3 OVERVIEW Currently, Galileo system offers the ability to request a Best Buy quotation from a booked itinerary with up to 8 active flight segments in order to retrieve the lowest possible fare. As travel patterns and associated fare structures become increasingly complex, some itineraries now contain more than 8 active flights segments. This enhancement delivers the ability to request Best Buy processing for itineraries containing up to 16 active flight segments on Galileo. In some markets, a limited number of Galileo subscribers may already have their locations configured to process Best Buy transactions with up to 16 segments. KEY FEATURES All Best Buy transactions including Best Buy Compare (FQBBC) and Best Buy Regardless of Availability (FQBBA) are supported with this enhancement. Interactive link statusing will also be maintained in order to validate last seat availability in real-time using vendor links, where available and active for all carriers in the transaction. New screen responses apply for Best Buy transactions greater than 8 segments. DETAIL With this enhancement, Best Buy processing will now return fares for itineraries with up to 16 segments. Best Buy Processing: The Galileo Best Buy processing will be as follows: FQBB FQBA FQBC FQBK Quote Best Buy for up to 16 segments. Quote Best Buy irregardless of availability for up to 16 segments. Quote Best Buy calculate the saving between the fare for the itinerary as booked and the fare after the rebook for up to 16 segments. The Best Buy rebook will be increased to 16 segments. Performance: In order to shorten response times for larger itineraries and mitigate potential transaction timeout responses, Galileo system will limit both the number and types of pricing solutions that are generated from a Best Buy request. A ceiling of 1500 fare combinations will be interrogated for the entire itinerary, this limitation will not be invoked for requests involving 8 segments or less.
4 Revised Galileo response screens: The response will be the same as the current response for all Galileo itineraries when the Best Buy request is for 8 or less segments. Minor screen changes are associated to activation of this enhancement for itineraries greater than 8 segments. This provides for an increase volume of data to be displayed on the screen in order to accommodate additional segment information. When the Best Buy response is for greater than 8 segments, two lines will display for the rebook information. The first rebook line will display the rebook information for the first 8 segments. The second rebook line will display the rebook information for segments The system will rebook the itinerary when FQBBK is entered.
