1 Young Enterprise Start-Up National Finals 2015 Budding entrepreneurs from nine schools in Young Enterprise Start-Up Final Some of the country s top young entrepreneurs batted to be named Best Overall Company at the Young Enterprise Start Up UK Final on the 13 th May at the Concorde Conference Centre in Manchester Airport. Nine teams from nine FE colleges and universities were judged on aspects including their trade stand, a 12-minute interview, a 60-second pitch to guests and their investment proposal. Speaking at the event on Wednesday was entrepreneur Jacob Hill who, through the Young Enterprise Start-Up Programme, set up his own business, The Lazy Camper, which offers a camping kit delivery service. On the night, the awards were presented by Jon Rossiter, Parts Operations Manager, Hyundai Motors UK; Karen Lothian, HR Manager, Hyundai Motors UK;,, Young Enterprise; Simon Thompson, Product and Market Development Senior Manager at Visa Europe; Danny Waine, Co-Founder, Perfect Weddings Abroad and Megan Fenney, HRBP, Manchester Airport Group. 2 Award supported by Manchester Airports Group The winner of The Start-Up Award for Best Overall Company was supported by the Anjool Malde Memorial trust, the winning company will be invited to represent the UK at the Start-Up European Final in Lisbon, Portugal, 1 st -4 th July and receives 1000 prize money. The winner of the UK Hyundai Brilliant Young Entrepreneur Award will receive 15,000 and further mentoring support to develop their product and bring it to market over the course of the coming year. Detour, Best Overall Company said: We've got a busy few months ahead. We are traveling to Italy to talk with our new manufacturer. We are meeting a new designer, not to mention the European student enterprise challenge in Lisbon. We are completely committed to our business and this is just the beginning, it's all thanks to Young Enterprise. It really gave us the opportunity to get ourselves out there and prove ourselves. BeeBra, winner of the Hyundai Brilliant Young Entrepreneur Award said: We're speechless and completely overwhelmed but it's fantastic to feel like all our hard work has paid off.
