1 Clover College is THE perfect chance for you to meet awesome new people, make cool arts and crafts, learn something new, and see all the possibilities 4-H has to offer! This years Clover College will be held on October 17th at Whitehall Elementary School There will be no cost for general registration. You can attend from 1-3 sessions (additional fees may apply) during the day and learn about a whole bunch of really awesome (and useful) stuff! The event will last from 9am until 3pm and include three sessions Session One: 9-10:30am Session Two: 10:40am-12:10pm Lunch: 12:10-12:50pm Whole Group Project 12:50-1:20pm Session Three: 1:20-2:50pm Plan to attend one session or spend the day. Bring along a friend! Community members (non 4-H members) are ABSOLUTELY welcome to attend! Most sessions are open to members, leaders, and parents but may be geared towards different ages based on the subject being taught. Take a look over the next few pages and choose which workshops or programs sound like a blast and fill out the sign up sheet with your top choices. Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis so sign up early! 2 9:00am 10:30am Introduction to Broadcasting Instructor: John Kelly Grades: 5 th grade and up Class Size: 6 Fee: none We all have favorite T.V. shows and enjoy the evening news; but how does it all work? Learn the basics behind broadcast; operate a studio cameral or try giving a weather forecast. Basic shot composition will be covered. Learn a simple rule to make your pictures and videos look better! Location: Meet in front of elevator on 1st floor of courthouse (youth must get to courthouse). Fall into 4H Grades: cloverbuds and explorers ages (K-2) Fee: $5.00/person Come join the Clover Club! We will learn who it takes to run your 4H club! Parents are welcome to join their child with this learning experience! We will be building a craft based on a successful 4-H Club! New Club Officer Orientation Instructor: Adam Trunzo UW-EX Educator Grades: All new leaders Any new or existing club officers or potential club leaders are invited to join us in getting to know the various officer duties as well as brushing up on parliamentary procedure and how to have FUN at meetings. We will be playing games, hitting things with gavels and generally having a wacky and fun time seeing what all you can do at your 4-H meetings! Arts and Crafts Bonanza! Grades: Any Class Size: 10 This is a free for all arts and crafts zone! There will be multiple craft projects available for participants to try out. Let your imagination run wild as we explore our artistic side with this workshop! Project Animal Workshop Instructor: Steve Okonek UW-EX Ag Educator Grades: 3rd and Up Have you ever wanted to show animals at the fair or would you like to improve your skills from last year? We will be discussing choosing a project animal and covering all the bases from what materials you need to how to name your cow/chicken/llama/ etc. This will include pen size, feed and water consumption at various ages, and how to plan ahead so you get the best animal possible! We will be making a 12 x 14 inch tote bag. Perfect for carrying your books, 4-H projects, groceries or pet rocks! (Participants must know how to thread their own sewing machine or have a parent available to help with their machine because every machine is different. This project will require a sewing machine, thread and basic sewing tools. Project materials will be supplied.) Halloween Aluminum Tooling Instructor: Sue Byom Grades:2nd grade and Up Fee:$3.00/child. Aluminum tooling is when you take a flat piece of aluminum and draw a design on it. Then you push from the back to make part of the design stick out slightly and push from the front to make some parts look like they are further back. This creates a low relief. We will add color with permanent sharpie markers. You don t need to bring anything but your smiling selves! Instructor: Megan Wall DNR Water Guard Grades: 4th-9th Species, how they can help prevent their spread, and could be inspired to do a 4-H project in the future about. Come, learn, and have fun with a DNR expert!

Introduction to Yoga Instructor: Amanda Hegge Grades:3-5 Yoga is an exercise that focuses on strength and flexibility. It is also a way to practice the beginnings of meditation. In this class we will focus on beginning yoga poses, a little bit of meditation, and play of course too! Clothing that you can move comfortably in is recommended. 4-H Volunteer Orientation Instructor: Adam Trunzo UW-EX Educator Grades: All new or potential 4-H volunteers In this workshop you will be able to learn more about 4-H and your role as a volunteer, how to work with youth through 4-H, and safe practices for 4-H youth and volunteers. This course is required for any new 4-H volunteer and will cover all mandatory trainings as well as some fun, interesting and helpful information to help you succeed as a 4-H volunteer. You will be asked to fill out a Volunteer Application and a Leader Enrollment form. Cupcake Decorations! Instructor: Sweet Temptations! Class size: None Fee: $1.00 per person Come learn how to decorate a cupcake from the experts at Sweet Temptations. There will be a demonstration and then hands on decorating! Arts and Crafts Bonanza! Improv and Leadership Instructor: Catherine Emmanuelle Grades: 6th and Up Class Size: 12 Join us as we explore concepts found in improvisational theater that can help us in building our personal leadership. Is that even possible? Yes, and* here is a short list of ways improv applies to leadership: supporting, listening, and engaging people, knowing how to think on your feet, creativity, and having fun! No previous experience required. Join us ~ who knows, maybe you ll be the next Jimmy Fallon or Amy Poehler! 4 Flower Arranging 1:20pm-2:50pm Instructor: Linda from Linda s Flowers in Whitehall Grades: K & up Class Size: 10 Fee: $4 Express your creativity in combining colors, forms and texture of plant materials into pleasing arrangements. Learn the basics of floral design and the difference between bouquets and arrangements. Please bring along a scissors, flower vase with an opening at least 2 inches across and $4 for fresh flowers. Charter Paperwork Workshop Instructor: Adam Trunzo UW-EX Educator Grades: Anyone interested in chartering a club This workshop is the perfect opportunity to get your clubs charter paperwork in order for the year or to charter a new club. We will allow members to share best practices and have staff available to answer ant questions (Please bring your clubs documents to fill out the charter. (Participants must know how to thread their own sewing machine or have a parent available to help with their machine because every machine is different. This project will require a sewing machine, thread and basic sewing tools. Project materials will be supplied.) Food Preservation: Apple Shnapple! Instructor: Catherine Emmanuelle Grades: 5th and Up Class Size:10 Fee: $2 per person Join us as we DIY together to make Sweet Apple Cider Butter. Learn simple canning and freezing techniques to savor the flavors of Fall. A great way to preserve the local food bounty to be enjoyed for your family s fall and winter meals and treats! Instructor: Megan Wall DNR Water Guard Grades: K 6th Grades: all new parents/youth A sit and talk/learning session.
