2 V&A Innovative Management and Leadership We believe that the Arts, Cultural and Heritage Sector demands its own leadership development programme one that recognises es and builds upon the passion, expertise and experience of its participants. The V&A Innovative Management and Leadership is a year long Masters Accredited programme which creates the best possible learning environment in order to: - stimulate creativity - encourage experimentation through the application of new learning to your work, and - nurture your own innovative practice. You will gain a broad network of professional colleagues across and beyond the sector,, whilst working in this unique supportive setting etting. The programme gives you the tools and confidence to take the next step in your career. 3 What We Provide A coherent set of inter-related theoretical strands which you will learn to use to reflect on your own perceptions of management, your own relation to colleagues and staff, and your evolving practice as managers and leaders in the cultural, heritage and arts sector A rigorous process of self-development based on the principles of action learning A network of colleagues with whom you will have shared significant moments of your development, with the potential for future collaboration, and a growing alumni network, with shared interest in creativity and innovation in management, cultural heritage and the arts. 4 WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT A year long programme of ten 1 or 2 day sessions, consisting of: Pre- reading Subject learning through theory, group discussion, inquiry and reflection Guest Speakers Action Learning between each session Coaching and Mentoring As part of the programme, participants can choose to have a coach or mentor from within the Cultural Heritage sector or beyond. The V&A will help identify a suitable coach or mentor, broker the partnership and provide tools and resources to support the relationship. Virtual Ashridge Ashridge is one of the world's leading business schools and delivers executive education and development to individuals and organisations. The Virtual Ashridge platform combines Ashridge s expertise in management and organisational development with the power of Information technology to deliver learning material to the desktop. This supports your personal development during and after the programme.. Case Study Consulting Projects Most sessions include a practical project. This is a case study of real work for the participants. It provides an opportunity for partner organisations to commission a piece of consultancy from the Innovative participant cohort.

5 FACULTY James Wilson MSc, BA (Hons), FRSA Training & Development Consultant, V&A James is a people and organisation consultant with over 25 years experience in the arts and public sectors working as a manager and as an educationalist. He joined the V&A in July 2000 where he has specialised in organisation development through staff engagement, management and leadership development. He has written articles for HM Treasury, Ashridge Business School, Strategic HR Review and the CIPD. He regularly works as an external consultant in the cultural and public sector and is much sought after as a coach. He successfully gained Masters Accreditation for the V&A Innovative Management & Leadership Programme in He himself holds a Masters in Organisation Consulting from Ashridge Business School, and is a QCF Assessor for Management, Training and Development and Live Events. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Francine Winch MA FCIPD FRSA Francine Winch is the Principal of CreativeHR. She is an experienced management trainer, practitioner, consultant, and lecturer in Human Resources Development and Management. She is also an Assessor, Advisor, and Internal Verifier for NVQs 3, 4 & 5 in Training and Development, Personnel and Management. She has been involved in the designing, delivery and assessment of a variety of management development interventions during her career, in addition to creating and achieving validation for a number of post-graduate Management courses including Certificate, Diploma and Masters qualifications. She has also served on a variety of committees and working parties. Currently working with clients from the financial, voluntary and public sector, as well as with post-graduate students, she offers a wealth of experience as well as sound underpinning academic knowledge to ensure that the Innovative Managers course fulfils the requirements of the CIPD should delegates wish to obtain Levels 4 & 5 diplomas in Management. Visiting Faculty John Higgins John is a researcher, author and coach. He works intimately with established and aspiring leaders from all walks of life encouraging them to find ways of marrying their personal and professional contexts. He has been a Research Associate of Ashridge since Prior to then he was a Business Director working with clients such as The Body Shop, Beiersdorf, Watson Wyatt and the NHS, exploring new ways of making a difference to people and organisations. He also created two open programmes, one focused on power and communication in organisations and the other on leading strategy and change. Before Ashridge he travelled the globe working for traditional management consultancies including Nolan, Norton & Co and AT Kearney.

6 Nik Joshi Nik has 30 years' experience with the UK government, the petrochemical industry and the insurance industry as an economist, marketing director and management consultant. After several years working as an economist with the Department of Employment, Nik joined the petrochemical industry as Marketing Manager before becoming a management consultant in He has undertaken projects in the financial services sector in the EMEA, working for business enterprises, regulatory authorities and governments. Steve Chapman Steve is a researcher, writer, consultant and public speaker. He s fascinated how organisations really work as opposed to how they are supposed to work and he believes that, at their core, they are simply a group of human beings engaged in a rather complex and chaotic process of relating. His mission is to lift the curtain on organisational life and to help others realise that they are simply taking part in one big corporate improvisation experience. Steve has worked in industry for over 20 years on both sides of the fence as a Senior Leadership and Organisation Development Director for a large multi-national blue-chip and as an independent/associate consultant working in pharmaceuticals, telecoms, FMCG, financial services, retail, airlines, water companies, arts and culture, retail as well as in the third sector. Henry Stewart Henry is a business leader and speaker. He has been voted one of the top 50 management gurus in the world. He runs the training company Happy Ltd. Happy Computers makes learning about IT an enjoyable process. Happy People works with organisations to create great places in which to work. Set up in his back room in Hackney in 1990, Happy has grown and received widespread recognition. It has been rated by Management Today as the best company for customer service in the UK and, for the last five years, has been listed in the UK s Best Workplaces. Henry is a regular speaker at business conferences and was recently featured on BBC Radio 4 s Four Thought.

Developing & Empowering Your Staff 1 day 9 December, From Management to Leadership 1 day 20 January, Managing in Times of Change 1 day 25 February, 2015 Attendance on the one year programme of 11 workshops: 2,500 2, VAT Qualifications: Full participation on the programme will gain the participant 60 Level 6 learning credits which are equivalent to one third of a Masters Degree. Candidates can choose to build an evidence portfolio, during the programme, to achieve a Level 5 QCF Diploma in Management. The cost of this award (including registration, assessment and certificate) is 2,875 + VAT. This qualification is equivalent to a further 60 learning credits and can be added to the 60 gained from full participation on the programme. A full Masters from Middlesex University is 180 credits. Participants wishing to complete a full Masters can choose to take a work based research project with The Institute of Work Based Learning to gain the final 60 credits to complete their qualification.
