We are a small, private training facility offering a personal approach to adult beauty and holistic training. Our staff and tutors are all very friendly and happy to assist you, whether it s to introduce you to the world of health and beauty, or further your existing career. Our lessons have a relaxed, yet highly professional atmosphere. Our flexible, modern teaching methods are designed to keep up with the rapidly expanding holistic and beauty profession. We specialise in teaching short, intensive modular courses to both absolute beginners and qualified therapists adding modules to their CV. We are the perfect, flexible solution for the self-motivated student who does not have the time to attend a rigid and lengthy timetable. Our students can be competent therapists and working in a relatively short period of time and you determine the amount of time it takes! Our beauty therapy courses cover a wide range of holistic and beauty treatments from the more traditional modules such as Aromatherapy Massage, Body Massage and Facial Treatments through to Indian Head Massage, Waxing, Make Up, Lash & Brow Treatments, Eyelash Perming, Manicure/Pedicure, Nail Extensions, Body Tanning and Ear Piercing.

7 T: E: 07 Accredited Courses All courses are available in to level of qualification: NVQ Professional Beauty Direct Accredited courses Having two levels appeals to different learners and gives more options. Accredited courses are insured direct with Professional Beauty and offer a working qualification. The next step up is NVQ, which is the nation-wide, recognised same as an accredited qualification but can be insured with any company. Accredited courses have no additional fees and may appeal to some, as they are more affordable and can be achieved in one to two days. All accredited courses can be topped up at a later date to a NVQ if desired. Discount are also available on multiple bookings of courses please ask for further information.

8 08 T: E: a career in beauty therapy When considering a career in Beauty Therapy it is extremely important to consider the qualifications that are needed in order to become a professional beauty therapist. The Government are putting more emphasis now on vocational education and the importance of gaining a recognised qualification. More than ever before, well trained and well qualified therapists are in demand in the workplace. qualifications insurance We offer Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) qualifications. VTCT issues National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and SVQs along with International Awards and has three subsidiary awarding bodies; International Health and Beauty Council (IHBC), International Institute of Health & Holistic Therapies (IIHHT) and International Institute of Sports Therapy (IIST). VTCT is the major awarding body in the UK for S/NVQs in Beauty Therapy and has been established for over 40 years. Upon successful completion of the course a diploma is awarded entitling the therapist to apply for insurance and membership to any of the following professional bodies:- Professional Beauty Direct The Federation of Holistic Therapists The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists

9 09 equipment The Academy provides most equipment needed such as towels, Dermalogica skin care, make-up, wax pots etc. However the student will need to purchase a kit of equipment which they will bring into college with them each week for their own use. 30 30 Joanna Webb Joanna Webb is an educator and trainer who has her own Professional Beauty Direct accredited beauty academy and Salon, which is based in the exclusive location of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. She has been running her successful business for over 6 years and hopes to expand and open new centres in the near future. She has a wide experience working in salons and health spas, and as a part-time journalist, writing a monthly column for Vitality, the BABTAC member s magazine, Scratch and Professional Beauty. Throughout Joanna s career she has also works a session nail technician working on celebrities, journalists, at London Fashion Week and advertising campaigns for such magazines as Vogue. She spends two days a week in London teaching children with learning and behavioural difficulties in a London school. As well as being a Regional Training Officer for Elixea natural spa and beauty products. In addition this year Joanna is talking at a seminar at UK beauty in Birmingham on natural therapies. She believes education and furthering your career is very important in keep up to date with this fast expanding industry.
