7 2014 SEASON PREVIEW Baltimore, Md. -- The Notre Dame of Maryland University tennis team eyes improvement this season after returning the majority of their team from last year. Returners Liz Tran (Clarksville, Md.), Carrie Naylor (Elkridge, Md./Mount de Sales), Natalie Smith (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma), Kaitlyn Sommer (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) and Zanobia Jones (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) return to the squad and look to build on the experiences they made from last year. Natalie Smith returns for her second season,, looking to improve on her successive rookie season. Newcomers Catherine Bruzdzinski (Essex, Md./ Baltimore Lutheran), Morgan Harter (Aberdeen, Md.) and Kyana Roussell (Sandy Springs, Ga./ Riverwood International) all look to make an immediate impact in their rookie season. Tran will open the season moving up to the No. 1 Singles spot with Naylor also moving up to No. 2 singles. Smith will move up to No. 3 Singles after leading the squad in single victories at the No. 5 Singles spot last season. Sommer moves to the No. 4 spot after earning valuable experience in her first year. Jones will join Bruzdzinski, Harter and Roussell in competing for the No. 5 and 6 Singles positions. In doubles action, Naylor and Smith pair up to take the No. 1 Doubles spot. Tran and Sommer will partner for the No. 2 position with Harter and Jones or Bruzdzinski compete for the No. 3 Doubles position. Notre Dame begins the season Saturday, September 6 by traveling to Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Baptist Bible College and will look for their third straight victory over the Defenders. The team begins their home schedule on Sunday, September 7 by hosting CSAC rival Keystone College. Elizabeth Tran enters her sophomore season by moving up to the No. 1 singles spot after spending all last year at No. 2.

11 FACILITIES The Notre Dame Tennis Courts were resurfaced in May 2014 and serve as the home for Notre Dame s tennis team. The four courts also serve as a site for Loyola University s men and women s tennis matches while David Mast s Tennis Academy is also hosted here. DID YOU KNOW? Carrie Naylor moves up to the No. 2 Singles position after gaining experience last year at No. 3 Singles. Officially opened in May 2014 and named after Board of Trustees Member Ed Civera, the Civera Fitness Center features brand new equipment, including treadmills, elliptical machines, exercise bikes, spin bikes, and new weightlifting areas. The new fitness center is more than three times larger than the previous fitness center.
