1 COURSE SCHEDULE of ENGLISH-LANGUAGE COURSES at SÖDERTÖRN UNIVERSITY In the next few pages, you will find an overview of all English-language courses both undergraduate and Master s-level - offered at Södertörn University during Autumn Semester 2012 and Spring Semester This overview gives you a picture of which courses are offered when, and thus allows you to see, at a glance, how you might plan your studies at the University for the Autumn or Spring semesters or for an entire year. In Sweden, university students usually take only one course at a time. These courses are, however, correspondingly intense, and presuppose your full-time engagement. A hardworking student can, on occasion, take two full-time courses at once; but this is not recommended. Some courses are half-pace, which means that they meet fewer times a week, but run for longer periods. You can easily take two half-pace courses at once. We offer a number of English- and Swedish language courses. The Swedish courses, and the introductory-level English courses, are designed so that they can be taken in addition to a normal course-load. Do check the overview, finally, to make sure that you have courses planned for a full-time course of study, covering the entire semester without the full-time courses you have chosen running at the same time. There you will find detailed descriptions of each course, in alphabetical order. (Key: AS12 means Autumn Semester 2012; SS13 means Spring Semester A 7.5 ECTS course runs for about a month, if full-time; a 15 ECTS course runs for about two months, if full-time. Check the overview, below, for start-and-end dates.) For each Department s home-page, click subject the Department home-page can give you additional information on course offerings, and you can always contact the Department Secretary for more. The overview, meanwhile, will give a good composite picture of first undergraduate, and then Master s courses (note that Master s courses can be open to qualified undergraduates). Courses that appear in blue squares are only open to exchange students. If the course title is followed by a (B) or a (C), this indicates that the course requires 30 credits (B) or 60 credits (C) in that or an equivalent discipline. All other courses are introductory, that is, on the so-called (A) level, or do not require credits in that exact discipline.
