1 Nan HU University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Accounting and Finance (715) hun@uwecedu BIO Nan HU is an Assistant Professor of Accounting & Finance at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire He is also an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at Singapore Management University He received his PhD from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2004 under the supervision of Rajv Banker, an internationally recognized leader in interdisciplinary research in management and one of the only 243 most highly cited researchers in economics and business worldwide that have made fundamental contributions to the advancement of science and technology Nan s research focuses on investigating the value implications and market efficiency of both traditional information (eg company financial report, analyst forecast, corporate governance, etc) and non-traditional information (eg blog opinion, online consumer reviews, etc), using a combination of theories from accounting, finance, marketing, information economics, sociology, psychology, and computer science Nan s research has /is going to appear(ed) at JMIS (Journal of Management Information Systems), CACM (Communications of the ACM), DSS (Decision Support Systems), JCS (Journal of Computer Security), and IT&M (Information Technology and Management) His research has been well recognized by academy and industry players For example, his study about the quality of online review has been widely cited by researchers from marketing science, information systems, and computer science and has been inquired by Amazoncom and referred by various websites and online bloggers His CIO research has been featured by CIO magazine And in 2009 his CIO compensation study won the distinguished paper awards from the Society for the Advancement of Information Systems Nan also has over 14 years of rich risk management and consumer behavior mining experiences He worked as a senior analyst for a fortune 200 company and has built various behavior models, including but not limited to risk, response, charge-off, utilization models based on large scale dataset Nan has also been actively working as an entrepreneur Nan was the executive vice president and chairman of the board of a US public listed firm and is the CEO of an image-based ads start-up
