2 Notre Dame de Chicago Parish 2 Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time From the desk of the Pastor... Del escritorio del Pastor... Pope Francis meeting with the Bishops of the United States, Cathedral of St. Matthew, September 23, 2015: Dear Brother Bishops..is how he began his remarks. He spoke of the mission of the Bishop saying: Our greatest joy is to be shepherds, and only shepherds, pastors with undivided hearts and selfless devotion. We need to preserve this joy and never let ourselves be robbed of it. In our modern world, joy is so quickly dissipated, despair comes easily. The Holy Father gave us all a clear exhortation to embrace joy when we give witness to the gospel in our lives. To share the gospel message we need to be givers of joy. Pope Francis went on to say: May the forthcoming Holy Year of Mercy, by drawing us into the fathomless depths of God s heart in which no division dwells, be for all of you a privileged moment for strengthening communion, perfecting unity, reconciling differences, forgiving one another and healing every rift, that your light may shine forth like a city built on a hill. (Mt. 5:14) Of many things Oops! The rectory door bell isn t working! And there are only 3 telephones working. Please bear with us as we try to get things put back in working order! Please join us for the Michael O Brien concert on Friday, November 13th, at 6:00 pm in the church. Please join us for a discussion of Pope Francis encyclical: Laudato Si beginning on Thursday, November 19th at 7:00 pm in the lower church hall. Joy and peace, Msgr.

Flournoy Ticket price: $30 Refreshments will be served during intermission and is included in the price of the ticket. Another way to support the event, is to purchase an ad or sponsorship for the program book. Tickets, ads and sponsorships can be purchased at the rectory or after all the masses. For more information, please call the rectory Lord God, most holy, we approach you in gratitude for your holy ordained priesthood. You have called these men to be set apart and to shepherd your people, as you shepherd your entire church. We pray for them in their daily work. Grant to them an increase in spiritual gifts and grace, so they may be prepared for the tasks at hand. Lead them not into temptation and protect them from the grasp of the evil one. It is through the sacraments they confer that we encounter the divine in a real and profound way. May your church never lose sight of these, your special sons, and may we, the body of Christ, never fail to cherish the gift of their lives, which they have freely given to you and your holy church. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son. Amen.
