High School Diploma PhD Quantum Optical Analogies in Waveguide-based Optical Structures Stefano Longhi The formal analogy between an electric field that propagates in a curved waveguide system in the scalar and paraxial approximations with the Schrödinger equation for a particle driven by an external field is exploited to analyze and visualize the coherent dynamics of some quantum systems (i.e. dynamics of collapses and revivals of the wavefunction, quantum Zeno dynamics and coherent phenomena in two-level and many-level systems). Master thesis Attosecond Pulse Generation with the Polarization Gating Technique Mauro Nisoli The thesis discusses the generation of attosecond pulses with the polarization gating technique. This technique is used to generate a 130 as-pulse that is then characterized by means of a Frequency Resolved Optical Gating (FROG) technique.
