Undergraduate: Students must be American citizen, plan to pursue a nursing career, financial need, graduate from small rural high school (preferably in AZ), from a large family (5 or more children), have a cum. GPA of 2.5 or better. Undergraduate: Must be academically qualified and demonstrate financial need. Nominated by the College of Nursing subject to the Graduate: Must be focusing on community based health promotion (as opposed to disease specific) research. Not based on financial need or academic achievement, but should assist a student in good standing who demonstrates a commitment to advancing nursing science. Gunder Donor: an endowment by the estate of Mrs. Janet H. Gunder Graduate: Funds to support doctoral student s dissertation research in the area of oncology nursing research or self care research. Preference shall be shown to a student who is a single parent striving to obtain a degree in order to better support the family and who might not otherwise have this opportunity without financial assistance.

7 HABBJACH (Dollars for Scholars) Nursing Donor: The HABBJACH Organization is composed of Tucson men and women who, besides contributing to the Dollars for Scholars Fund themselves, solicit funds from personal and corporate Donors. James and Molly Hambacher Endowed Program in Nursing Donor: a generous gift from James and Molly Hambacher. Harry Heller Memorial Endowment Donor: an endowment established at the University of Arizona Foundation by Harry Heller. Hodnette Endowment Donor: an endowment established through a generous bequest from Marie Hodnette Hoch, a 1932 University of Arizona alumna who dedicated her life to nursing care. Undergraduate: Graduates of Tucson area high schools, with a GPA of 3.0 or above and demonstrating financial need (as identified by UA Office of Financial Aid). Students must also write a word personal statement, in which they address any work experience, leadership, school community activities, as well as any services or awards. They need to be applying for the program at the University of Arizona College of Nursing. Students apply online at: Minimum GPA of 3.0, the candidate must be either eligible for enrollment or already dully enrolled in College of Nursing. Outstanding nursing student, named by Dean of College of Nursing and subject to the approval of Office of Student Financial Aid. Outstanding students in the College of Nursing who maintain a 2.5 GPA. Recipients shall be selected by the Dean of the College of Nursing, subject to the approval of the Office of Student Preference given to upper division undergraduates and graduate level students.

Nursing students who wish to pursue a career in fields of Hospice, Palliative Care and Home Care. Graduate: Provide financial support to a nursing student who is in the data collecting/dissertation phase of his/her PhD program. The award may be used to fund any costs necessary to conduct his/her research or be used for tuition and fees. Financial need may be considered but not necessary. Nursing students who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of Oncology will have first preference for this award. Preference shall be given to single parents.

Graduate student recipients are selected by the Dean's office on the basis of academic proficiency and future promise in the field of geriatric nursing. Graduate: Graduate student studying in the field of Geriatric Nursing. Named by Dean of College of Nursing and subject to the approval of Office of Student Financial Aid. Undergraduate: To support undergraduate students in the College of Nursing. Selected by the Dean of College of Nursing. To help alleviate the nursing crisis in Arizona by providing scholarships for the next generation of nurses who will be caring for Arizonans. (Entry Programs) Financial need, while being a consideration, is not an absolute necessary criterion. Eligible students are those whose research proposal has been recommended to the Dean by the College s Research Committee. Money may be awarded for faculty research at the Dean s discretion.

Named by Dean of College of Nursing and subject to the Preference should be given to students with high academic excellence or financial need.

12 Beverly McCord Doctoral Fellowship Donor: Gifts from friends, former students and colleagues of Dr. Beverly McCord, former Associate Dean of the College of Nursing for Graduate Programs. Fred C. McCormick Memorial Donor: Family and friends of the late Fred C. McCormick, Professor of English at the University of Arizona ( ) and managing editor of the Arizona Quarterly for many years. This was established out of gratitude for the health care he received during his last years. Graduate: Outstanding doctoral nursing candidates as selected by a special committee. Recipients must have completed two semesters of Doctoral course work and have been registered at the UA for the past two years. Threefourths of the sum total of fellowships awarded in any given year should be awarded to US citizens, the remaining one fourth may be awarded at the discretion of the committee. Upper division student, in the College of Nursing that are a minority. Candidate must have record of superior academic achievement. Selected by the Office of Student Financial Aid upon consultation with the College of Nursing. Preference: male student.

The scholarship will not be awarded to the same student for more than three years. The Gamma Phi Beta Committee will review applicants and submit the name of the student selected to the Office of Development to award. If no candidates are forwarded for two years, the third year the Dean of the College of Nursing may designate the scholarship recipient.
