2 Polytechnical Association - your student union at DTU (PF) is the student association at the Technical University of Denmark. It focuses only on fields concerning students and does not have party political connections. The purpose of the association is to secure a good study environment for all students at DTU both academic and social. As a student at DTU you have several possibilities of meeting fellow students and build up a social network. One of the ways of doing this is through the student union, where a lot of voluntary work is performed by students benefitting all who attend the university. Academic Environment PF is active within education policy and social policy both at DTU and in a national/international context. The political work is among other things focused on ensuring the best possible study environment and living conditions for students. As an international student you can participate and have influence in the political activities by attending the meetings of the International committee of PF, which consist of both Danish and international students. If you are interested in joining the International committee you can contact international@pf.dtu.dk Furthermore, as an example, there is the possibility of evaluating courses and the evaluations are then read through by minimum 2 students and the institute director. If a course or teacher is not up to par a solution is attempted found.

3 Social Environment In PF we have several clubs within sports or technical activities, as for instance motorcycling, photography, music, ceramics, cinema and poker. If you are interested in one of these clubs, contact the PF secretariat or check our website for more information. The Student House PF runs the Student house (S-huset) which is located 3 different places. There are two cafés, one in building 101 and one in building 306, where you can buy sandwiches, snacks, beer and sodas. Then there is the Cellar bar, which is open every Tuesday to Friday from 19:00. On Tuesdays the theme is International Evening where you can hang out with international students and Danish students interested in internationality. Wednesday there is generally interesting football matches shown, Thursday is Oh-happy-day and Friday is Friday Rock and Joints. Friday Rock Almost every Friday you can hear live music in the Cellar bar free of charge. These are events with great atmosphere where both Danish and international students can rock out! Joints About four times during the semester, Friday rock is substituted with larger concerts called Joints. Joints are normally held in the Oticon hall with famous artists and room for approximately 1100 people. As a member of PF you will get a discount on the tickets for these concerts.

4 Become a member If you like to become a member of PF you can register at the PF secretariat in building 101E at the first floor for a token amount depending on the extent and period of the membership. Special Offers for PF-members. These special offers include among others: Party (Joints): Discount on tickets to parties and concerts. Study membership of the Danish Society of Engineers, (IDA): Free for members of PF. Through IDA, you can get several discounts that are great for students, as for instance banking and insurance. You can read more about IDA, on their homepage Copying: Copy card can be bought at half price and utilized at the photocopier at the PF office. Book grant that is only available to PF-members: s and Civ.Engineer Thorkild P. Fr. Mogensen og wife Andrea K. M. Mogensens Grant. You participate to secure influence of the students at DTU. Study Rooms: Private study rooms that can be rented for a semester

5 Membership of PF/IDA If you want to enroll for a membership of PF, you have different possibilities: Exchange Students If you are a member of the student union at your home university, you will have free membership of PF in your exchange period. Exchange students cannot become IDA members Master Students Membership of PF/IDA for master students costs d.kr. 150,- equivalent to 20 euros, this payment will ensure your membership for the duration of your studies at DTU. Registration to PF and IDA can happen at the PF secretariat, building 101E, 1 st floor. Opening hours at the secretariat: Mon Tues. Thurs Fri As soon as we have received your application and payment, we will notify IDA. You will hear from IDA during 3-4 weeks. Membership of IDA only If you only wish to enroll with IDA and NOT with PF, you have to pay 200 DKK at admission and a following payment of 50 DKK on a quarterly basis. The Giro in payment form will be send by IDA.

6 Return to PF! I am already a member of PF and wish to continue the membership without additional payment. The membership of PF gives automatically membership to IDA. Application form PF/IDA The undersigned wish to become a member of (PF) and IDA s Studieordning 1. I will pay d.kr. 150,- a non-recurring amount, which cover my membership of PF/IDA until I graduate. The undersigned wish accession in IDA s Studieordning 2, where I do not become a member of. I will pay d.kr. 200,- at admission and further d.kr. 50,- on a quarterly basis. After receiving your student card please approach to the secretary of PF to get a PF-sticker on your card!
