The College is recognised as an accredited institution by the International Interior Design Association (see FÁS Tralee Training Centre Monavalley, Tralee Tel: , fastralee@sw.fas.ie Interior Design Night class commencing in September 2007 for 10 weeks. This course is designed to introduce people with little or no previous knowledge/experience of interior design, to the basics of interior design and decoration. It is aimed towards people wishing to learn how to apply the basic principles in the design and decoration of their own homes, and also the person who may be thinking of embarking on the first step to a career in interior design. This course should also be considered as an introduction to the six-month fulltime day course run FAS in the Finglas Training Centre. Institute of Technology, Tralee Tel: ; fax: ; lifelonglearning@ittralee.ie website: Diploma in Interior Design (Limperts Academy) A 30-week course on Thursdays from 7 pm to 9.30 pm from 27th September The Limperts Academy course is aimed at preparing the interior design students to work in the domestic market. It explores all the key aspects of interior design so that students will obtain a firm understanding of the fundamentals of design, and will be prepared to work in the industry. Assignments completed during the course will form a protfolio for students to shwo to employers and potential clients. At least nine additional hours of research and study are required each week. The course is made up of six modules: colour; style and design; surface finishes; curtains, blinds and soft furnishings; lighting; and professional. 3 BTEC Higher National Diploma in Interior Design and Interior Architecture A 30-week course on Wednesday evenings 6.30 to 9.00 pm, commencing on 26th September This BTEC and Limperts Academy course is aimed at those who have experience in Interior Design. The course is intensive and challenging and aims to prepare graduates to work with all the structured elements that define interior space. Students must have previous draughting/technical drawing experience or the :Limpert Academy s Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration. At least ten additional hours of research and study are required per week. This course is designed as an introduction to the area of domestic decoration and finishes. It offers the student an opportunity to develop their creative and design skills. The course outline includes architectural drawing, design, materials and finishes, combined materials, CAD, painting & decorating, communications, work experience. 4 Diploma in Interior Design A two-year full-time course. The Diploma is awarded by the University of Wales on the basis of examination and coursework assessment. Students will also sit appropriate FETAC examinations. Modules include design theory, colour theory, history of design, computer aided design, draughtsmanship, construction, materials, textiles, furniture & fittings, internet & . Holders of an Honours Diploma may have the option of transferring to the University of Wales (Cardiff) for a Degree in Interior Architecture or to apply for entry to courses in Design, Film and Media in some Institutes of Technology.
