash handling and rolled out a field-test.

[CLOSED TO COMPETITORS] As Countries Introduce Clean Note Standards - How Can They Manage the Quality of Currency in Circulation to Meet National Targets by Innovia Systems As Central Banks and their commercial partners increasingly look to outsource note processing, how do they maintain the control over the quality of notes and also ensure the authenticity of notes in the cash cycle? Innovia Systems has developed a range of solutions that enable organizations involved in note processing or policy enforcement to assess the authenticity of notes and also establish the quality of notes in a consistent manner.

With the Increased Take Up of New Substrates for Banknotes Globally, How Can Countries Optimise the Security and Quality of Their Notes in Circulation? by Innovia Systems The introduction of new substrates and security features means that many traditional detection devices are not able to offer a state of the art security capability. To address this Innovia Systems has developed a range of detection devices for central banks, commercial processors, and retailers that are able to quickly and easily identify genuine notes and thus reduce the impact of counterfeiting at all points in the cash cycle. ATM COST OPTIMIZATION HOW IT REALLY WORKS by Sautner & Partner Total cash related costs for ATMs including preparation, transport, replenishment and counting range, according to studies, between and EUR per cash machine per year in the European Union. Implementation of a successful and efficient ATM cash management system requires not only the implementation of a forecasting and cost optimization software but also the optimization of the organisational environment like contracts with customers and logistic partners, service level agreements, transports, and administration efficiency. Together, benefits from all these potentials together may result in operational cost savings of more than 30% or EUR per cash machine and year. Based on the experience with CashPilotATM over 10 years for more than 20 commercial banks, Sautner & Partner will give an overview of major costs and discuss potentials and measures in order to reduce them. [CLOSED TO COMPETITORS] Retail Cash Precrediting - CIT and Banking Perspectives by Spinnaker International Ltd. 14 PRE-SEMINAR WORKSHOP Monday, February 15, :30pm - 5:00pm 310 Per Delegate to Attend Space is Limited Workshop not included in your Cash Cycle Seminar registration fee. Please ensure this is added during your registration process if interested in attending. Using practical case studies and interactive methodology, the objective of this workshop is to create a deeper understanding by exploring the differing methods of adapting the cash processing workflow to meet cash centre requirements. Workshop Background Now more than ever the cash industry needs to maintain its competitive edge against the onslaught of e-payment instruments. While cash usage globally continues to increase, the growth rate has slowed down significantly and therefore efficiencies must continue to be implemented to ensure lowest cost in operational processes. In these attempts to further reduce costs in cash management and logistics operations, Cash Center Processes and market variables must be thoroughly understood. Workshop Objectives Understand the equipment and software solutions that exist for the bulk cash processing environment. Evaluate if the processes in your cash centres/cash vaults are truly optimized and utilization is maximized, and if appropriate contingency measures are in place. Compare data that is readily available with which you may evaluate the efficiencies of your cash operations. Determine if there is room for further efficiency within your cash operations by improving control, reducing your costs, and leveraging your staff. Consider core activities of the business unit and if outsourcing could be an alternative, along with other key factors for consideration. The workshop will explore the processes that are currently in place to address the changing needs of customers and market conditions/variables that affect these directly. Engagement from the participants will be encouraged, particularly their input on what is considered Best Practice in their operation. Finally, the different elements within the workflow processes will be broken down into separate segments. Who Should Participate Central Banks, Commercial Banks, and Cash Management Companies (includes CiTs). Any player with cash management, handling, and logistics responsibility. Participants at the workshop need not be necessarily involved in their organization s cash operations, but should take away some ideas that will benefit their organization. Please register for the workshop during your Seminar registration.
