2 Mitel Interperability Certificatin Prcess Overview fr MSA Develper Partners (including SIP Service Prviders) 1. Applicability: Mitel Interperability Certificatin is: a) Required fr any third-party partner (3PP) prduct/service/slutin that integrates and/r interperates with Mitel cre prducts using Mitel APIs, prtcls r interfaces (e.g., Mitel OIG, MiTAI, OAI, CSTA, OIP, ATAS, SIP, etc.), and which is resld by Mitel. b) Optinal fr 3PP prducts/services/slutins nt resld by Mitel. Hwever, Mitel Prduct Supprt assistance fr custmer deplyments utilizing 3PP prducts/slutins/services that interperate with Mitel platfrms is nly available fr such slutins that have been certified by Mitel, at the MCT r higher level Purpse & Benefits: The Mitel Interp Certificatin Prgram is intended t: Validate interperability and all integratin pints between the Mitel platfrm and the partner prduct r service. Maximize the quality and reliability f integrated prducts/slutins/services, and minimize partner and Mitel supprt burden. Encurage custmer cnfidence in 3PP fferings, and guide custmers tward selectin f Mitelcertified slutins as designated by ne f the Mitel certificatin lgs, i.e., Mitel-Cmpatible Test (MCT), Mitel-Qualified Test (MQT), r Mitel-Apprved Test (MAT). 3. Paths fr Pursuing Mitel Interperability Certificatin: SIP service prviders have three pssible paths fr pursuing interp certificatin with Mitel, as utlined belw. Third-party applicatin develpers using Mitel APIs/interfaces t integrate r interperate with Mitel platfrms (e.g., Mitel OIG, MiTAI, OAI, CSTA, OIP, ATAS, SIP lineside, etc.) must pursue Optin C (i.e., the MSA Membership path): Optin A Spnsred Testing by Mitel Field Technician/Authrized Channel (Reseller) Partner Technician This ptin applies fr SIP Trunking service prviders wh are already wrking with a Mitel channel partner (reseller) r ther Mitel business/sales prime wh has a high degree f visibility int the mutual business pprtunities which culd be advanced via Mitel interp certificatin, and has the technical capability and resurces t perfrm the system setup and testing themselves. In this situatin, the Mitel reseller/business prime acts as spnsr fr the SIP Trunking service prvider, and takes respnsibility fr assembling the requisite supprting business case and then engaging the Mitel Interp Team n behalf f the prvider. After reviewing and apprving the request, access t the Mitel Self-Test Prtal (STP) will be prvided t the lcal Mitel sales team r reseller partner, t enable a qualified Mitel r reseller field technician t perfrm the testing fr subsequent uplad, review and granting f frmal MCT r MQT status by the Mitel Interp Team. There is n charge t the spnsr, and the timing fr the testing is largely in the reseller's cntrl as they are assigning their wn technical resurce t perfrm the testing. Optin A is usually the fastest path t certificatin (if the spnsr can assign resurces quickly). This ptin is nt available t the Service Prvider directly, unless the SP is als a Mitel reseller. It is als nt available at all fr SIP lineside r APIbased integratins such as OIG r CSTA. T pursue Optin A, the Mitel r reseller spnsr shuld cntact MSAInf@mitel.cm with the interp requirement details and cntact details fr the technician wh will be perfrming the testing, requesting STP access credentials and instructins. The request shuld include a business justificatin, including the
4 estimated revenue pprtunity fr Mitel and the reseller, and/r ther strategic justificatin fr the interp activity. Optin B Spnsred Testing by Mitel in a Mitel Interp Lab This ptin applies fr all types f third-party applicatin and service prviders wh are already wrking with a Mitel channel partner (reseller) r ther Mitel business/sales prime wh has a high degree f visibility int the mutual business pprtunities which culd be advanced via Mitel interp certificatin. In this situatin, the Mitel reseller/business prime acts as spnsr fr the applicatin/service prvider, and takes respnsibility fr assembling the requisite supprting business case and then engaging the Mitel Interp Team n behalf f the prvider. Depending n the scpe f the business justificatin, the time urgency f the request, Mitel interp resurce availability, and the specific reginal and technical requirements f the interp, ne f the fllwing strategies may apply: a) The Mitel Interp Certificatin team will schedule and perfrm testing and Mitel certificatin f the slutin (i.e. testing and certificatin by Mitel in ur lab), at Mitel expense. b) The apprpriate lcal Mitel Cuntry Sales Unit (CSU) will crdinate with the Mitel Interp Team t perfrm the testing and Mitel certificatin f the slutin in the lcal regin, with fee arrangements t be negtiated between the CSU (Mitel business spnsr) and the 3PP. c) The reseller will be directed t make a request fr qutatin thrugh the Mitel Prfessinal Services web prtal fr Mitel certificatin f the slutin (i.e. testing and certificatin by Mitel in ur lab), at reseller partner expense. T pursue Optin B, the Mitel spnsr shuld cntact MSAInf@mitel.cm with the request details. If certificatin at Mitel expense is being sught, the request must include a detailed quantitative business case, including f the estimated revenue pprtunity fr Mitel and the reseller, and/r ther strategic justificatin fr the interp activity. Timing fr Optin B is highly dependent n the business pririty f the specific activity and current Interp Team backlg, and will be determined nce the business justificatin is in place. Optin C MSA Membership This ptin applies fr all third-party applicatin and service prviders using Mitel Advanced APIs/interfaces platfrms (e.g., Mitel OIG, MiTAI, OAI, CSTA, OIP, ATAS), and all ther types f slutins r services (e.g., SIP Trunking r SIP Lineside) that d nt invlve a Mitel business spnsr. In this case, the applicatin/service prvider begins by jining the Mitel Slutins Alliance (MSA), ur develper partner prgram. SIP prviders jin at the MSA Develper Partner (MDP) Cmmercial Basic member level (USD$1000/year). Applicatin prviders intending t use Mitel Advanced APIs/interfaces jin at the MDP Cmmercial Advanced member level (USD$3000/year). MSA membership ffers many benefits, including: Access t a cmprehensive suite f Mitel prduct APIs, SDKs, & interfaces InfChannel MSA (Mitel internal web prtal) access credentials Technical dcumentatin & access t training (nline & instructr-led) Steep discunts n Mitel cre prducts purchased fr in-huse develpment/lab/test purpses, and the ability t manage these prducts via the Mitel nline licensing prtals 2 Develper Supprt 2 N Mitel equipment is included in the MSA membership fee.
5 Integratin/interperability test resurces, including access t the Mitel Interp Certificatin Prgram; assistance with Self-Assessment Testing; and certificatin Cnfig Guide, lg package and usage authrizatin fr cmpleted MCT, MQT & MAT certificatin activities. [3PP access t Cnfig Guides and certificatin lgs are nly available t MSA members at the MDP r higher member levels]. Cmpany & certified prduct listings in the Mitel Glbal Slutins Catalg (GSC) the centralized resurce fr Mitel reseller partners and end-custmers t find Mitel-interperable 3PP prducts and slutins T pursue Optin C, navigate t fr further infrmatin n the MSA prgram, and then select Jin MSA Nw t cmplete the nline applicatin frm. Once enrlled in MSA, members receive lgn credentials fr InfChannel MSA, ur nline member web prtal. This prtal prvides access t Mitel interp dcumentatin and supprt, and allws the member t request a qute fr Mitel certificatin in ur lab. 5. Self-Assessment Testing (SAT): Fr mst 3PP slutins 3, the first phase f the Mitel 3PP interp test certificatin prcess is Self-Assessment Testing, which is a test executed by the 3PP in accrdance with a testplan apprved by Mitel. Mitel assistance with the SAT prcess, and review f SAT results, is included with the price f MSA membership. Except where therwise nted, cmpletin f the SAT prcess is a pre-requisite fr pursuing frmal Mitel certificatin (MCT, MQT r MAT). SAT AND MCT PROCESS FOR ALL SOLUTIONS EXCEPT SIP TRUNKING SERVICES (MSA MEMBERS): a) In general, Mitel expects the 3PP t supply a testplan fr review/edit/apprval by Mitel (typically based n the testplan used by the 3PP fr their in-huse slutins testing), althugh Mitel ffers sme existing generic template testplans that cver certain rutinely tested prduct categries. b) T begin the SAT prcess, access the available Mitel SAT testplan templates fr review, blend with yur existing testplan as apprpriate, cmplete, and send cmpleted testplan t MSAInf@mitel.cm. Testplan templates can be dwnladed frm InfChannel MSA 4 : Lg n t Mitel Cnnect, then select InfChannel MSA > Partner Prgram > Interp Certificatin Fr interperable slutins which use Mitel APIs such as Mitel OIG, MiTAI, OAI, SRC, etc., start by dwnlading the MSA Generic Self-Assessment Test (SAT) Interperability Testplan. Fr SIP Interp Testplans, refer t the prduct-specific API and Interface sectin. c) 3PPs can btain Mitel equipment fr in-huse lab/develpment/test purpses, at steep discunts, via the MSA Member Equipment Discunt prgram. Typical Develper System Bill-f-Materials (BOMs) are available fr review. Cntact MSAInf@mitel.cm fr additinal infrmatin including pricing and rdering details. d) Once SAT testing is cmpleted (in-huse r field testing), cmplete and submit the relevant SAT testplan dcument with applicatin infrmatin, test cases and test results. The Interp Team will fllw up with any questins and, nce reslved, will issue ntificatin that Mitel has accepted the SAT results. 3 Except SIP Trunking Services see special instructins belw. 4 Prtal access requires MSA member credentials
6 e) The SAT is an assertin by the 3PP that the prduct/service/slutin is interperable with urs, and serves as a prerequisite fr frmal certificatin by Mitel in ur lab. Because it is an assertin f cmpatibility by the 3PP (and nt by Mitel), n Mitel certificatin lg is assciated with the SAT certificatin designatin. The MSA Develper Partner r SIP Service Prvider may stp with the SAT designatin, r ptinally cntinue with the frmal Mitel certificatin prcess. f) Assuming yu wish t prceed with certificatin testing by Mitel (see additinal infrmatin belw), request a qute as fllws 5 : Lg n t Mitel Cnnect, then select Mitel OnLine Navigate t Hme > MSA, then access the Request a Qute link in the right sidebar. Cmplete the frm and submit yur request alng with the cmpleted SAT Plan attached. Fllw up with an t MSAInf@mitel.cm, t enable us t begin tracking yur interp request. g) The Mitel Interp Prgram team will fllw up with any questins, and then a qutatin, Statement f Wrk (SOW), and instructins fr rdering the certificatin services will be issued. SAT AND MCT PROCESS FOR SIP TRUNKING SERVICES (MSA MEMBERS): a) SAT testing is nt required fr SIP Trunking Service Prviders (althugh SIP Trunking prviders are f curse free t d such SAT testing in their wn labs r in the field). b) The Mitel Interp Team als perates a remte access Self-Test Prtal (STP) which prvides detailed SIP Trunking testplans and instructins, and als enables SIP Trunking service prviders t engage in the SAT prcess in the absence f lcal access t Mitel lab/test equipment. MSA members r Mitel Spnsrs can request SIP accunt access n the STP by ing MSAInf@mitel.cm. Additinal fees apply fr MSA member access t the STP. [MSA membership enables members t purchase Mitel equipment fr lab/develpment/test purpses, at very steep discunts, and MSA expects cmmitted interp partners t maintain their wn in-huse Mitel lab setup fr nging self-testing activities.] c) SIP Trunking Service Prviders seeking Mitel interp certificatin shuld begin by dwnlading the SIP Interperability Questinnaire frm InfChannel MSA 6 : Lg n t Mitel Cnnect, then select InfChannel MSA > Partner Prgram > Interp Certificatin Dwnlad and cmplete the SIP Interperability Questinnaire. d) Request a Mitel certificatin qute as fllws 7 : Lg n t Mitel Cnnect, then select Mitel OnLine Navigate t Hme > MSA, then access the Request a Qute link in the right sidebar. Cmplete the frm and submit yur request alng with the cmpleted SIP Interp Questinnaire attached. 7 e) The Mitel Interp Prgram team will fllw up with any questins, and then a qutatin, Statement f Wrk (SOW), and instructins fr rdering the certificatin services will be issued. 6. Mitel Certificatin Testing (MCT/MQT/MAT): The purpse f Mitel certificatin testing is t enable Mitel t assert that the 3PP slutin r service is interperable with the Mitel prduct(s). In mst cases, the SAT testplan is used as the basis fr Mitel certificatin testing, supplemented with additinal test cases and review f prduct dcumentatin (e.g., Admin & User Guides; Engineering Guidelines), as determined necessary by Mitel t achieve the prject and certificatin bjectives. Mitel certificatin is always perfrmed n GA releases (Mitel and the 3PP). Mitel certificatin is nt a substitute fr cmprehensive unit/regressin/integratin/scalability/lad testing by the 3PP, all f which shuld be cmpleted by the 3PP fr each prduct/service release, befre the Mitel certificatin effrt is initiated. Fr 3PP slutins with a current Mitel certificatin, a Mitel reseller deplying the certified versin can engage Mitel Prduct Supprt fr assistance (i.e., pen a Mitel supprt ticket) fr technical issues encuntered with the 3PP slutin integratin. Fr slutins that d nt have a current Mitel certificatin, Mitel Prduct Supprt will nt prvide assistance t Mitel resellers (i.e., will nt pen a supprt ticket). Instead, the Mitel reseller will be directed t cntact the 3PP directly fr supprt assistance. 7. Mitel Interp Cnfiguratin Guide & Lg Authrity: Fr every successful interp that achieves an MCT, MQT r MAT designatin, Mitel will prduce a detailed cnfiguratin guide related t the interp, which is published n InfChannel and the Mitel Knwledgebase, summarized in the Mitel Interp Reference Guide, and prvided t the 3PP alng with the crrespnding Mitel certificatin lg package and usage authrizatin (MSA MDP and higher members nly). The cnfiguratin guide typically cntains the fllwing infrmatin: Specificatin f the equipment and sftware versins tested. Sme types f Cnfig Guides als prvide a list and descriptin f specific test cases executed. Details f any knwn limitatins assciated with the interp, including recmmendatins and wrkarunds if applicable. Cnfiguratin infrmatin including screenshts t assist a qualified technician in prperly cnfiguring the Mitel & 3PP system t successfully interp, as a supplement t the prduct dcumentatin. 8. Recertificatin Requirements: The MCT/MQT/MAT certificatin applies nly t the specific Mitel and 3PP prduct versins tested. There is n implied future r backward cmpatibility assciated with the interp. The 3PP is respnsible fr keeping abreast f new Mitel prduct releases and maintaining their Mitel interp cmpatibility. Any time there is a change t the prduct interface n either side (Mitel s r the 3PP), the 3PP is respnsible fr cntacting the Mitel Interp Team t schedule an interp review call t enable a mutual assessment f the need fr retesting/recertificatin. Depending upn the significance f the interface changes and crrespnding peratinal and business risks, the teams may agree t perfrm a full r partial recertificatin; r t extend the previus Mitel certificatin designatin t apply t the latest prduct versins (withut new testing). MSA members wh decline t pursue recertificatin, and fr whm evidence exists f an interp-related field supprt burden, may have their MSA membership terminated. In additin, the Mitel Interp Team uses the fllwing general criteria t indicate t Mitel reseller partners and custmers (via the Mitel Interp Reference Guide) whether a given interp is current:
8 Interp is classified as stale (Yellw in the Mitel Interp Reference Guide) if it s been mre than 18 mnths since the last MCT/MQT/MAT certificatin; mre than 12 mnths since last evidence f SAT update; r mre than N-1 releases since last evidence f SAT update. Interp is classified as bslete (Red in the Mitel Interp Reference Guide) if it s been mre than 36 mnths since the last MCT/MQT/MAT certificatin; mre than 24 mnths since last evidence f SAT update; mre than N-1 releases since last MCT/MQT/MAT certificatin; r if Mitel has evidence f interp-related field supprt issues. Mitel typically des ne majr release per year per cre platfrm, and several pint releases r service packs. 9. Fees: Fees (abve and beynd the MSA membership fee) fr frmal Mitel certificatin testing by Mitel via Optin C (MSA Membership path) are determined n a prject-by-prject basis by MSA, the Mitel Interp Team and/r ther Mitel prfessinal services rganizatins. Fees are driven by many factrs, including number and cmplexity f test cases; whether the testing is an initial certificatin r a recertificatin activity; degree t which the STP can be used; and whether r nt the activity is spnsred in full r in part by a Mitel r reseller business prime. Firm qutes fr MCT & MQT certificatin are nt prvided until after cmpletin f the SAT prcess (and/r review f the SIP Interp Questinnaire, fr SIP Trunking Service prviders). Hwever, fr general estimating purpses, MCT & MQT certificatin fees typically range frm USD$4000 t $8000.
