1 Tool Registration and Software Authorization Tool Registration Note: All screen displays shown in this document are examples only. Your display will vary from these. A one-time registration is required at the initial start up of a new scan tool or software update. Registration can be by-passed and the tool operated in demo mode, however, the registration screen will come up every time the tool is powered on until registration is completed. to send information by fax to (USA) You will receive an authorization code by telephone or 5. An Update Check screen appears. For certain scan tools, a Security Card is supplied with a security code printed on it for each software application purchased. Use this code and the scan tool serial number (from the Update Check screen) to obtain an authorization code for the software application by internet, fax, or telephone. Enter that authorization code into the scan tool to authorize your software application. Connect a PC to the internet web site select Check For Updates, and follow the instructions provided. If it finds software update(s) are available, record the authorization code(s) provided. Note: If internet access is not possible, an 2 1. Repeat this procedure for each application you need to authorize.

Use the Up and Down Direction (arrow) keys to select a letter of the alphabet or a number from 0 to 9. b. Press the Right Direction key to move to the next box. If needed, use the Left Direction key to move backwards. c. Repeat a and b until the code is entered. Note: To optionally clear all the boxes, press the Clear function key. Note: To optionally use the keyboard, press the keyboard function key and use the following steps. Use the keyboard as follows: Use the Direction keys to select a letter or number and press the ENTER key to move to the next box. To move backward, go to 0 and press the Left Direction key to get to the BS (backspace) key. To optionally clear all the boxes, press the Clear function key. To optionally return to the normal display, press the No Keyboard function key. 3
