22 VINYL INSULATED CONNECTORS Polycarbonate (Makrolon) Insulated Crimp Cable Connectors The inner part of the cable lug is made from high-quality electrolytic copper and electroplated with tin then soldered in the sleeve. The dimensions comply with DIN Standards. Halogen-free, self-extinguishing polycarbonate (makrolon) is used as insulating material which has a superior heat resistant rating of up to 248 F. In contrast, PVC is heat rated to 167 F and both polyvinyl chloride and nylon are heat rated to 221 F. Excellent resistance properties against alcohols, mineral acids, gasoline, greases and oils. Excellent non-deformability properties - does not crack or create white stress points at crimp folds. Brazed seams fold & compress on the wire creating a secure reliable crimp that holds. Less quality butted seams can fly apart and crack reducing the effective hold of the crimp. Reinforced neck opening creates a stronger transition section at the neck, strengthening a notorious weak point. Covered, fluted entry sleeve protects exposed wire with a metal flute and an extension of the heavy vinyl insulation from debris and contaminants that cause corrosion. 52 DEUTSCH CONNECTORS OVERVIEW Deutsch Connectors are environmentally-sealed transportation connectors that can be found in motorcycles, automobiles, trucks, tractors, and heavy-duty and industrial equipment. The line is made up of Receptacles and Plugs, with corresponding Locking Wedges for each (making up the Deutsch Connector housings), as well as Pins and Sockets (which come in Solid and Stamped varieties and are inserted into the housings to complete the assembly of the connector).
