ENERPLAN projects Disruption Management Stowage
Competitive Network Design Transportation times Number of transhipments Empty container repositioning 9 24 June 2013
Economy and environment go hand in hand Difficult to regulate CO2 emission from international trade Difficult to motivate end users Optimization: Run network more efficiently Move transportation from land to sea June 2013
Strategic Simulation innovative strategy development and risk management Mette Sanne Hansen, Postdoc NARRATIVE SIMULATION NUMERICAL SIMULATION S 1 INPUT A OUTPUT S 3 S 2 B X S 4 S 5 C D Y Z The interaction between narrative and numerical simulation as a practical tool for strategy development and risk management across the different layers of an organisation 11
Routing and scheduling of tramp ships PhD project by Charlotte Vilhelmsen Background Tramp ships operate like taxies following available cargoes Operators often have contract cargoes that must be carried and seek to maximise profit from optional cargoes The problem: Routing and scheduling Which cargoes to carry On which ship to carry which cargoes In which order to serve cargoes What time to pickup/discharge each cargo Large fleets make manual planning inefficient Overall goal Develop advanced mathematical models and use Operations Research techniques to efficiently route and schedule tramp ships Incorporate operational aspects, e.g. refueling, speed selection and stowage to achieve input on both tactical and operational levels
Innovation in networks in the maritime industry How collaboration for innovation creates business value for the maritime industry By Zoran Perunovic, Mads Christoffersen and Sofia Fürstenberg Objectives To determine the key enablers, barriers, and mechanisms of innovation in networks in the maritime industry To identify the key characteristics of collaborative innovation processes applied in the maritime industry To determine managerial actions to be undertaken to organize for successful innovation in networks
