2 Flexibility and mobility are two important factors for a smooth operation. The boom and feed movements of ROC F9 gives the rig excellent flexibility for vertical, horizontal and angle drilling. The posibility of placing the feed horizontal also facilitates servicing of the feed and rock drill.

3 ROC the Power Generation The ROC F9 has everything you re looking for......but that s not surprising, because you helped us design it! Before we built the ROC F9, we consulted with hundreds of people on dozens of drill sites and much of what they told us is incorporated into the new design. We ve beefed up the power with a big Caterpillar diesel engine; the new cab design is even more user-friendly; and with service facilities and parts close by, we can be at your side faster than ever. The ROC F9 is not just another machine. It s a product of interaction. A classic example of Atlas Copco s continuing drive towards ever higher standards in rock drilling. A powerful and versatile tophammer drill rig Not only is the ROC F9 the most powerful tophammer drill rig in its class. It s versatile too and it s remarkably nimble. The ROC F9 is available with a single boom, ideal for use in quarries, or a folding boom with the versatility to tackle all kinds of construction work. The long vertical and horizontal reach of the folding boom gives more holes per rig set-up, less tramming and more drilling time, and hence higher productivity. Heavy-duty tracks plus a low center of gravity, excellent weight distribution and generous ground clearance give superb tramming, making it easy to reach any work site quickly and safely. The ROC F9 also features: Double drill-steel support, which gives better guidance when collaring and hence straighter holes enabling you to optimize the drill pattern for low drilling and blasting costs. A big Atlas Copco 0 l/s ( cfm) screw compressor. Designed with service in mind This is something we take for granted in Atlas Copco, but never pay lip service to. Service points are readily accessed; all hydraulic hoses and electrical cables are marked at both ends; and standard parts are used. Ergonomics and safety When the going gets tough, the tough get going! And you can afford to get tough with the ROC F9. But you do it with comfort and safety. The new ergonomic cab gives the operator excellent all-round visibility and easy access to controls. There s an optional hydraulic winch with built-in safety break for holding the rig secure on inclines and when the going gets really tough, you can drive the rig remotely with a hand-held control panel. Simultaneous operation of winch and tramming controls, and control of track oscillation and boom movements, can be performed safely from a distance. For inclines greater than 0, we recommend a winch and remote control.

4 Welcome aboard! The interplay between man and machine starts in the operator s cab. For this reason, we have expended great effort in the development of a well conceived, purpose-built cab. Even the smallest details have been considered. Welcome aboard a modern work station, not only in terms of mechanical function but also ergonomics, safety and environment. Function Superb view of the drill hole from the operator s station facilitates accurate collaring. Atlas Copco screw compressor, delivering 0 l/s at bar, guarantees excellent flushing. Jumbo-sized windscreen wiper as well as wipers on the righthand (option), and roof windows gives good visibility even in bad weather. Spacious cab gives good moveability and comfort for the operator. Double drill steel guides gives straighter holes. Straighter holes and bigger burden and spacing save explosives. More efficient drilling saves fuel. CAT diesel engine with a great power reserve for trouble free operation and long service life. Easily accessed, lockable service hatches. (Lockability is a good security precaution at isolated worksites.) Easy-to-read instrumentation that is simple to learn and to use. -volt outlet for mobile telephone. The machine is intended for Ø 89-7 mm production drilling on surface, using T or T60 drill steel. The rock drill can be equipped with a hydraulic extractor unit to assist withdrawal of the drill-string in troublesome rock conditions. Much careful research has been done at Atlas Copco into the way percussive power can be transmitted to the drill bit as efficiently as possible. Thanks to this, we have achieved in our rock drills the ideal balance between penetration rate and drill steel life, giving you optimum drilling economy. Higher penetration rates give more drillmeters, but there s no value if the gain is eaten up by increased drill steel costs! More production from less power The secret lies in the impact piston. Our research and experience tell us that the shock waves from a long, slender piston of similar diameter to the drill steel itself are transferred to the drill steel with less stress. Lower stresses mean reduced power losses, and that means more power reaches the rock, giving higher productivity. Double-dampening for longer life More power reaching the rock has a downside. It means that the return shocks are greater. The COP 60 is therefore fitted with a unique double-dampening system that permits greater power levels without increasing wear in the drill steel, the feed or the boom. Precision-matched shank adapter The shank adapter is the part of a rock drill that is subject to the highest stress and needs to match the rock steel and piston exactly. Drill steel extractor is optional When drilling in difficult rock, where there is a high risk of the drill string getting stuck, it makes good sense to invest in the drill string extractor. This is easy to engage. Simply reverse the feed and the stuck drill string is hammered free of the hole. Yet another Atlas Copco innovation that adds real value to your operation! Straight hole drilling Where there is a need for even straighter holes, you can substitute the first drill rod for a rigid TAC guide tube, which helps to guide the drill steel straight. Different TAC guide tubes are available for different hole sizes. 7
