1 SYLLABUS BACHELOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (B.P.E.) PART-I FOR THE YEAR 2014, 2015 & 2016 EXAMINATIONS OUTLINES OF TESTS The course of instruction for the Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E.) Part-I consist of the following parts: Note: (i) (ii) PART- A THEORY (External) 550 marks. PART- B-I SKILL AND PROWESS 150 marks. -II FORMAL ACTIVITIES 50 marks. Examination in Skill and Prowess and Practical s shall be conducted jointly by an internal and external be clubbed into 4-5 groups and of each group of activities be examined by the two examiners indicated above. Half of the activities will be examined in November and the remaining half along with the final examination. The Principal will form the groups of activities and intimate the same to the University. Scoring Tables Athletics attached at the end of the syllabus be used. If a candidate who fails to qualify or who misses the examination in any activity/activities in the first term, it is obligatory for him to appear in the activities of the first term along with the final examination PART-A THEORY Note: Each Theory paper is of three hours duration irrespective of its weight age. PART-B-II Formal Activity 50 Marks (External) (Lesson will be evaluated by One External and One Internal Examiner) (1) Gymnastics (2) Lazium (3) Drill and marching (4) Free hand exercise. PAPER-I: INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION Duration of the Paper: 3 hours Maximum marks: 100 INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PAPER SETTER The question paper will consist of five sections A, B, C, D and E. Section A, B, C and D will have two questions from respective sections of the syllabus and will carry 15 marks each. Sections E will consist of 10 short-answer type questions which will cover the entire syllabus uniformly and will carry 40 marks in all. INTSTRUCTION FOR THE CANDIDATES Candidates are required to attempt one question each from the sections A, B, C and D the entire section E. SECTION-A

9 IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION FOR PAPER SETTER AND EXAMINER TESTING 1. From Prose and Story sections, two questions to be set offering internal choice. Students will attempt any one question. The question will carry 5 marks. 2. Seven short answer type questions to be set from story and prose and students will attempt any five. The question will carry 2 marks each total 10 Marks. 3. From Poetry section, two questions (summary and stanza) to be set offering internal choice. Students will attempt both the questions. The question will carry 2.5 marks each 5 marks. 3. Questions to be set in Do as directed form from (Section B), 20 questions to be set and students will be required to attempt any 15. Each question carries 1 marks-15 Marks. 4. Questions to be set in Do as directed form from (Section C), 15 questions to be set and students will be required to attempt any 10.Each question carries 2 marks-20 Marks.. 5. Two types of letters to be set from Section D and the students will attempt any one. Letter writing will carry 10 marks. 6. Paragraphs will be given in English for translation into Hindi / Punjabi.
