CONTENTS Introduction K.A.CARE Strategy KACARE Initiatives SMRs for Saudi Arabia SMART Development & Partnership

Why SMART for KSA? Bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement signed between governments of Saudi Arabia and Republic Of Korea. (HE. Mr. Sung Hwan Kim, Minister of Foreign Affairs) & ( HE. Dr. Hashem Yamani), Nov 2011 First licensed integral PWR-type SMR Fully Korean origin technology Most advanced for deployment. SMR Workshop conclusion (2014) 2014 JFS offered Joint Partnership Pre-Project Eng. with full IP sharing 2-unit FOAK plants construction Joint Partnership signed with Korea MOU, PPE Agreement Mar./Sep. 2015

MOU K.A.CARE & KAERI Dec 2013 K.A.CARE and KAERI signed MOU in December 2013, to cooperate in the following fields: National Nuclear Lab (NNL) Establishment SMART Partnership & Development Human Capacity Development on related issues between both parties

SMART JFS The scope is To conduct first a joint feasibility study for SMART deployment in Saudi Arabia within a short period. It will include electricity and fresh water demand analysis, site selection and environmental impact assessment, economic analysis. ICI Nozzles Control Rod Drive Mechanism Pressurizer Reactor Coolant Pump To develop a business plan and explore strategy to establish a joint venture company, etc. The outcome is A JFS Report and Assessment; and recommendations for follow-up action. Steam Generator Upper Guide Structure Core Support Barrel Flow Mixing Header Ass y Core Steam Nozzle Feedwater Nozzle To obtain partnership approach for SMART technology.

JFS Report Content Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Introduction Electricity and Water Systems Analysis Proposed Site Characteristics Technical and Safety Aspects Economic and Financing Aspects Strategic Issues Business Model Development Conclusion and Recommendations

SMART Reactor Plant Data Power : 330 MWt Water : 40,000 t/day Electricity: 90 MWe Electricity and Fresh Water Supply for a City of 100,000 Population Suitable for Small Grid Size or Localized Power System

SMART Reactor SMART has advantages over LRs 1) High safety standards 2) Passive safety systems 3) Simplification of systems 4) Smaller initial capital cost requirements 5) Lessened grid integration requirement 6) Flexibility in site selection (i.e., inland) 7) Relatively easier localization Valuable oil savings by replacing oil-fired thermal plant. Total oil savings from the operation of two 100 MWe class SMART plants will amount to ~3M bbl. every year. FOAK plant: 20% increase in NOAK plant unit capital cost Multiple units (>4 unit): 30% decrease in single FOAK plant. Financial option study shows SMART is worth to invest through CAPEX and LCOE
