Symposium Faculty Symposium Chairperson Joel F. Kramer, CPA, is the Managing Director of MIS Training Institute s Internal Audit Division. Mr. Kramer was inducted into the Institute of Internal Auditors American Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners in A frequent speaker at audit conferences, he has conducted many on-site training programs for major organizations worldwide. Mr. Kramer has written articles for KnowledgeLeader, Internal Auditing Magazine and The Internal Auditor. Thierry Dessange, CISA, CRISC, CRMA, is the Director of Information Technology Audit at Safeway Inc. Mr. Dessange developed strategic relationships with audit stakeholders and is instrumental in the company s Enterprise Risk Management efforts. He leads the department s integrated audit approach, execution, and delivery. Prior to joining Safeway, Mr. Dessange managed IT, financial, and operational audits worldwide for Barclays Global Investors. Before, Mr. Dessange held various IT Audit positions at Bank of America. Mr. Dessange holds a BS degree in Accounting from California State University at Hayward and also serves on the University of San Francisco Masters of Internal Audit Program Advisory Council. He is recognized as an audit profession thought leader and speaks at national and local audit conferences/forums. Alvia E. Brown is the Director of Corporate Audit Global Operations for The Coca-Cola Company. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of West Georgia and over 20 years of experience in internal control, operational and compliance auditing. As Director of Audit, Ms. Brown is responsible for developing strategies and providing guidance related to Corporate Audit s methodology. Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Ms. Brown was Director of Methodology and Practices for Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. She also worked GA s Office of School Readiness, implementing the internal audit function for the GA Pre-K Lottery funds. Edith L. Curry Esq. is President of Palaxar Group, LLC, where she provides financial and legal guidance for anti-fraud programs to mid-sized and large corporations. She also holds a patent for Occupational Fraud Prevention Processes. At Capital One Services, Inc., she structured a team of legal, procurement and contract management specialists and handled several contract negotiations. Ms. Curry has also served as Assistant Treasurer and Director of Accounting for Nestle Frozen Food, and has held management positions at a division of Hughes Aircraft, Inc. and USAir, Inc. Brian Reilly is Senior Vice President and Chief Auditor for Travelers. Since joining the company in 2002, Mr. Reilly managed the department through the spin-off from Citigroup in 2002, the merger with the St. Paul Companies in 2004 and the acquisition of Dominion Insurance Company in Toronto in He has integrated the audit methodologies for these companies and currently has 96 resources in 4 locations. Mr. Reilly is involved in several key initiatives across the Company including ERM, IT governance, data privacy, offshore resource utilization, and more. Previously, he was an audit partner at Arthur Andersen LLP. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Connecticut Society of CPAs and has his Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut. Michael Lewis, CPA is the Vice President of Internal Audit for Hologic; responsible for the Internal Audit function worldwide, reporting to the Audit Committee Chairperson. He has over 25 years of Internal Audit experience and was the Audit Director at Skyworks Solutions, CSX Corporation and InterGen.
