3 Preparatory Events to the Forum 2010 Fondazione Mediterraneo, Head Of The ALF Italian Network, organized several events to promote the ALF Forum 2010: Listed below are the most relevant: Conference Strengthening of dialogue between West and Muslim World, Rome 21st October th 13 Euromed Convention From Land to Sea, Istanbul, 23rd October Conference Union for the Mediterranean a year later, Naples, 6 th November rd 3 Edition of the Forum of Fès on the Alliance of civilizations and cultures on Media and Communication: Bets and Challenges of the III Millennium, Fès, November A Mediterranean Night, Santa Maria di Castellabate, 27th December 2009 Third Meeting of the Project Learning Arabic, Leiden, January Conference Gaeta and its centrality in the Mediterranean, Rome, 22 nd January Conference The Mezzogiorno in the Mediterranean with and for Europe, Naples, 26th January Workshop Intercultural research and changing process: methods, resources and critic areas, Naples, 5-6 February International Conference Dialogue among Cultures in the Central Mediterranean The role of Italy and the Balkans, Naples, February This event has been organized in partnership with the Heads of National Networks of Albania, Bosnia, Slovenia and Romania and produced a programme of common actions, illustrated in the final document. 4 Conclusioni della riunione dei Capofila delle Reti Nazionali di Albania, Bosnia, Italia, Romania e Slovenia (Napoli, ) Agreement among the Anna Lindh Foundation Heads of Networks of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Romania and Slovenia. Introduction 1. Fondazione Mediterraneo, Head of the Italian Anna Lindh Foundation (Alf) Network, has worked since its foundation, in 1994, on solidarity and partnership actions with the Countries of the Balkan Region. 2. According to the decisions of the Euro Mediterranean Conference held in Dublin (May 2004) which assigned the Italian Alf Network a special role to implement and develop the Alf and its networks Fondazione Mediterraneo committed itself since the birth of the Alf to make available its networking and partnership system, its structures and seats in the different Countries. 3. During the 8 th Meeting of the Alf Heads of Networks in Gothenburg in November 2009, an informal meeting took place among the Heads of Network of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croa tia, Italy, Montenegro, Romania and Slovenia. 4. The Heads of Networks agreed upon organising an operational meeting in Naples with the aim to realise common actions. 5. By initiative of Fondazione Mediterraneo, on the 12 th and 13 th of February 2010, the Heads of Networks of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Romania and Slovenia met in Naples. 6. On that occasion Fondazione Mediterraneo organised a Conference about The Dialogue among Cultures in the Central Mediterranean during which the Italian Members of the Alf and the Heads of Networks mentioned above met to discuss how to organise and promote common projects and actions. 428 Rete Italiana Italian Network

During the two days of work, some meetings took place among the Members of the Italian Alf Network, representatives of various institutions and the Heads of Networks of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Romania and Slovenia. Among the others there were: Prof. Gianluca Sadun Bordoni (University of Teramo) who showed the Medadrion Project, which aims at creating a Network of Universities from Italy and the Balkans Dr. Giovanni Agresti, who presented the Lem-Italia Association and its projects Min. Cosimo Risi, Diplomatic Counsellor of Campania Region Prof. Nullo Minissi, former Rector of L Orientale University, expert about Balkans Prof. Caterina Arcidiacono, vicepresident of Fondazione Mediterraneo Giovanni Farace from Associazione Leucosia (a project concerning the myth) Dr. Luigi De Luca from Istituto di Culture Mediterranee della Provincia di Lecce (programme on migrations) Dr. Valeria Puccini and Dr. Maria Ciavarella from the University of Foggia (intercultural programme) Hon. Enzo Rivellini, representative of the European Parliament, who expressed his availability to support the Alf Activities Mario Violini, Director of Napoli Film Festival Dr. Antonio Altiero from I.P.S.C. (a project concerning the Voluntary Service) Dr. Antonia Gualtieri, responsible for social policies, migrations and voluntary service in Campania Region Dr. Leonzio Borea, Director of the National Voluntary Service, representative of the Italian Government. Agrement: 1. Fondazione Mediterraneo, through its networks will make available some spaces during the two events that it has co organised since 1996 the Trieste Film Festival and the Napoli Film Festival with a specific section dedicated to the Dialogue among Cultures, directly lead by the Heads of Networks of Albania, Rete Italiana Italian Network 429

6 Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Slovenia. At the same time as to Napoli Film Festival the Jury of the whole Festival, which is composed only by young people from Campania Region, will also include young people (20-35) from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and Slovenia. Istituto di Culture del Mediterraneo della Provincia di Lecce, ALF Apulia Region Coordinator, is available for actions concerning culture and migrations which will involve Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and Slovenia in agreement with the ALF Heads of Network of these Countries. In particular, we will promote a research on fashion and clothes of the different cultures. How migrations influence fashion, habits, values, etc (Italy Slovenia) (deadline 30 th October 2010) 3. Regione Campania, in collaboration with Fondazione Mediterraneo, I.P.S.C. and Expo Italy, will activate, through the Voluntary Service, projects on different topics. (Slovenia Romania) (March 2011) 4. Actions concerning the Italian Minorities in the Balkans and the Balkans Minorities in Italy (minorities languages (law 482/1999), festivals, cultural weeks) (Italy Bosnia) (deadline 26 th February 2010) (May 2010) 5. In collaboration with ALF, the Italian Network and the Networks of the Balkans will propose a common action on nomad cultures and Roma (picture exhibitions in all the Countries, an online portal, summer camps) (with Lem-Italia). (Albania Romania) (August September 2010) 6. The International Website of Il Denaro will host the presentation of all these activities (banner and links, etc.). 7. In collaboration with Alf, Fondazione Mediterraneo, the Italian Network and the Networks of the Balkans will propose a seminar on non violent struggle in conflict areas, with Combatants for Peace, Italian Voluntary Service and others.
