1 SPEAKERS Kirk Anderson, USA, Director, Coach Education and Development, USTA Kirk Anderson is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry and holds the Master Professional classification from both organizations. He has a Bachelor s degree in Physical Education and a Master s degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University. He is a graduate of the USTA High Performance Coach program and is certified by the International Youth Conditioning Association as a Youth Fitness Specialist. In 2003, Anderson received the International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award, was named Person of the Year by Racquet Sports Industry magazine in 2006, and the Professional Tennis Registry Professional of the Year in Steve Keller, USA, Director of Education, PTR Steve has been a PTR member since 1986, is now responsible for the educational direction and content of the organization s five (5) certification pathways as well as the Master of Tennis programs. He will oversee PTR clinician training to ensure continuity of content delivery as well as design and develop professional development courses to create opportunities for certified members to fulfill the new continuing education requirements. Steve will also serve as the national liaison to the USTA Coaching Education department. Prior to joining PTR, Steve spent 18 years with the Van der Meer organization prior to joining Tennis Corporation of America. Steve earned the distinguished USTA/PTR Public Service Award in 1996 and is only the second person to deliver professional development courses in all fifty (50) United States. Hrvoje Zmajic, Croatia, ITF/Tennis Europe Development Office, European Region The key task of his job is assisting National associations in developing tennis with special focus on junior development and Coaches education. Between 1993 and 1999 Hrvoje served as National junior coach for Croatian Tennis Association and worked with some of the most promising players. From Hrvoje was travelling with ITF/Tennis Europe international Teams and conducted several Coaches' courses and training camps in East Europe and Middle East for the ITF and Tennis Europe. 1

2 Besides his job as Development officer, Hrvoje is in charge of Coaches' education in Croatia organized under umbrella of Croatian Olympic Committee. In 1988 Hrvoje graduated at Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb and holds a master degree in sport science from Carl Maes, Belgium, Academy Director Kim Clijsters academy/international tennis consultant for Norwegian Tennis Association (Ten4 Academy) Carl is one of the most experienced and respected coaches of female tennis players in the world. He joined the Belgian Tennis Federation in 1992 and throughout his time there, Carl specialized in the coaching of female tennis players, both seniors and juniors. Carl worked with former US Open champion Kim Clijsters from the age of 12 and coached her exclusively between 1999 and 2002 during which time Kim reached a Sony Ericsson WTA world ranking of No.3. As Belgium s Fed Cup captain, he led his side to only their second ever final. He was formerly the LTA s Head of Women s Tennis where his role was to oversee and develop the junior and senior women s game in Britain. Carl has also been a WTA board member for two years as a Player Representative. Carl has also worked with wickmayer, malisse, vliegen Mike Barrell, UK, Owner Evolve9, Mike is the Director of evolve9, a specialist training company that focuses on coach education and program development for the under 10 age group. He also works as an LTA Coach Education Tutor, where he conducts certification courses and the Advanced Mini Tennis Course. He was a major contributor to the LTA Mini Tennis Program, and now continues to work as a consultant, delivering coach education and consultancy for tennis associations, clubs and major organizations. He has been a teaching pro for 22 years, is an LTA Level 3 Licensed Coach, and a member of the PTR and BTCA. Mike wrote the PTR supplement, Growing Kids, Growing the Game, a Developmental Guide for Teaching Under 10 s, PTR Kids Tennis Manual, and was a favorite speaker at several PTR International Tennis Symposia. 2

3 Mark Bullock, UK, ITF Wheelchair Tennis Development Officer Mark holds an Economics degree from the University of Nottingham (1989) and an MSc in Recreation Management from Loughborough University (1991) in the UK. He was Athletic Union President at the University of Nottingham from He worked as Tennis Development Officer for the City of Nottingham Tennis Centre from before moving to the Welsh National Tennis Centre in Cardiff to perform the same role. In 1997 he returned to the City of Nottingham Tennis Centre as General Manager, a role he performed until joining the ITF in He is the former coach to the Great Britain Men's Wheelchair Tennis team. He attended 4 Invacare World Team Cups and the 1996 and 2012 Paralympic Games. He was the personal coach of Jayant Mistry, a former British No. 1, for a number of years. He also worked with wheelchair athlete Dame Tanni Grey- Thompson at the 1996 Paralympic Games. Mark has been the ITF s Wheelchair Tennis Development Officer for 10 years and has visited more than 60 countries promoting and developing the sport. Max de Vylder, Belgium, International Tennis Consultant Having a master s degree in physical education and sport science he was involved in writing and delivering applied biomechanics and motor learning in the Belgian coach education, as well as teaching tactics and technique in the different levels of tennis coaching courses. He also worked as coach for the Belgian tennis federation and has extensive experience in working with promising junior players. Max worked on the implementation of an extensive Talent ID program and the training of the LTA coaches on the quality of a 10&U performance program. He also developed a performance analysis program for the players in the National Tennis Centre. Jamie Fernandez PhD, Spain, Sports Science Expert Jaime works as a researcher in the coaching science department at Bochum University. He holds a PhD in exercise physiology related to tennis. He is also the coordinator for sport science and coaching at the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation. He has presented at multiple international and national conferences, and the ITF Worldwide coaches conference. 3

4 Irene Chichmarova, Belarus, Nike scouting coach, Eastern Europe region, ITF Travelling Coach Irene holds a degree from the Physical Fitness University of Minsk in Belarus. She is a national tutor for Belarus and holds a level 2 coaching qualification for advanced players (ITF syllabi). Currently she is the ITF traveling coach for U14 and U16 players in her region and has coached junior Roland Garros champion Ons Jaber and ITF top twenty players including Danca Kovinich. She has been a participant and speaker in various international conferences including the ITF Worldwide Coaches Conference (WCC), Tennis Europe Symposiums and national conferences. She has also translated coach education texts into Russian, in particular the ITF Beginner and Intermediate manual, as well as the Play and Stay manual from the ITF. Espen Foss, Norway, National Manager, Team Tenniskolen (National U10 program) Espen is the National Manager of Team Tenniskolen, the official Norwegian program for 10 and under. Considered on of the most progressive and innovative U10 programs based in a small country, Espen has used all his experience in event management and coaching to produce something that is both engaging and innovative. He coordinated a full series of national events, trainings and presentations. Before focusing on this age group, he was part of the national performance program, helping run the SEB national camp program coach. Kenneth Bastian, Belgium, Coach2Competence, Coach & Owner Already at the age of 20, Steven Martens and Ivo Van Aken engaged Kenneth as head coach conditioning at the VTV (now Tennis Flanders) High Performance Centre in Belgium. For 9 years he guided athletes and coaches and developed new pathways for strength & conditioning. He had the conditional supervision of players as Kirsten Flipkens, Yanina Wickmayer, Alison Van Uytvanck, Ruben Bemelmans and Kimmer Coppejans. At the highest level, he was a consultant/trainer in the coach- player team of Kim Clijsters, Yanina Wickmayer, An- Sophie Mestach and Irina Khromacheva, and he was the personal coach of pro player Niels Desein. As Be Gold- manager he reformed the the talent id & development system of Tennis Flanders. In doing so, he founded the very valuable Be Coach training and support sessions for coaches. 4

5 Øivind Sørvald, Norway, Director of sports in Norwegian Tennis Association (NTF) Recently established TEN4 Academy in Oslo, for the 25 best performance players in Norway. Member of Tennis Europe Development committee. Coached tennis players of all levels for more than 30 years. Level 3 educated and International Tester for PTR since PTR member for more than 25 years. Director of Tennis at Van der Meer Tennis from Oivind has been a tutor for PTR courses, and for more than 20 years conducted coach education courses in NTF. Oivind has developed a program and a method for analyzing technical and tactical factors in the game. He has worked as analyzer for several world- class coaches, for a couple of top ten ranked female players in the world. In the past 5 years has developed and implemented a new framework for coach education in Norwegian tennis Donato Campagneli, Italy, Technical Consultant, Italian Tennis Federation European 4 th level tennis coach, MBA in Sport Management, Conference interpreter, freelance researcher for the University of Bologna, coach of numerous ATP players, he currently lectures for the Coaches' Education System of the Italian Tennis Federation (FIT) as a freelance technical and tactical consultant and is active as a private advisor for players, clubs and tennis schools in Italy and internationally. He owns Mas- Tech an innovative start- up company working in the field of technology applied to tennis. 5
