The program has been designed to tie knowledge and experience together. You will develop the ability to review, consolidate, extend and apply the knowledge and skills learnt in order to create innovative fashion designs and garments while meeting production requirements. Subjects are organised into five strands of study: screen industry, production design, production techniques, writing for the screen and business. This program provides you with sophisticated knowledge, skills and abilities to produce advanced creative works, and equips you to find work in the constantly changing media industries. Designed to tie knowledge and experience together, this program will provide you with a depth of knowledge in regard to the media industry, aspects of law and ethics in media, emerging media, and sport in the media. In addition, you will cover a range of journalism skills including TV and investigative journalism. A strong focus on communications will equip you to integrate and apply a variety of communication tools to the sporting industry. You will develop the ability to review, consolidate, extend and apply the knowledge and skills learnt in order to work effectively and meet the requirements of your future work environment. BUILD YOUR IDEAS FROM THE GROUND UP...LIKE MICHAEL who studied the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics After completing high school, Michael was unsure what career path he wanted to take. His family already owned a successful concreting company, which he worked at full time before enrolling in the Diploma of Building and Construction part time. He chose Holmesglen because of the flexible learning hours that it offered and the great reputation it has in the construction industry. Michael soon realised that this was the career path he wanted to take and used the diploma as a pathway in to the Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics at Holmesglen. He has enjoyed the problem based learning approach that the course provides, It gives a simulated environment, so that we can see what the work force would be like. Holmesglen has also helped Michael develop relationships with professionals in the industry because many of his lecturers and tutors work in construction management. These connections have provided me with the structure to further plan and develop my career. After completing his degree, Michael is looking forward to starting his a career with a new perception of the building and construction industry.

Accountants are in demand not only in the financial services sector but also in retail, manufacturing, construction, education, health, sport and recreation in fact in any business which involves financial transactions with its customers/clients. This program is structured so you may be progressively recognised for the level of qualification completed. You have the opportunity to conclude your studies at various points in the program. Completion of the Diploma of Accounting will entitle you to receive an exemption for up to eight subjects from the Bachelor program. If you have achieved the Advanced Diploma of Accounting you may subsequently apply for exemptions for up to a further four subjects, achieving a possible total of 12 subjects for exemption. 17

MAKE OTHERS LOVE IT TOO...LIKE GIFFY who studied the Bachelor of Business (Marketing Management) Giffy always knew she wanted to work in the marketing industry because of her love for socialising and organising events. After completing high school, she enrolled at Holmesglen because of its excellent reputation. I chose Holmesglen because it was very well known and I wanted to see what it was like. After completing my first year, I knew I had to stay, the teachers were great, I had made lots of friends and I loved the recreation activities. Giffy enjoyed the fact that her program offered her the opportunity to undertake a variety of work placements so she could gain experience in the industry. She also liked the flexible timetable that was offered to her throughout her studies. After graduating Giffy hopes to find employment as marketing manager or event organiser so she can put all the skills she has learnt at Holmesglen to work.

The capstone Entrepreneurship and New Venture and the practical placement with an employer exposes students to the need for innovation, to manage change and uncertainty and ensures that a student s work is grounded firmly in practical application. We develop professionals who have valuable skills and knowledge, known for their culturally sensitive client care, safe and ethical clinical reasoning and advanced communication skills. You are prepared for practice through a combination of on campus theory and the latest simulation activities delivered in our state of the art simulation apartments and clinical wards. With a focus on interprofessional learning you will develop valuable skills to operate as part of a healthcare team. Your supported clinical practice will take place in a variety of healthcare settings throughout Victoria. You are exposed to clinical practice early within the program, and the range of clinical placements include; aged care, acute and subacute, community, mental health, paediatric and high dependency nursing. Our industry partnerships ensure the program is responsive to changing industry needs. Fellowship programs are available with our partners, enabling students to develop an ongoing relationship with a health provider. Prior to undertaking clinical placement you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check. Oral health therapists diagnose dental decay and gum diseases. They work in collaboration with dentists to provide oral health care for children and adults, and also help to promote oral health and preventive dental practices among school children and the broader community. The program has a strong focus on health science and its application in the development of clinical skills, with an evidence based approach to learning. You will have authentic learning opportunities during community placements, and alongside comprehensive clinic and simulation exposure, graduates exit with sound preparation to work with other health disciplines as autonomous oral health practitioners. Our staff are dual qualified oral health therapists currently practising in both the public and private health sector ensuring you are receiving current, industry relevant education. 24

As a Holmesglen graduate you will be qualified to become an early childhood teacher and be eligible to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) as a primary school teacher, specialising in the teaching and learning of children from birth to eight years. The degree program is organised into four major streams of study: The Child in Focus; Curriculum, Pedagogy and Learning; Professional Practice; and Practicum (placement in schools and classrooms). Holmesglen places a strong emphasis on the practical application of theory so you are work ready from your first day. Practicum is embedded in all eight semesters of this degree program, with placements in every setting for which you will be qualified to teach, including preschool and primary school. These are organised and supervised by dedicated Holmesglen staff who mentor and support you throughout the program. Our unique degree program prepares you for the challenges and rewards of a professional early childhood teacher. This degree is delivered full time or flexible/part time. Graduates of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent, may be eligible for study credits that allow them to complete the program in a shorter amount of time, subject to meeting prerequisites and entry conditions. 27

The Bachelor of Information Technology is a generalist qualification that encompasses the basics of both network engineering and software development. Throughout the program, you will gain extensive experience in developing information and communications technology to address the needs of modern organisations. Teamwork, project management and communication skills are developed in addition to the exploration of technical aspects of information technology and its uses. The information technology units covered include: basic programming constructs and modern programming environments, networking engineering principles, wireless networking protocols, network security, enterprise web, cloud and mobile technologies and quality management. Final year students will complete a team project, producing and implementing a substantial network or software-based system to address current and emerging needs of local business, government and community organisations. 29

32 FEES View the Schedule of Fees for all degree programs at holmesglen.edu.au/fees STUDENT SERVICES AND AMENITIES FEE AND SA-HELP A non-refundable student services and amenities fee applies to all domestic higher education students. The fee is charged at the time of enrolment and students have the option of paying up-front or, depending on eligibility, deferring payment through a SA-HELP loan. FULL FEE PROGRAMS COMMONWEALTH SUPPORTED PLACE PROGRAMS Full fee programs require up front payment at the time of enrolment. STUDENT PAYMENT PLAN Payment Plan is available to assist with fee payment. Contact the staff in the Information Office for details of eligibility. There is an establishment fee of $50.00 to set up the Payment Plan and an ongoing transaction fee is deducted for the length of the Plan from your nominated account. FEE-HELP FEE-HELP is an income contingent loan scheme available to eligible full fee paying students that assists with the payment of part or all of their student contribution.
