2 2013: A Year of Teamwork Our Mission: Girls on the Run changed my life forever. Girls on the Run helped me to be active, get stronger, and make a lot of new friends. I started Girls on the Run in 2012, so this was my second year. Before I came to Girls on the Run, I was very lazy and I didn t like to do anything that involved running. I also ate a lot of junk food, like candy and soda. Girls on the Run inspired me to eat more healthy foods such as fruits and water. Julia, 5th Grader at Pine Shadows Elementary We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. From Mary T Callahan, GOTRGH Executive Director: Julia s words are just a taste of what the GOTR Greater Houston Team has accomplished in I say Team because what Julia experienced in her 12 weeks of Girls on the Run would not have been possible without the efforts of a considerable number of people from all over the Houston area to bring the program to Pine Shadows as well as all of our other sites. Our Team of passionate, sponsors, coaches, volunteers, parents, families, board and staff made it possible for Girls on the Run Greater Houston to serve a record number of girls in 2013: 910 girls participated on 64 teams at 49 sites throughout the Houston area! That s an increase of approximately 300 girls more than participated in 2012, and an additional 13 sites.

3 Super Sponsors We could not have achieved the growth we experienced in 2013 without the generous support of our amazing sponsors. Francesca s Collection, our largest sponsor, not only gives to Girls on the Run Greater Houston financially, but also stepped up to manage the Spring 2013 GOTRGH 5K race including all aspects of the race - from sponsorships to race day management. They did a fantastic job - it was a day of fun, pride, accomplishment, and teamwork, for all who participated. Also, as part of their sponsorship, Francesca s adopts a GOTRGH site each season. In addition to financially supporting the site, Francesca s employees from their corporate headquarters attend all 24 sessions, as well as the race, to encourage the girls in their running and in their lives. The coaches shared that having the Francesca s team at their sites has encouraged the girls to see that if they have a love for math, they can dream to be an accountant, or if they have a love for construction, they can dream to be a construction manager, or if they love fashion, they can dream to be a fashion designer. And their dreams REALLY can come true! These ideas come to them as they run and chat with the Francesca s team. Francesca s is truly planting the seeds of the future with our GOTRGH girls!

4 Super Sponsors - continued One of the biggest expenses for the program continues to be the shoes we provide to our scholarship girls. With the generous help of two sponsors, Fleet Feet and Academy Sports & Outdoors, not only were we able provide appropriate footwear to 694 girls (which represents 76% of total program participants) who were from Title I schools, we were also able to save thousands of dollars thanks to the discounts and sponsorship contributions given to GOTRGH. Fleet Feet has been so kind to Girls on the Run Greater Houston over the last 10 years, and we truly would not be here without the support we have received from them. This past year, with the tremendous growth we experienced, we needed even more support with shoes. Academy Sports & Outdoors generously stepped up to help fill the gap. I wish you could see the joy on the girls faces the day they received their shoes. Just amazing! In addition to sponsorship contributions, we are seeing an increasing amount of money raised through the support of third party events. We d like to thank The Woodlands Marathon, Houston Marathon Foundation, LEAF, Reason2Race, BON Running Club, Baylor Belay Foundation, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Color in Motion, and our SoleMates program, which all helped raise enough funds to support 21 sites in 2013.

5 Over 300 Valuable Volunteers As important as our sponsorship/funding Team is, our people, as in any endeavor, are the true keys to our success. Girls on the Run Greater Houston has the dedication of over 130 Volunteer coaches each season that facilitate our program across the Greater Houston area. These women and men devote not only their time and energy, but their love of running, of the girls, of the sense of accomplishment, of LIFE, that many times is the only peek into the cornerstones of success that the girls may see. At each training session, meeting, and site visit, I am in awe of how blessed Girls on the Run Greater Houston is to have each and every one of these women and men in our corner. Making sure all the cogs of this great Team are running efficiently is the Girls on the Run Board of Directors. Over the last two years GOTRGH has had the opportunity to really focus on Board Development and find amazing people with the passion for the Girls on the Run mission and vision. The Board also has a broad base of knowledge that I am able to tap into frequently. The GOTRGH Board of Directors is an integral and invaluable member of the Girls on the Run Greater Houston Team. I am thankful to our TEAM for creating such a successful 2013 and am looking forward to growing our Team and program and making 2014 even better.
