4 SPORTS Student Union sports turns, Spring 2013 The sports services in Joensuu campus, start and end (NOTICE! There are some exceptions!) These sports turns are free of charge and ONLY FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE STUDENT UNION. Keep your student card with you! Monday Kettlebell WHEN: on Mondays at WHERE: Joensuu Areena WHAT DO YOU NEED: Bring your own kettlebell and exercise mat. * For female beginners, a 6 to 8 kilo kettlebell is recommended, for male beginners, an 8 12 kilo kettlebell. If you have previously used a kettlebell or done some other form of muscle training, you may use a heavier kettlebell, however, light kettlebells that weight only a few kilos are largely ineffective. The classes mainly consist of wide movements that utilize the strength of the whole body, so the kettlebell can be heavier than you could comfortably lift up above your head with a single arm. The instructor also recommends getting kettlebells of two different weights so that the lighter one can be used to practice techniques while the heavier one can be used in shorter series of motions. The instructor uses both 8 and 12 kilo kettlebells. The grip of the kettlebell should be smooth, and it should not have any grooves, rough surfaces or other similar features that could cause the handle to chafe the hand. You can find the reservation list in Carelia hall. You can reserve only one turn at a time. Sports turn for international students WHEN: on Fridays at WHAT TO DO: You can decide together what you want to play. Volleyball WHEN: on Fridays at WHERE: Tulliportinkatu school (Normaalikoulu, Tulliportinkatu 1, Joensuu) Floorball WHEN: on Fridays at NOTICE (ALL SPORTS TURNS)!!! You need to have shoes with NO black outsole. You need to put everything to their right places and turn off the lights before you leave. Remember to lock the door! You have to be out of the school at 11pm. No drinking or partying, it is only for sports. Try not to break anything.
