2 A rare example of a contemporary traveling circus with Italian roots La Repubblica In 2011 the "El Grito" contemporary circus company founded by Fabiana Ruiz Diaz and Giacomo Costantini was joined by Gaetano Costantini and Domenico de Vita. The four took a decision that would change their lives: launch a new circus that would reflect their own human and artistic values. In March 2011 the "Circo El Grito" came to life. With no guarantees and no outside funding but driven by a desire to realize the dream of their own free and itinerant space, they had a big top made where, in less than three years across Europe, they've staged more than 320 shows and hosted more than 50,000 spectators. Sensitive to the issues of environmental sustainability, the "Circo El Grito", thanks to a collaboration with AzzeroCO2, is the world's first Eco-Circus with zero CO2 emissions.

Lo spettacolo ha ottenuto un grande successo in Europa e in tre stagioni estive è stato rappresentato più di 180 volte tra Italia, Belgio, Francia, Austria e Germania. Grazie alla versatilità dello spettacolo, è stata creata una versione sala e una versione chapiteau dell opera. Un viaggio sorprendentemente originale, un' esperienza sensoriale unica dove perdersi in un componimento sinfonico di acrobazie, giocolerie e musiche! 4 The "El Grito" theatre - circus goes beyond the aesthetics of pure acrobatics in order to go deeper, playing on the parallel chords of amazement and thought" Il Giornale di Vicenza THE EL GRITO COMPANY The origins of the company Fabiana and Giacomo met in 2006 during a gala of Italian circuses. The meeting changed their lives. Within a few weeks they left together for South America. In that period, together with personal affinities, they discovered they shared artistic and human values that found voice in a desire to create their own contemporary circus. They returned to Europe in search of a space that could host their project to found a company and, after exploring Rome and Berlin, they moved to Brussels, where they were welcomed by Espace Catastrophe (an international reference point for contemporary circus) which supported their first show, Scratch & Stretch. Thanks to the show's success, their company quickly became part of the European professional circuit. "El Grito" won wide-ranging cultural and artistic recognition and found backing for "20 Decibel", a show produced for theatre that premiered at the 2010 Pistes de Lancement" International Circus Biennial in Brussels.

5 A poetic language that marks a new direction for contem porary circus. La Nazione CIRCO EL GRITO In 2011 the company was joined by Gaetano Costantini, Giacomo's brother, and Domenico De Vita, a sound and light technician met years earlier during a show in Moscow. Driven by the need to find an independent itinerant cultural space led to the birth of "El Grito", a big top 'chapiteau' tailor-made to produce and stage contemporary circus performances such as "Drums and Circus", the company's new show created during the 2013 tournée. From its birth until today "El Grito" has taken contemporary circus across Europe, staging more than 500 shows in theaters, street locations and the big top itself. Alongside its circus activities, the company continues to perform its shows in theaters and street locations across Europe. Thanks to its universal characteristic, the Circo El Grito has been a guest in a range of artistic contexts: from the "Pistes de Lancement" International Circus Biennial in Brussels to the "Maggio all'infanzia" theatre review in the Kismet Opera Theatre in Bari, the "Fusion" music festival in Germany and the Street Artists' Festival in Pennabilli.

6 SPECIAL PROJECTS Since 2011 the "Circo El Grito and its big top have participated in festivals for street artists, circuses, music, theatre and dance, producing its shows independently but in direct contact with local institutions, while also collaborating with other associations in the creation of artistic/cultural events. In 2011 and 2012 it collaborated with La Citè (Florence, Italy) in organizing Cirk Fantastik, handling the programming and logistics of the entire Street Artists' and Contemporary circus festival. In 2012 "El Grito" installed its big top at the "Festival UP!" International Circus Biennial in Brussels, Belgium, thus becoming one of the official site at the event, presentino its own shows as well as hosting others. In 2014, as well as participating in the festival with the official debut of its show, "Drums and Circus", it will close the biennial by programming and organizing an "El Grito Open House" week, during which it will present all its shows and celebrate its third year as an active circus. Since 2012 the "Circo El Grito" has been part of organizing the "Summer Circus" in Bolzano, Italy, curating and hosting the artistic programme in its big top throughout the month of August. Three years have passed since "El Grito" first took its trucks across the Alps and installed its big top at the "Fusion Festival" in Larz, Germany, the largest music festival in Germany and one of the largest in Europe. As well as presenting its own new productions, "El Grito" invites other companies to the festival and hosts them in its big top. In 2013, together with Rome's Auditorium Parco della Musica, the Circo El Grito" organized the "ECCI! El Grito Christmas Circus" festival, the first Italian contemporary circus festival where it was not only in charge of the artistic programme but also its author. The festival ran from 6 December 2013 to 6 January 2014.

7 THE EL GRITO CHAPITEAU The "El Grito" big top was constructed in March 2011 and conforms with all current Italian and European regulations, from its electric system to its tiered seating and all other essential materials, including all documentation required to carry out its activities. In addition, the "Circo El Grito" is able to handle all bureaucratic aspects, supplying specific consultancy and/or interfacing directly with local administrations. The diameter of its big top is 18 metros, with a covered surface of 254 square metros. Erection of the big top requires a minimum flat area measuring 28 metros by 28 metros.
