4 director's statement: I was a curious kid, constantly asking questions. One of my favorite childhood memories is when I marched into my parents bedroom and demanded for my father to explain how people in movies were able to pretend hurting each other without doing so. Suddenly, he grabbed our video camera and a bottle of ketchup, then demanded I follow him to the backyard. We spent hours that day, going through every motion of you pretend to hit me, then I ll pause the camera, add ketchup, and press record again. We made our first movie, with visual effects and all. My passion for film began from tomato sauce before expanding to Lego stop motion and even guerilla style filmmaking taking the video camera without permission. Now, telling stories and watching them come to life, is the only thing I can imagine myself doing. It is truly a rewarding experience to watch people believe and assist in the creation of your vision. It is magical to see these people work together and breathe, little by little your script into life. Securing a career in film will certainly be a difficult journey, but it was love at first sight. When my father told me the story that inspired GALEANA No. 8, I felt a combination of both panic and excitement. It was a story so unbelievable, it had to be captured on film; I had found my next project. Galeana had to be shot where the real events took place- Mexico City. I was excited to shoot in the place I call home, even though others discouraged it, and I hadn t the slightest idea of how to produce a project of this magnitude. The thought of it made me so nervous. It was fantastic. It s mysterious how such a perfect cast and crew was developed. Shortly after I began scouting for assistance, I found myself surrounded by all the right people. The pieces had fallen in just the right places. I was privileged to work with such amazing, and talented people. Not only because of the impressive skills they possessed but for the unforgettable impression they left with me. It is great to remember this is one of the reasons why I love film so much. I must acknowledge the actors, because I owe so much of what Galeana is now to them. The life brought into each character was awe inspiring, and I deeply thank them for trusting my advice. A rush of adrenaline runs through my body when I think about the future. I m determined to live out my passion and share more stories with you.

5 about the crew: D AV I D GUTI ROSADO producer David 'Guti' Rosado, American born and raised in Mexico City, has a heart split in two. One part of it admires the American practicality and the other is enamored with Mexican romanticism. Approached by close friend and Director, Andrés Pérez-Duarte, he was recruited as a Producer for 'Galeana 8'; which from the first draft the script promised a cinematic balance of the American suspense mixed with tint of Mexican irony; thus making the project an ideal story to produce. As he graduates with a BFA in Film & Television from the Savannah College of Arts and Design this spring of 2011, he continues to work in the realm of freelance as a Director and Producer; expecting to once again work alongside the fantastic team that created Galeana 8 in the near future. SEBAStian CELIS producer Sebastián Celis graduated in Physics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) after winning National Science Olympiads. He worked in commerce during his later studies and then made a professional switch into film production. He is partner of the independent producing company Pimienta Films since He has participated in the production of short films (Caminos, CCC, 2011), long films (The Broken Tower, Made in Film-Land, 2010), TV series (Los Minondo, CONACULTA, 2010) and TV commercials (Promotionals Lucho en Familia, Corazón Films, 2011). He has produced short films (Hoy en día, Pimienta Films, 2011) and TV series (Vida Mamá, Casa Club TV, 2011) WILFREDO J. RAMOS cinematographer Wilfredo Javier Ramos was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he attended the University of Puerto Rico and obtained a Bachelor s degree in Finance. His incursion to filmmaking was rather accidental. Upon graduation, he landed a job at Ai-Ris Communications, Inc., a San Juan based production company where he worked on industrial videos and television spots for renown clients such as: Bacardí of Puerto Rico, LOREAL and EURO RSCG, First Medical Puerto Rico. Wilfredo immediately fell in love with the creative process that surrounds audio-visual productions. In 2007 he left the company to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). While attending SCAD he quickly developed a passion for cinematography and directing working on over a dozen short films and music videos as a director of photography. He currently works as a freelancer in Boston, Massachusetts. VicTOR leycegui production designer Having studied social communications, He quickly developed a keen interest in film participating in social communication workshops in his university UAM-X. Victor has had a myriad experiences going from student projects, to academic documentaries, advertising and commercial work. He has worked in a myriad of shorts and feature film sets. His most recent work TV series El Sabor de los Oficios, produced by FOX Latin America. He s had experience as a production coordinator and art director in more than fifty TV commercials.
